Ooh! I was wondering when we’d see Oscar again, but I thought it wouldn’t be until next season because this one is being cut short. Coolness though!

    lucky people!!!

  7. Shardithon 03 Dec 2007 at 1:07 pm

It’s a sad sad situation when the dearest quirkiest new show to come along in years gets cut short in it’s first season.

    ***BIG*** angsty sigh.

Wish I had a slice of Key Lime right now.

  8. Stephanieon 10 Dec 2007 at 12:15 pm

I feel saddend that the show is ending, its my favorite one on TV! Still, can’t wait to find out what happens!!!

  11. Asheson 12 Dec 2007 at 8:50 pm

Well, the last episode for who knows how long is about to start. I hope we have lots of people here to talk about it!

  12. Kimberon 12 Dec 2007 at 8:55 pm

I echo your thoughts, Ashes. Let’s hope we have lots of people to discuss the last ep for at least a while! 5 minutes more…

  13. Asheson 12 Dec 2007 at 8:59 pm

What on earth am I going to obsess about during the hiatus?

  14. Kaiton 12 Dec 2007 at 9:00 pm

*sigh* Still three hours to go here. I’m counting down the minutes. ;)

  15. Kimberon 12 Dec 2007 at 9:01 pm

Oh no … 3 hours, Kait? That seems like forever.

Ashes, we’ll just have to reobsess about this show during the hiatus.

  16. Kimberon 12 Dec 2007 at 9:02 pm

Awww … I love Young Ned and Young Chuck!!

  17. Asheson 12 Dec 2007 at 9:04 pm

Maybe there is something to the Lily being Chuck’s mother after all…that was a really strange reaction.

  18. Kimberon 12 Dec 2007 at 9:05 pm

That was a very weird reaction. I think she really night be Chuck’s birth mom.

  19. Kimberon 12 Dec 2007 at 9:06 pm

Whoops …should have been “might” be Chuck’s birth mom. Not “night”. I’m pre-occupied.

  20. Asheson 12 Dec 2007 at 9:08 pm

I really didn’t think it would be, but the evidence seems to be building for it to be a big possibility.

  21. Asheson 12 Dec 2007 at 9:09 pm

She just poured the WHOLE bottle in?! Wow, I’m glad its an herbal remedy.

  22. Kimberon 12 Dec 2007 at 9:09 pm

That’s true, it almost seems too easy. But then again, maybe it really is that easy. Or else they’re setting it up to look that way, and then they’ll whip the rug out from under us.

  23. Asheson 12 Dec 2007 at 9:10 pm

They do like to do that from time to time.

  24. Kimberon 12 Dec 2007 at 9:11 pm

I think the Aunts are going to be reeeeeeeeally happy after consuming that pie!!

  25. Asheson 12 Dec 2007 at 9:11 pm

I can’t wait to see their reaction to it. :-)

  26. Kimberon 12 Dec 2007 at 9:11 pm

Ha ha ha … I love the Coroner’s sweater. Too funny. He’s such an awesome character. “Mmm-hmm”.

  27. Asheson 12 Dec 2007 at 9:14 pm

His sweater was pretty out there. I’m not even sure what exactly was supposed to be on it, but it was certainly festive.

  28. Kimberon 12 Dec 2007 at 9:15 pm

Definitely festive. It looked like it was a woman with a tree (?) or something equally Christmasy.

Chuck’s so cute with her boots and fluffy skirt! But oh no … Oscar has found her now! She needs Ned to show up.

  29. Chuck (Kath)on 12 Dec 2007 at 9:15 pm

I’m going to be saving my comments until the commercial breaks so I can avoid so many multiple comments.

The Young Chuck/Young Ned opening was too sad for words. It got all kinds of dusty in here and my eyes seemed to tear up.

I would really like to cut Ned’s hair. Who does he think he is, Peter Petrelli last season?

  30. Kimberon 12 Dec 2007 at 9:16 pm

Ned’s hair is getting quite out of control! I liked it sort of fluffy with the wave, but now it’s just a bit too odd. Sort of symbolizes how out of control he feels right now.

  31. Asheson 12 Dec 2007 at 9:18 pm

Oscar is so creepy. lol. And poor Digby. and I agree, Ned could use a good hair cut.

  32. Chemengrgalon 12 Dec 2007 at 9:19 pm

I just thought of something… the show has made reference to the fact that Ned can’t eat his pies because the fruit would turn rotten in his mouth. So what does Ned eat since technically fruits, veggies, and meat are all “dead”? Have we ever seen him eat anything?

  33. Kimberon 12 Dec 2007 at 9:19 pm

I know, poor Digby and his shaved butt.

