  6. Daisyon 09 Oct 2008 at 12:51 pm

Soo if they don’t get enough people to watch they will stop the show from airing in the U.S ??

  7. KellyHon 09 Oct 2008 at 2:17 pm

Fourth place again. This simply can’t continue. The only hope is if ABC is willing to try a different time slot with a strong lead-in–and it would have to hold from that lead-in. What about 9 PM on Tuesdays, moving the DWTS results up an hour?

Obviously there is no hope Wednesdays at 8:00. I blame Fuller for not producing any new episodes post strike last year

  8. Maseon 09 Oct 2008 at 4:46 pm

I think moving it to ABC family channel may be a good option as well for the show. At least it would keep it on the air. With the strike , it just killed all of the new shows last yr. ABC screwed up by not re-airing the first 9 episodes during the summer to keep PD in the mind’s of folkss. You can’t just yank a show off the air and then expect them to return a whole yr later!! Too much time passed between last yr final episode and this yr’s season. I just hope ABC realizes that when they start to figure out the fate of this great show. Let it run at least a full season. That to me would be the fair thing to do.

  9. Maseon 09 Oct 2008 at 4:49 pm

Kelly H , I have a stupid question to ask. Why is it a big deal if Fuller produces the show or not?? Does that effect the writing of the show?? Just wondering. I am really trying to figure out how they can keep this show on the air for a full season. I just want to see the story lines go to the very end. I will be SUPER PISSED if abc yanks this show abruptly with no finale. I would never watch that network ever again!!

  10. Maseon 09 Oct 2008 at 4:51 pm

I have a question. Since ABC ordered 13 episodes and I assume they have filmed most of those. If they never air will there be a chance that Season 2 would be released on dvd so we can watch them??

  11. SAVE PDon 09 Oct 2008 at 5:05 pm

Sign the petition!!!!!! We must save PD!!!!! If it gets cancelled I will blame you all!!!!!!!

Spread the love of PD!!!!!!! Literally open up your window NOW and shout out the airdate of the next episode. Tell your neighbours that you will kill them if they don’t watch it!!!!!!!

  12. KellyHon 09 Oct 2008 at 5:37 pm

I meant that Fuller should have made a few new episodes after the strike and that ABC should have aired them before the end of the season, as they did with shows such as Grey’s, Brothers & Sisters, Desperate Housewives, Ugly Betty, etc.

The break was just too long. At the very least, ABC should have aired the nine episodes of repeats during the summer. I kind of understood Fuller’s reasoning for wanting to wait until the Fall to launch new episodes, but I don’t think he was seeing the big picture, and he may be getting a rude awakening now.

I expect the show to lose to Bones. I even kind of expect it to lose to Old Chrstine. But losing to the dreck that is Knight Rider two weeks in a row (and let’s not forget just how miserable NBC is doing in general–for their crappy show to beat this masterpiece is downright sacrilege) is just probably too much for ABC to bear.

The only bright spot I can see if PD is cancelled would be if Fuller went back to Heroes and were to right that ship. That’s another show that has gone downhill, not just in the ratings, but creatively as well. It can’t be conicidence that Fuller wrote the best episode of the first season.

  13. Theresaon 09 Oct 2008 at 7:02 pm

i think they should just let it be and let the people enjoy it.

because people look forward to wednesday nights now….

and taking it away would be sad =[

  14. Maggieon 09 Oct 2008 at 7:21 pm

There is an impending actor’s strike coming up, which will most likely be the knife in this show’s heart. We have to act quickly!!!!!

    Guys we have a problem…
Midseason, a few shows are switching to PD’s day/time on other channels.
I know at least 2-5 households who will be switching from Pushing Daisies to a longer favorite. And since no one else in my family likes Pushing Daisies and only put up with the show so I will “shut it” :(((( mine might be one of them. I think that they should put it to, say, 9.
    Any suggestions?

  18. Caseron 10 Oct 2008 at 4:53 pm

And to KellyH: Its about to get waaaaaaaay worse. Even though a lot of longtime fans aren’t liking the new season of House, that’s the show thats switching to Wed8. And its my other favorite show ):

  19. Timon 11 Oct 2008 at 4:38 pm

    Kelly,

I 100% agree with your assessment of why PD’s ratings are suffering this year. I think a good portion of PD’s audience from last year thinks it got canceled or they simply forgot about the show. It was a great mistake on ABC’s fault not to give viewers any PD’s episodes following the strike.

I looked at the ratings for the first season and they were pretty strong. PD averaged around 8-9 million viewers and consistently was ranked 1st or 2nd for its time slot (except once). The worst rated episode of last season was the finale, “Corpsicle.” But, the strike was in full swing by then and a lot of people had already stopped watching for new episodes of shows. I suppose “Corpsicle’s” low rating was a precursor of things to come, but I doubt it because the previous show had scored 10 million viewers.

Sadly, I think PD is one new show from last season that really suffered from the writers strike. It is a show that needed to be in people’s minds a full season. But, close to half of the shows audience has stopped tuning in. Even if there are other factors for PD’s ratings demise, the greatest would have to be the long layoff.

  20. KellyHon 11 Oct 2008 at 5:13 pm

Competition from House won’t matter if ABC doesn’t give PD a back nine pickup. Bones gets as many viewers as House does, so it’s really apples to apples.

