Anna Friel Takes on “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”
This just in from Variety.
Anna Friel will star as Holly Golightly in a new stage adaptation of “Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” previewing from Sept. 9 for a Sept. 29 opening at the Theater Royal Haymarket on London’s West End.
Sean Mathias will direct Samuel Adamson’s adaptation, based on the Truman Capote novella about a backwoods girl intoxicated by Manhattan high society. Joseph Cross (”Milk,” “Running With Scissors”) also stars.
Scheduled to run through Jan. 9, the play is the second in Mathias’ season at the Theater Royal Haymarket, following the revival of “Waiting for Godot,” with Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart, which opened May 6. “Tiffany’s” is produced by Colin Ingram and presented by Chambord.
Friel will next be seen in Universal’s “Land of the Lost” and on BBC’s “The Street.” Her stage credits include “Lulu” at London’s Almeida and Patrick Marber’s “Closer” on Broadway.

Great news for Anna! She is way too talented an actress to stay away from the spotlight. I guess this means she and her family returned to the UK, then? Hopefully she’ll go back to doing movies after this, so we (the American/Canadian) audience can still see her!
