Ah the joy of alliteration. Here are some more pics from Lee Pace’s recent interview and photo shoot with Parade Magazine. We were having upload issues so we apologize for the delay in getting these pics out to all you Pie Hole patrons!
Rumors have been swirling over the past few days about the possible end of the WGA strike in the near future. If these rumors prove to be true it’s going to be great news for TV viewers as some of our favorite shows will be back in production soon. Sadly, it looks like that may not be the case for PUSHING DAISIES.
E!’s Kristin Dos Santos talked to PUSHING DAISIES creator Bryan Fuller earlier today about the chances of seeing new episodes of our favorite new show after the strike, and the outlook is gloomy.
“Essentially, even if the strike is resolved in the next week or two, we wouldn’t be back until next season. There was a preliminary conversation that involved a plan to hit the ground running and try to get episodes on the air as soon as possible, but it no longer seems like that’s going to happen. It seems most likely that we will have a very short first season and then come back in the fall for a proper season two.”
I’m going to choose to look for the silver lining on this one. With a shortened first season, Fuller and team will hopefully have plenty of time to work on a bonus feature filled Season One DVD. And with only nine episodes to watch, newbies will have an easy time catching up with Ned, Chuck and the gang before Season 2 begins.
Lee Pace was featured in this week’s Parade Magazine. Here’s the full interview for your reading pleasure. More pictures may be available soon, so keep checking back.
Lee Pace, star of the ABC hit Pushing Daisies, was spending his vacation on a 45-foot chartered sloop sailing from Barbados around the Grenadines.
“The whole point was to learn how to sail,” Lee said, “but it was too windy. Still, it was really fun. I’d done boat things once before. It’s like camping out on the water.”
The relaxed, 28-year-old bachelor had only recently moved to Los Angeles (“up in the hills”) from New York, where he’d lived for 10 years. Sounding a bit surprised at himself, Lee said, “I love L.A.”
And why not? Born in Oklahoma, as a kid Lee lived just about everywhere. His oilman dad moved the family 10 times, including to the Middle East, Texas and Louisiana. During junior high school, Lee swam competitively until earaches beached him. Does he plan to become a California surfer dude? “No,” he said. “I tried surfing once in Brazil, but I’m kind of clumsy.”
How did he nail the lead on Pushing Daisies? “I’ve got three movies ready to come out and had no interest in a TV series,” said Lee. “When they called my agent, he told them that, but then I read the script, and I knew it was going to be great. I was worried at first about the plot [he plays a man who can wake the dead], but they pulled it off, all that psychic phenomenon stuff.”
Congratulations to PUSHING DAISIES Executive Producer/Director Barry Sonnenfeld for winning the Directors Guild of America Award for “Pie-lette“!
The 60th Annual DGA Awards were handed out last night in Los Angeles and Daisies stars Kristin Chenoweth and Chi McBride were in attendance as Presenters. If we find pictures of Kristin and Chi we will post them here. The photo shown of Barry Sonnenfeld is from the awards themselves… looking dapper Mr. Sonnenfeld!

I don’t think I have ever thought of Lee Pace or Ned the pie maker as a nerd, but any time anyone wants to honor the cutie with anything is just fine by me. Check out this TV guide piece on TV’s cutest nerds, featuring Christopher Gorham (Ugly Betty), Zachary Levi (Chuck) and of course, Lee Pace.

Here is a good article from LA Times Award site The Envelope talking about how PUSHING DAISIES is the only new series to be nominated for a Golden Globe and how it has brought new life to the crime drama genre most television viewers are used to with procedurals like Law & Order. This article also features star Anna Friel talking about being nominated and the joys of Ned and Chuck’s relationship.
If “Pushing Daisies” deserves its Golden Globe nominations, it might just be because in the land of TV crime dramas, this ABC comedy stands out.
Fans might shudder to think of Bryan Fuller’s candy-colored romantic fairy tale as a mere procedural, but that’s actually how the creator pitched his idea. But is it a fairy tale with a procedural bent or a procedural with a fairy tale twist?
No matter. The Hollywood Foreign Press Assn., which in past years discovered fresh cable fare such as “The Shield,” “Nip/Tuck” and “Big Love” before the Emmys noticed them, bestowed three important Golden Globe nominations for “Pushing Daisies.”
The series was the only new show that received a nomination alongside its lead actors, Lee Pace and Anna Friel.
“We all knew it was something special when we got involved with the project but we didn’t realize other people would recognize it so quickly and so surely,” Friel said. “I think it confirms our belief that it’s inventive and something very special on TV that people haven’t seen before.”
Readers of TV Guide have named PUSHING DAISIES’ Ned and Chuck one of the best couples on TV and we happen to agree. This pair who only rediscovered each other approximately 4 months, 8 days, and 20 minutes or so ago are already up there with some of TV’s other great couples including FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS’ Tami & Eric Taylor, GREY’S ANATOMY’s Derek and Meredith and THE OFFICE’s Jim and Pam - nice company to keep Ned and Chuck. So here’s to seeing more of this TV couple in the future.
