PUSHING DAISIES Is One Step Closer To An EMMY!

Pushing Daisies

Time to rejoice kids… According to the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, PUSHING DAISIES is a semi-finalist nominee!

LOS ANGELES (AP) — “The Wire,” “Friday Night Lights” and “Pushing Daisies” are among the semifinalists for this year’s Emmy nominations.

Ten drama series and 10 comedies emerged as the top vote-getters in balloting by members of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, the academy said Thursday.

The final five nominees in each category will be determined after blue-ribbon panels screen submitted episodes this weekend, with the results to be announced July 17. The awards will be held in September.

Now don’t get too excited, as mentioned there is still another panel for Bryan Fuller’s masterpiece to wow but I’m feeling pretty confident. Congrats to Fuller, the writers, cast and crew for making it one step closer to that glorious statuette.

Pushing Daisies Fan Art: Ned the Pie Maker

Since I am not talented in the least I am always awed by the talent of others. And in this case it’s the talent of PUSHING DAISIES fan Kimberly R. who created this great caricature of Lee Pace as Ned the Pie Maker.

Kristin Chenoweth: “Glitter & Be Gay”

Published by The Pie Maker under Kristin Chenoweth

Before you know it PUSHING DAISIES will be back and we won’t know what to do with all the information there is to share. But until then we will continue to celebrate the talented people behind the show, and there are so many to choose from.

I can’t imagine that you aren’t aware of the sick amount of talent that Kristin Chenoweth has in that little itty body of hers, but in the odd chance you aren’t fully aware of all that this woman is, you must check out this video. Here Kristin performs with my hometown Boston Pops Orchestra. It’s simply amazing. Enjoy.

PUSHING DAISIES at Comic Con 2008

PUSHING DAISIES at Comic Con

According to our sources, the PUSHING DAISIES panel at Comic Con 2008 will take place on Saturday, July 26th from 3:15pm - 4:15pm.Panelists and moderators have not yet been announced (but if B. Fuller needs a few moderators I think he knows where to find us).

Last year’s PUSHING DAISIES panel was a wonderful success. The room was packed…and that was even before the show aired. Not sure what is on the agenda for this year’s panel. We know the cast and crew were hoping to have the first episode of Season 2 ready to screen but with the lingering impact of the WGA strike we still aren’t 100% sure if that’s possible.

According to the Comic Con website, Saturday is already Sold Out, but I would keep checking back if you are hoping to attend.

If you can’t go, no worries, ThePieMaker.com will be there and will be covering every minute of it with posts, podcasts, and pictures (and probably some vids too). We will be your #1 source for all things PUSHING DAISIES at Comic Con.

If you missed last year’s PUSHING DAISIES Comic Con panel, then check out some of the coverage here from ThePieMaker.com:

If you plan on attending, be sure let Dan and I know. We’d love to see you there!

Monte Carlo Mania: Lee Pace Talks Season 2 and More

Lee Pace at Monte Carlo Television Festival

This week, Pushing Daisies star Lee Pace hit the Monte Carlo Television Festival and E! was there to chat him up about Season 2.  While his remarks are short, there is a little information in there that will have us all wondering how the hell Ned and Chuck face Season 2 as a couple.

Our friends over at Just Jared have a bunch of shot of Lee in Monte Carlo, make sure you check them out and tell Jared that ThePieMaker.com sent ya!

Spotlight on Emmy Hopeful Anna Friel

Anna Friel of PUSHING DAISIES

Anna Friel is the focus of a new article and interview from Variety. The Hollywood news staple is spotlighting all the leading ladies who are in contention for an Emmy nomination this year. We hope that Anna’s name will be announced when the nominations are announced in July. Here’s an excerpt from the article…

“I watched a lot of her mannerisms and the way she looks at things,” Friel says. “Every single thing to her is new and fresh, and (she’s) not judgmental. But how could I do that and not make Chuck ditsy?”

To figure it out, Friel played nearly every scene three different ways. By the time production started on the second episode, she had found the right tone. Also, she continued working with a voice coach to help her mask her British accent and maneuver through the show’s smart, often rapid-fire dialogue rarely seen since “Gilmore Girls” — efforts that earned the actress a Golden Globe nomination.

Favorite scene: “When she’s by the grave (with Ned) and says, ‘Please wake my dad up. I just want to see him for a minute.’ And he says, ‘I can’t.’ There were quite a lot of choices about how to play it because she has to be forgiving of him and also understand why he made that decision.”

What you like most about your character: “She’s the strongest, sweetest person that I’ve ever come across, which is a complete contradiction. How can you be incredibly sweet but you’re also as strong as a rock? I like that contradiction.”

TV guilty pleasure: “I’ve bought ‘The Sopranos’ DVD sets and I’ll watch five (episodes) at a time.
