“Dim Sum Lose Some” Preview

For all of us that were far from pleased with ABC last week for not including a preview of “Frescorts” after “Bad Habits” at least we caught a glimpse of Pushing Daisies next episode “Dim Sum Lose Some”

Yay a promo, the next episode looks exciting! I’m glad Simone is back!

That looks great! Ugh, ABC is killing me! They promote every other show, like ugly betty with lindsey lohan who wont even be in the episode, and dont even mention pushing daisies.

I thought it was a little weird last week, too. But then I waited until after the commercial when the show ended. They did show the promo for Bad Habits after the show. You just had to wait until after the credits and commercial.

They showed a promo for Bad Habits after Circus, Circus. A promo for Fresorts was NEVER aired.

ALERT for October 29 and November 5!! These two dates are very important for the future of Pushing Daisies. NBC and CBS are both carrying Obama’s love-fest. ABC has resisted and is airing Pushing Daisies instead, presumably as a way to try to bump the ratings. If the World Series goe 6 games, FOX will not be airing Bones. PD would be the ONLY scripted series for the first half-hour. The ratings jump must be big. It’s time to start working on this now.

Pushing Daisies is pre-empted on Nov. 5 for the DWTS results, which must be moved from Tuesday because of Election Night coverage. We must watch this closely. The DWTS results will be against the same competition that PD usually is–Old Christine and Gary Unmarried, Knight Rider, and Bones. The ratings for DWTS will surely be higher, but we need to hope and pray that they are not HUGELY higher, as that could be the kiss of death for the show.

On the other hand, ABC could use the premption for some much-needed promotion during DWTS–”Pushing Daisies returns next week with a great all-new episode!”

If you like DWTS, you might want to consider DVR-ing it and not watching it live on November 5. Tell your friends to do the same. If the ratings for DWTS airing in PD’s timeslot against the same competition are WAY bigger than PD’s numbers, it could be death. Encourage your friends to NOT watch the DWTS results on Nov. 5 live. PLEASE!!!

OK, for some reason PD is pre-empted on Nov. 12 as well. It will return on Nov. 19 with the Fred Willard episode. This gives three weeks between Dim Sum Lose Sum and Oh Oh Oh It’s Magic. It’s an opportunity to drum up viewers, providing the ratings for Oct. 29 show the vital improvment that is needed. Again, it is vitally important that the DWTS ratings not improve dramatically on PD on Nov. 5. This show is obviously in no danger no matter what its ratings in the “special” time slot. It is in our interest for as FEW PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE to watch the DWTS results live on Nov. 5. Spread the word! This is more important than you think!

You gotta be freaking kidding me! Oh Oh Oh! It’s Magic doesn’t air until November 19th? That’s the episode I’ve really been looking forward to!

Oh well, guess I’ll have to be even more patient.

The reason why ABC is not airing PD Nov 12 is because they’re airing the Country Music Awards that day. They pre-empted PD last year for the same thing. Like a previous commenter said last year, why can’t they air the CMTs on a day when ABC has a strong lineup?

I don’t want PD cancelled, and I’ll forever hate ABC if they do!

  8. KellyHon 25 Oct 2008 at 5:08 pm

The CMA ratings won’t affect anything. The DWTS results against the same competition will. There needs to be a campaign for as fw people as possible to watch those DWTS results live. If it draws several mil. more than PD–we are likely doomed.

DO NOT WATCH THE DWTS RESULTS ON NOVEMBER 5 LIVE!!
This really needs to be stressed.

What I should also mention is that there is a way to contact ABC. Many of us may want to express our displeasure with ABC’s promotion of Frescorts (this address for ABC was put on here a while ago during the writer’s strike):

500 South Buena Vista Street, Burbank, CA 91521.
    Tel: (818) 460-7477

Or, I found these on Google Maps that you could use to contact ABC (not sure if they will actually work):

    ABC Inc‎
    2300 Riverside Dr, Burbank, CA - (818) 249-9999‎

    Disney-ABC Cable Networks‎
    3800 W Alameda Ave # B, Burbank, CA - (818) 569-7500‎

I’ve got some encouraging news. I just read an interview that Kristin from E! news did with Lee Pace a couple of weeks ago and in it Lee said that they have already filmed 13 episodes. I think what ABC needs to do is one of two things. Either move PD in front of Ugly Betty and put it on a night with ABC”S strong comedies OR run the 13 episodes and not run anymore epidsodes till the summer. Think about it. There would be virtually no new programming on during the summer , so PD would be the ONLY original show on ALL summer. This would be a great time to pick up new viewer’s. Some will say that no one watches tv in the summer , but guess what?? NO one is watching this show now! So a different approach is needed.

I just hope that if indeed they only have till the 13th episode , I hope that ABC will let PD have a series finale that will properly tie up all of the story lines OR sell PD to another network. For some reason , I feel like this show would do really well on NBC.

  12. Reneeon 26 Oct 2008 at 5:32 pm

I think you’re right. PD would do really well on NBC. It’s faerie tale-like and sweet, but some jokes and bits are just not “family” enough for ABC. Besides, NBC promotes like woah!

  13. KellyHon 27 Oct 2008 at 11:39 am

A network switch is probably not likely. PD is the most “family-friendly” show out there that’s not on ABC Family or The Disney Channel, so ABC is really the best fit. I don’t think think they’d risk moving it to Thursdays. I still say Sundays at 8:00 is the best place.

Not to offend anybody from Philly, but…PD fans need to be Rays fans tonight. If the Rays win, Bones will not air on Wednesday–we need to not have Bones airing on this very crucial night and week for the future of Pushing Daisies.

Go Rays!! At least tonight. And Philly fans–hopefully you can recover in Tampa, but for the future of Pushing Daisies, we really need your team to lose tonight.

  14. Maseon 27 Oct 2008 at 12:22 pm

I think my point in all of this is that PD is not a mass appealing show. It’s just not. We love it and are diehard fans , but do you really think that 20 million people are going to run to their tv’s to see Olive sing “Hopelessly devoted to you”??

I think that we have to be pragmatic about the show and the expectations and so does ABC. PD , if they continue the show, would have the same ratings as something like the Simpson’s or Family Guy or something to that effect. It is a show that will garner 6-8million viewers. BUT , they are loyal viewer’s who buy the dvd’s and the itune episodes. That to me is where it all stands. If we buy the products , then the show will continue. ABC is in this to make money and if the show does not make money , it fails. Simple as that.

I think that they should also run re-runs of the show on ABC-family. The more people you expose to the show , the more of a following you get. It’s like planting little seeds all over the place.

  15. KellyHon 27 Oct 2008 at 3:35 pm

ABC did not air any promos for the show last night. They did for Private Practice and D$M. Guess they’re not as interested in a great performance on Wed. as they seemed to be.

Just a reminder- all the posters on the Daisies ABC site are
participating in a letter-writing campaign to ABC the first week of
Nov., to express our support for the show. ABC hasn’t ordered any new episodes of the show, so it could get canceled. Think
about joining us and expressing support for the show with a letter or email to ABC. Address is: ABC, Inc 500 South Buena Vista St. Burbank CA 91521-4551 Thanks!
