Hi! I wrote about PD on my blog today:
http://perksofquirk.blogspot.com/
Even though it’s a general pop culture blog, I’ll be posting a lot more about PD in the future. Make sure to keep an eye on it
Thanks so much!
Hey Piemakers!
I was wondering if you would be interested in participating in an online Hulu Awards Ceremony.
I run a Hulu fan site blog at http://thehulureview.blogspot.com/, and am assembling a panel of bloggers and internet luminaries to judge the top-quality Hulu offerings.
If you join the panel, you will be asked to nominate Hulu clips, movies, and shows for awards in a variety of categories. Then, you’ll be asked to vote on a short list of nominees.
Please either email me with subject line: Hulu Awards, or post a comment on my blog at this post: http://thehulureview.blogspot.com/2008/10/hulu-awards-ceremony.html
In your response, please include your name and website (I’m contacting a slew of bloggers about this).
Thanks for your time;

AWARD-WINNING PRODUCTION DESIGNER, MICHAEL WYLIE, NOMINATED FOR HIS SECOND EMMY FOR BEST ART DIRECTION ON “PUSHING DAISIES”
Despite early cancelation, much beloved “Pushing Daisies” continues to pull in nominations and critical acclaim
Los Angeles, CA — The award-winning ABC series “Pushing Daisies” secures another batch of Emmy nominations this year, most notably for Best Art Direction under production designer, Michael Wylie. This marks Wylie’s second Emmy nomination for Art Direction. He has also received two nominations for an Art Director’s Guild (ADG) Award for “Pushing Daisies” and won an ADG Award for Excellence in Production Design for the television series “Little Britain USA”.
The nominated episode for “Daisies”, “Dim Sum or Lose Some”, encompasses a unique array Chinatown inspired sets with over 75% original designs. With the current state of the economy, it was difficult to create a big budget look with a dwindling show budget. Wylie was able to deliver an Emmy worthy and critically acclaimed design on an economic conscious budget.
Michael Wylie has been creating eye-popping designs since 1993. In 1990, he moved to Los Angeles to work as a set dresser on Wes Craven’s “A Nightmare on Elm Street” television series “Freddy’s Nightmares” produced by Jeff Freilich. After experiencing life on a Los Angeles film set, Wylie started down a career path in design. Wylie met director, Barry Sonnenfeld, while working on the television series, “The Tick”. Sonnenfeld and Wylie have worked on a number of projects since including “Big Trouble”, “Men in Black II”, Notes from the Underbelly”. These projects ultimately led him to the widely received ABC show “Pushing Daisies” created by Bryan Fuller. Wylie told TV Guide that, “My goal [for Pushing Daisies] was to create [a set that looked like] a storybook come to life. I wanted everything to look almost like an illustration.” He achieved this by “concentrating on conflicting patterns in different colors, particularly reds and oranges, but per director Barry Sonnenfeld, virtually no blues.”
Wylie is not your average designer. Wylie attended the university of Michigan before he went on to be a professional limo driver for Madonna on her “Who’s That Girl Tour”. Wylie then managed Quincy Jones’ Montreux Jazz Festival. These jobs eventually landed him in Los Angeles where he began his career in production design and began garnering accolades.
Wylie’s work on “Daisies” has gained him attention internationally as fans flock to his Facebook fan page from Brazil, Spain, Italy and South Africa to name a few. Through the means of Social Media, Wylie has made himself available to fans easily with his Twitter, Facebook and Wikipedia accounts. Wylie’s official website http://www.MichaelWylie.net is set to launch late August.
ABC’s “Pushing Daisies” tells the story of a young pie maker named Ned (played by Golden Globe-nominee Lee Pace) who has the unique ability to bring people back to life with a simple touch. Ned brings his childhood sweetheart, Chuck (played by Anna Friel) back to life and together they use Ned’s power to solve crimes. The twist to the story remains that Ned can never touch Chuck again or she will lose her life forever.
