Filter Magazine and the Hammer team up for a screening of Tarsem Singh’s new film “The Fall.” Known simply as Tarsem, this Indian director’s previous work includes Jennifer Lopez vehicle “The Cell” as well as R.E.M.’s video for “Losing My Religion.” In any case, “The Fall” somehow manages to tell the story of a 1915 Los Angeles hospital juxtaposed with a fantasy world of bandits, palaces and dreamy landscapes (the film was shot in over 18 countries). Imagine “The English Patient” on steroids. Tarsem will be on-hand for a Q n A to follow the film.

Oh this is killing me!! I was lucky enough to catch THE FALL when I was in LA 3 weeks ago and was absolutely blown away.
If you live anywhere near LA and have the time, GO. I implore you - - you won’t be disappointed.
*drowning in jealousy*
I was sadly stuck at work and had RSVPed and everything. :\
OK so I saw the priview for The Fall and I have to say it looks amazing. However I was wondering why is it rated R? I can’t think of anything that was in the trialer that would cause this film to be rated R. Just wondering, hope you all are still hard core PDs fans. I am soooo excited about the DVD box set. I am going to be hosting several PD parties in order to help the show gain a greater turn out for season 2. I can’t wait JUNE 23 yay!
Roxas0027:
THE FALL is rated R because, although it’s not particularly risque or anything, it is *extremely* violent. There is a lot of blood and even some skinned bodies in one shot…that I think is actually in the American trailer…you just can’t tell that’s what they are. There are some pretty nasty bone-crunches and stuff like that that are definitely not appropriate for younger audiences.
As for PD…I am considering buying an all-region DVD player just so I can get the British DVDs and get my fix. Watching episodes on the computer can get so old!
thanks so much for the heads up! Thats a bummer I was really looking forward to seeing it:(