Didn’t somebody say that the episode of PD that aired at 9:00 scored well last year? I say to ABC–give it a chance with a good lead-in. Can’t the DWTS results show move up an hour to 8:00 (same time as the performance show) and see if PD could retain any of its audience Tuesdays at 9:00? It would also be an EXCELLENT lead-in to the similarly-themed Eli Stone, which is slated for Tuesdays at 10:00. It could be a great night for ABC, building on the DWTS juggernaut. Move the insipid Oppurtunity Knocks to Wed. at 8:00. I think that most of Private Practice’s audience is not necessarily holding over from PD, and are coming in just for that show. I know that ABC airs the DWTS results at 8:00 after the new year to avoid going directly against American Idol performance shows, but we don’t have to worry about that until after the new year. I say shake the schedule up a little now. Leading in a night of newish shows is a tall order for PD. Give it a chance with a lead-in.

I think one thing working against that mentality is that ABC thinks that it’s a kid-friendly show (which it kind of is–especially for the 10-13 age group, many of whom seem to eat it up like a good pie–;-) And my 12-year-old daughter got the Von Deenis limerick joke instantly, by the way, so it’s not like her mind was being corrupted–anyway, I digress), so a kid-friendly show should by rights air at 8:00. If it HAS to be at 8:00, then why not Sunday nights as a lead-in for DH? Let Extreme Makeover Home Edition try itself out on Wednesday, where it’s old parent Extreme Makeover Human Edition used to be back in the day. Those are my suggestions–either Sundays at 8:00 or Tuesdays at 9:00 (the latter of which would require the DWTS results to be moved up)–but please let’s get it the heck off of Wednesdays at 8:00!!

  21. nancyon 11 Oct 2008 at 10:18 pm

    Hiya,
I am on it!!! I post reminders on my blog weekly and had a countdown. Then when I am at work…I talk about PD all the time. It is my favorite and practically the only show I watch, so I am not going to let it go without a fight.

    Long live the Piemaker

  22. Lindsayon 12 Oct 2008 at 3:38 am

Another thing we can all do is put a parental block on every show that is on between 8 and 9 o’clock on Wednesdays. I did that at my house! My parents still don’t know what’s going on, but it’s all good! ‘Cause they watched the show with me and they started telling their friends about the show and then they told their friends about the show and so on. Even if you can, go over to friends’ and relatives’ houses and put a parental block on all the shows that are on between 8 and 9 o’clock on Wednesdays. Guys, it totally works!!!

  23. kristinloveron 12 Oct 2008 at 3:57 pm

i like the way u think Lindsey!!!

  24. Caseron 12 Oct 2008 at 4:42 pm

KellyH: House actually gets a LOT more viewers than Bones.

But I completely agree with everything else that you said ;)

But Tuesday at 9 would be worse though, with competition. Sundays at 8 would be GREAT!!!!
It would be better for a family to watch at 8 on a Sunday, then on Wednesday. It IS a family-oriented show(kind of:D). Just from experiance (in my family and others near me who watch), we are busy on Wednesdays!

I like you’re Sunday idea….YOU HEAR KELLYH ABC?!

    ;)

    Dear Daisies Fans:
I will leave this to your expertise, as I am not sure where to start. I wanted to write ABC a letter to express my full support for this show, and my sincere desire to see it continue. I tried registering on ABC.com, but can’t seem to have any luck posting there.

Does anyone have e-mails for the production companies and the network?

Do people from either of these organizations actually read them or heed them?

I am willing to do whatever I can to help keep this unique, theatrical, whimsical and delightfully tongue-in-cheek show on the air.

  26. Timon 13 Oct 2008 at 11:54 pm

    Kelly,

A move to a different night may be in order for Pushing Daisies if the poor Wednesday night ratings continue. I hope (and believe) that ABC recognizes the quality if this show. There is an audience for a show like Pushing Daisies out there, they just need to be exposed to it.

Like I said, the ratings for the first season were pretty strong. The ten month layoff was just too long. Like you said, ABC may need to try to place PD’s after a big ratings show like Dancing With the Stars to get it better exposure.

We will just have to wait and see what the next few weeks bring ratings wise. Hopefully things start to pick up.

Will the petition be sent or does ABC know of it already?

I know I asked it somewhere else but here just seems like a better place ;)

Does the statistics these TV execs review and base their decisions on take into account those who Tivo/DVR the show? It’s my fav and set as high priority. I love it and don’t want to see it go.

  30. Danon 29 Oct 2008 at 9:44 pm

My wife and I really enjoy this show! We think it’s one of the better shows on TV. We’d hate to see it get cancelled. It is well written, witty, and fun.

The cast works well together. It’s must see TV. The idea of having Jim Dale narrate the show was pure brilliance. This is a quality program and it would be a shame if it were cancelled.

I still wish PD were never cancelled, and keep hoping that in some form, an extended DVD box set with just one or two additional episodes would be made - like Wonderfalls, which wound up all the story lines..

I still want to know what happens to Chuck’s dad, who we last saw taking off in a car in a half-zombie state.. evil plans in mind.

Of course, rather than the hasty ‘wind ups’ of Cod’s little girl’s character and so on, I would also have loved just one or two episodes to wind them up properly.

It would have been nice for the Sci Fi network or another network to have at least footed the bill for just that little bit the fans deserved.

What a shame! Meanwhile, head case Charlie Sheen garners emmys for the lame lame two and a half men.. what is wrong with the world? Dumbing down of America I suppose.
