Could Molly Shannon Be A Pushing Daisies Regular?
According to Ausiello, it looks like Molly Shannon’s wacky taffy peddler could become a series regular.
If you thought Molly Shannon was as much a hoot as scheming (and possible killer) taffy merchant Dilly Balsam as I did, then you’re in luck: I’m hearing there’s a chance her role could become permanent. That is, if this strike ever ends!
Go for it my fellow Pie Hos… DISCUSS

SWEEEEEEET!!!!!!!
I’d love to see Molly stick around and be an ongoing nemesis for Ned and the gang. They would have to find interesting ways to keep her in the storyline though. Ned’s candy shop neighbor with revenge in her heart could get old. Then again, this is Pushing Daisies and they haven’t shown to lack creativity.
Neat! I love Molly Shannon, and Dilly was quite interesting. I agree with you, though, Kath, that they’d have to find some new storylines for her, as the vengeful neighbour might get boring.
She’d work better as a true nemesis than that adorable, huggable Olive Snook =)
i’m all for it as long as it stays creative- not 101 ways to get rid of the annoying business competition. i’m definitely not seeing her character as another olive (enemy turned friend)- dilly is waaay to vindictive for that.
I’m impartial. However, I’m SO glad Oscar V. will be back next week! Dilly’s character was nothing compared to him. (Sorry, Molly.)
I think that most tv series need a main nemisis for the season’s story arc. Like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the seasonal “Big Bads”. It just makes the season more cohesive (sp?). But I also agree that her character can get old if kept as is. I see her as maybe being on for the rest of this season (if there is one) or for some or most of next season. But not for the long haul.
I’m not sure what role she could play. I agree the vindictive competition would get old. They already have the suspicious character who is trying to get to the bottom of things, so I’m not sure what more they could do with her character.
I don’t know. I hope that they put as many twists and turns as they have in previous episodes. It adds flavor.
Is she REALLY a nemisis anymore? I mean they helped her out in the end, and Candy shops and bakeries don’t really compete… although I know Ms. Life-Tastes-Sweeter-with-a-Bite-of-the-Bitter was really just after the location of The Pie Hole.
I think that some really interesting things could happen with her, as a fair-weather friend and/or nosy neighbor. Currently the team is pretty secluded, Chuck doesn’t have any friends outside of Emerson, Olive, and Ned because, well, she died and that does tend to ruin a relationship. Ned doesn’t really have any outside friends because he’s all weirded out and hermit like. I suppose Olive has more interesting friends like Pinky lurking around somewhere though, and Emerson doesn’t seem like the type to make friends for any reason other than personal gains in the monetary sence.
I guess what I’m saying is a little more interaction for the group could be a great thing.
Yay! I love that actress. She was so funny on SNL and Will and Grace. I would consider it an honor to have her be a regular on PD. I am not worried of her character ever becoming boring. I have yet to see Bryan Fuller writting something that is not incredibly creative, smart, entertaining and fascinating. Molly Shannon is a very good and funny comedian. Team her up with Bryan and the incredible team of PD and you can only get some most watch hours of television entertainement. Even if she only got the part of the always there Bad guy, I know, the writers of this show would spin it in a way that can only be amazing. So again. Yay!
i thought molly shannon did a wonderful job and it great to see her in TV again. I loved the spoof on the birds! Classic hopefully she could even join with the pie hos that would be very interesting
I love the character and it would be great to see her on a regular basis, as a more thorn-in-their-side type character than a full-blown nemesis. I’m sure Bryan Fuller could come up with something excellent for her.
Good golly, no!! I love Molly Shannon, but she’s best in short doses. Maybe a recurring character, once or twice a season. If scripted shows ever go back to production.
