OMG! Chuck’s green Chucks are awesome!
so sad I missed the episode. I can’t wait to watch it in the morning.
I was thisclose to hating the character of Olive, until she spared Chuck’s aunts the pain of knowing that Charlotte was really alive. The subplot of “Olive might spill the beans about who Chuck really is” over the past couple of weeks has been more than enough for me. I hope it ended tonight, and now Olive can go along being her merry, crazy-in-a-fun-way self. I want to hear more about how she used to think masturbation meant chewing your food and less about how crazy jealous she is that Chuck stole her man, which is not true anyway. I love zany, fun Olive. But insane, plotting Olive? Not so much.
*sigh* Once again proving why it takes no effort whatsoever to love this show.
Love Olive and the Aunts on a roadtrip, singing, following a carrier pigeon. Beautiful. Beekeeper suits, a field of windmills, digging up a grave…..
Yet another great episode, I have to go and watch again to choose my favourite line this week.
“Neat” is my new favorite word.
Oh yeah, and Aunt Swoozie is my new favorite character. HAHA!
Another amazing episode. I loved the dancing in the beekeeper suits. This show helps me believe true romance isn’t quite dead in the world after all.
Wonderful episode, as usual! The plot was a bit strange, and might not have worked on another show, but it was just perfect for Pushing Daisies. Loved Olive (and how she spared The Aunts), loved the whole Ned/Digby storyline, LOVE LOVE LOVED the beekeeper suits (and the fact that both Ned and Chuck were wearing “Chucks”. I gotta get me a pair of those…). Emerson was as funny as always, and the fact that it now seems the Coroner is taking a cut of the profits makes me think we’ll be seeing a lot more of him in the future! Awesome!
What I love about this show is that the “mysteries” service the character stories first and foremost every week, and not the other way around. I love seeing a show that does that, rather than a show that just plunks the characters in the middle of whatever mystery the writers come up with. I feel like they’re building these stories around the characters, what they need to happen, and then fleshing them out from there, and it’s working wonderfully.
This show just keeps getting better and better. I loved Olive tonight. I’ve never been obsessed with her, but she’s just so tiny and bubbly and adorable. I loved it when she said she wanted to look at the windmill’s garden.
And how adorable was Pige? Such a ridiculous storyline that was just fantastic. And Olive yelling at Pige. “Wait! You forgot your message!” And Ned looking at that poor squirrel who he thought would die.
Ned’s jealousy. Chuck pretending to hold Ned’s hands. Ned’s bee stinging story. Ned freaking out about not being able to catch her if she falls. I loved that the aunts had a big part of the story. Everything is so amazing.
I was discussing with someone earlier about how important Emerson is to PD. He is the voice of reason, reality, cynicism. If he weren’t there, it might be too sugary sweet, too innocent. But Emerson is great at bringing everyone back to the real world. Another one of my favorite lines was Emerson saying they were taking two cars next time!
I was thinking… if Ned and Chuck can dance in beekeeping suits and kiss through plastic wrap, couldn’t Ned just wear long sleeves and gloves all the time? Then they could hug and touch, they’d just have to be careful of Ned’s neck and head.
Do I even need to say another great episode? No, I don’t. But it was.
Did you notice Karly Rothenberg (Madge from The Office) was the pilot’s wife? How hilarious was that? Did you know she was going to make an appearance?
Yeah, they need to have Ned wearing gloves sometimes or something. Even my 11 year-old daughter keeps commenting on that…
I have been telling everyone who’ll listen to watch this show!
Good morning PD fans, wow… I hate to say it but I didn’t get to see last night’s episode either. How sad is it that Chuck and I both missed our favorite show on the same night at the same time? We weren’t even doing something together which would have at least lessened the blow.
Chuck (kath), if you watch this morning please let everyone know what you thought of last night’s ep. I don’t even know if I will have time tonight to watch.
I know… bad site runner… BAD!
Ratings for last night’s episode.
Viewers: 9.45 million (#2), A 18-49: 3.0 rating/8 share
Down about 5% from last week.
HELP!! My Tivo tricked me and it didn’t record the show! It’s actually all my fault but I’m blaming Tivo anyway…it makes me feel better. Is there someplace online to watch?
Another good episode last night. I have to say that the beginning of the episode made Digby my new favorite TV character!
I also loved hearing Kristen Chenoweth and Ellen Greene singing together.
I agree that I thought it was good for Olive to change her mind about letting Chuck’s aunts find out about her. I was starting to get angry at her for almost revealing that Chuck was alive, but then it worked out. Though I do realize that Olive doesn’t know the real story. I wonder also if she still might want to let the aunts know the truth at some point, though.
Kristi - you can view full episodes online at http://www.abc.com. If you’re American, that is. Apparently American networks hate Canadians, since we’re not allowed to view eps online, though.
The story lines just keep getting more interesting after each passing week. I love it!
Pige looks ridiculously divine, I love the way they made it look as if it hasn’t a bird brain, where it looked at the plane crash and at its reflection after being bejeweled.
I like the way Elsita chops her cucumber and how Olive kicks the gate roughly. They looked dangerous!
I also like how Ned is so possessive over Chuck. But then again, a guy who didn’t have any friends back in school would be like that. Emerson’s gotta get himself some lovin’ cos I don’t think Ned and Chuck would end things in the near future. Where did his knitted things go?
I hadn’t had time to post until now but I heart Emerson more than I ever thought I could heart him. His knack for infusing comedy just when things between Ned and Chuck start bordering on diabetic is great.
And is it just me or does Lee Pace rock the man cardi just as well as JKras? It was all I could think about at first, but then you know, he spoke and I started thinking about something else, mainly that he looks so darned cute when he’s jealous.
Thanks Kimber!!!

Ditto to what lonely_tourist wrote — so glad that Olive’s character path turned away from the crazed jealousy. Apart from that, GREAT episode. I was bouncing with happiness at the Birdhouse in Your Soul reference (only slightly outdone by “Funeral’s” Jedi ref) and that was BEFORE they started actually singing it. Thanks to the genius writers and the talented actors who pull it off.
Funny, I’m starting to get a pie craving more often these days… would the webmasters consider making a blog space for pie recipes? : )
Ned sliding under the table while chasing after Lem was brilliant!
And I love that after each viewing I find something new I hadn’t noticed before, like the address of the windmill and the ‘big daddy needs some new yarn’ line.
It’s official. I’m in love with a television show.

Ah…
I’ve been in a love affair with this show since I saw the first episode a few months ago on abc.com (I know, it’s a disgrace that I missed the first season last fall), and as such, I never ever ever thought the writers or producers could do any wrong…
that is, until I watched this episode.
I was very disappointed at the ‘plot antagonist’ (??) of this episode. Seriously, that a crop dusting airplane crashed into the side of a building under the control of a highjacker (or because of a bird, sorry, pigeon, as it turns out).
Seriously?
The only thing that I could think about during the rest of this episode was 9/11 (and the 9/11 highjackers training in crop dusting ’school’!) here in NYC. I wish the writers would have been more sensitive to understanding the connotations of these details as they wrote this episode. I’m still pretty shocked that out of everything they could have written, they chose these circumstances to surround the murder victim. I’m still stunned. Sorry if my reaction seems unwarranted, but 9/11 was a day like none other.
