One of the sweetest moments of last week’s Emmy awards came when the camera found PUSHING DAISIES stars Kristin Chenoweth & Lee Pace sharing in a moment of complete joy and pride as Barry Sonnenfeld accepted his Emmy for directing the “Pie-lette”. It was a such a pure moment, and one that I’ve watched over and over again.

I’ve been looking all over for a screen cap to share with Pie Maker readers, and finally just came across one today.

The cast of PUSHING DAISIES was on hand for a press conference yesterday at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Check out some great pics of Lee, Anna, Kristin and Chi from the event.

In their latest Emmy spotlight piece, USA Today interviews Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy nominee Kristin Chenoweth. In the interview Kristin talks about her reaction to her nomination, the projects that have been keeping her very busy as well as a little bit about the upcoming season of PUSHING DAISIES (a little spoilery so be warned).

Here’s an excerpt from the piece.

Q: So how does it feel to be nominated?
A: Surprising and shocking. I certainly was thrilled and happy and all the emotions that anyone would experience, but I was mainly surprised just because it was our first year. (The show) ended up getting 12 nominations, so that was really, really cool.

Q: How did you celebrate?
A: I was the one making the announcements with Neil Patrick (Harris), so I was like, “What?!” I was so surprised! Then they were like, “You have to do press.” And I was like, “Wait a minute! Can I have a glass of Champagne?” I got several bottles of Cristal right then and had a couple of glasses of Champagne. I went to a photo shoot right after that, so I was very relaxed for the shoot. A little goes a long way with me.

Pigby is played by a 4 year old pot-bellied pig named Fiona (aka Princess Fiona which makes her sound fierce).

Pushing Daisies star Kristin Chenoweth is working on not one but two music projects that please ThePieMaker.com!

Earlier this week it was announced that she will record covers of fey faves “For The Gays”.  Possibly inspired by her involvement with the Point Foundation (the nation’s largest scholarship-granting organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender students) for which she’s being honored on September 13th.   She’s looking to cover such songs as “The Man That Got Away”, “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy”, “Going to the Chapel”, and “Papa, Can You Hear Me?”  Not my cup of tea, but the other gays will go-go-a-ga-ga.

Today it was announced that she’s working on a Christmas album as well!  Girl is quite busy what with going to the nunnery, crushing on our boy Ned, chilling with the Aunts and now she’s got to fit in time to record another album.

Entitled “A Lovely Way to Spend Christmas,” it’s going to rock our socks stockings because we love us some Christmas!

According to Playbill.com:

Current “Pushing Daisies” Emmy nominee Kristin Chenoweth’s third solo recording will feature a wide range of Christmas songs, including “Silver Bells,” “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” and “Come On Ring Those Bells.”

Entitled “A Lovely Way to Spend Christmas,” the single CD is due in stores Oct. 14 on the Sony BMG Masterworks label.

About the new disc, which was recorded at Capitol Recording Studio’s legendary Studios A & B, Chenoweth said in a statement, “From the minute I signed with Sony Classical eight years ago, I wanted to record a Christmas album. I grew up listening to Barbra Streisand’s Christmas album, and that was such an inspiration to me. Christmas is my favorite holiday and I am blessed and excited to be able to do my own Christmas album.”
