Who’s The Gay Pushing Daisies Character?

Kristin Chenoweth to Sing at the Academy AwardsDan here with a juicy little tidbit I’ve sat on for quite some time… It’s a secret that I wasn’t able to spill for fear of Bryan Fuller bitch-slapping me into Coeur d’Coeurs and luckily I didn’t have to, someone else did!

There has long been a rumor that one of the characters in the Pushing Daisies world is gay. Way back in the early days of the show, series creator Bryan Fuller told me that it was NOT one of the main characters but that one day he/she would be revealed.

I finally got that answer I was looking for and I vowed not to tell a soul…

Well, the good folks that I work for over at AfterElton.com have gone public with Bryan’s answer and I didn’t even write the article or give them the scoop!

Want to know who’s got a crush on our favorite knitter Emerson or possibly even our beloved Pie Maker? Head on over to AfterElton.com to find out! While you’re there, check out the video they posted from our red carpet coverage of the NYTVF Premiere of Pushing Daisies.

To that end, we decided to do our second Pushing Daisies Piecast Podcast - this one devoted to our Paley experience. Among other things we discuss some of what we learned during the panel, some thoughts on Season 2, and our experience with the cast on that great night.

Pushing Daisies Paley Festival Panel Quotes, Spoilers, and Fan Reactions

Pushing Daisies Fans Review Paley Festival

If you’ve been following our coverage of the Pushing Daisies Paley Festival panel then you know we’re planning on doing another Piecast Podcast to chat about how incredible the evening was but we couldn’t help get some information up after all the emails we’ve received.

The Piecast will hopefully be ready for Monday night as we’ve decided to hold out until after our visit to the Writers Room in the afternoon in case Bryan Fuller and Co. give us any scoop we can spill to all the fans. Fingers crossed gang!

As we’re really trying to save our thoughts until the Piecast, we decided it would be a good chance to have some of our loyal ThePieMaker.com readers in attendance share their thoughts with you all!

First up is Patricia from San Diego (who oddly enough happens to be the Sister of my friend Jenny, strange but true) who attended the panel with her husband Michael. Patricia’s got a ton of quotes from the panel as well as some fun tidbits that the cast and crew shared. Some of our burning questions are answered as well. Ever wonder if Ned is a Vegetarian or if Ned & Chuck could ever possibly have a baby? Well, read on…

Second will be reader Erika with a quick take on what it was like to be a fan and aspiring TV Writer in attendance of her favorite show.

Take it away ladies…

The Latest PUSHING DAISIES Spoilers

Pushing Daisies Spoilers

Warning! The following post and subsequent comments contain possible spoilers for upcoming episodes of PUSHING DAISIES. Read at your own risk.

We might only have one more show left of our beloved PUSHING DAISIES until the end of the writers strike, but that doesn’t mean we can’t speculate on some upcoming storylines, right?

According to E!’s Kristin Dos Santos, Ned’s big revelation to Chuck that he killed her father might not be such a big deal if we find out that Chuck’s father (and perhaps mother) are still among the living? Check out this latest Q&A:

Justin in Malibu: I’m dying, dying, dying over your Pushing Daisies scoop from your last show (click here to watch)! Chuck’s father might be alive?! What about her mother? What can you tell me? That show is so good, it’s just amazing.

Kristin: Watch the Vine show if you haven’t yet, and then let the guessing begin…Could Chuck’s mother be alive? Whom could she be? All I know is that this is certainly not the end of Ned and Chuck, but the rest of the season is about as bumpy as my skin was when I was 13. (Translation: Not pretty.) There’s lots o’ drama coming their way! And yes, the parental stuff is most certainly the biggest root of it.

So Pie Maker’s, what are we thinking? I’m of the thought that Chuck’s mother could be none other than Aunt Lily, but what about her dad? Could it be that perhaps the father who raised her was not really her biological father meaning her real father is out there somewhere?

Let’s dish…what do you think of this possible scoop?

Lee Pace & Anna Friel on Ned & Chuck

Ned & Chuck, Pushing Daisies

WARNING! The following contains minor spoilers about tonight’s episode.

A Hands-Off Attitude Lifts ‘Daisies’ Duo
by Bill Keveny, USA Today

It could be fall’s most touching TV romance, except it can’t be. In ABC’s fantastical Pushing Daisies (tonight, 8 ET/PT), a touch from Ned (Lee Pace, Soldier’s Girl) brings first love Chuck (Anna Friel, The Jury) back to life, but a second touch will send her to the great beyond permanently. Oklahoma native Pace, 28, and Friel, 31, who hails from England, talk to USA TODAY about the first-year critical hit and time-slot winner (10.7 million viewers).

Q: From your banter, you seem to get along great. Could you engage in this romantic pairing if you didn’t?
Pace: I don’t know if you could get the specific thing that Chuck and Ned have if you didn’t like each other as much as we do.
Friel: I’d be surprised. I’ve seen really great love stories and then heard through the grapevine that they actually despised each other. I don’t think I could do that, if you’re working 16-17 hours a day, five days a week. … I see more of Lee than I do my daughter (2-year-old Gracie), my partner (actor David Thewlis) and my family.

Q: What do you think of the central conceit — one touch, life; second touch, death?
Pace: It’s sensible for Chuck to move as far away from Ned as possible. They shouldn’t be in the same room together. But they can’t live without each other.

Q: To avoid contact, pie-maker Ned and Chuck have touched through beekeeper suits, plastic casings, rubber gloves and kitchen wrap. How does it feel to kiss through plastic?
Friel: It’s so hot. I highly recommend it. One of the most sexual experiences of my life (she says, laughing). The same with the plastic sacks in the car. That was thicker. Each time we do it, the plastic is getting thinner and thinner. We started with industrial strength and now it’s going to super fine.