Ha ha ha Olive. I love her, having a conversation with herself. Bosom-aholic. Hilarious.

  34. Kimberon 12 Dec 2007 at 9:20 pm

Chemengrgal - I thought the same thing about the meat, because it is technically dead. Also what about leather? As for fruits and veggies that aren’t already rotten, I assume that would be okay. Is Ned a vegetarian?

  35. Asheson 12 Dec 2007 at 9:20 pm

I’m guessing he can eat fresher fruits. The ones he makes his pies from are downright rotten. And if you think about it, Vegetables are live when their on the plants and still edible.

  36. Kimberon 12 Dec 2007 at 9:21 pm

Poor Ned … I feel so sad for him when he gets all teary eyed :(

  37. Susanon 12 Dec 2007 at 9:22 pm

It’s SO hard to wait 3 hours, and Kimber and Ashes, I’m so jealous — I have to stop reading comments before I see too much, but I seriously can’t wait…

  38. Asheson 12 Dec 2007 at 9:24 pm

That kid is a horrid child.

  39. Chemengrgalon 12 Dec 2007 at 9:24 pm

That scene between Ned and Chuck was so heartbreaking :(

  40. Kimberon 12 Dec 2007 at 9:25 pm

Poor Mr. Cox (hee hee). That kid is kind of a jerk … even if he is dying.

  41. Asheson 12 Dec 2007 at 9:25 pm

That conversation between Ned and Chuck was heartbreaking. It’s like their respective parents died all over again.

  42. Kimberon 12 Dec 2007 at 9:26 pm

It was sad and hearbreaking to hear the word “hate” used between Chuck and Ned. I know Chuck’s in shock and upset, but Ned really didn’t know what he was doing - and he was just a kid!

  43. Chuck (Kath)on 12 Dec 2007 at 9:27 pm

    Commercial break comments…

Lee Pace could not be more lovable if he tried. That scene was painful to watch. I understand that Chuck is upset but why can’t she understand that Ned had no idea the power of his gift and he thought he was just saving his mother. He had no idea he would kill Chuck’s dad. I mean at the time he didn’t really know he had anything to do with Chuck’s father’s death, right?

From now on the team of Ned, Chuck & Emerson should be known as the ‘Angels of Justice’

  44. Asheson 12 Dec 2007 at 9:27 pm

And he was emotionally upset, too. His mom died, too.

  45. Chemengrgalon 12 Dec 2007 at 9:27 pm

I think Chuck will realize that Ned didn’t know what he was doing and that he was just a kid, but right now she just needs to process the new information

  46. rockerbabyfi12on 12 Dec 2007 at 9:28 pm

With meat, he could just like touch it with his figer twice, and then he can eat it and it’s fine. Since dead bodies don’t heal, I don’t think the meat would like uncook itself.

  47. Asheson 12 Dec 2007 at 9:29 pm

Did he just use his knitting needle to crack the ice?

  48. Kimberon 12 Dec 2007 at 9:30 pm

Ha … Ashes, I think you’re right. I had no idea what he used, but that makes sense! I love it when Emerson says “hell no”

  49. Asheson 12 Dec 2007 at 9:33 pm

I love the metaphors of the narrator. “warming its toes in the sunshine” hehe.

  50. Kimberon 12 Dec 2007 at 9:33 pm

Oh no, CHUCK! I don’t know that she should trust Oscar. He’s still a bit creepy for my liking.

  51. rockerbabyfi12on 12 Dec 2007 at 9:34 pm

lol “Dead like them” “Dead Like Me” Funny.

    And NOOOOO, CHUCK! NOOOOO!

  52. Chemengrgalon 12 Dec 2007 at 9:34 pm

I can’t believe she just did that… Oscar is so weird and creepy…

  53. Asheson 12 Dec 2007 at 9:35 pm

He might be creepy, but he’s an outcast, too. And he’s so much of a recluse, she’s safer confiding in him than in Olive, who is out in the world all the time.

  54. rockerbabyfi12on 12 Dec 2007 at 9:37 pm

It weird though. Cause Oscar is treating her like a freaky experiment. I would think she’d WANT to tell a friend that would treat her like a person….after they’re done screaming.

  55. Kimberon 12 Dec 2007 at 9:39 pm

Yeah, Olive’s not the best person to confide in. I mean, she’s sweet and she’ll listen, but she just wouldn’t get it. And true - Oscar is a recluse like her.

Ha ha … “dead like them” … ah, I miss “Dead Like Me”. :(

  56. Chemengrgalon 12 Dec 2007 at 9:40 pm

“What if Chuck and I don’t add up?” Oh my goodness…such a horrible thought. :(

  57. Kimberon 12 Dec 2007 at 9:40 pm

Anyone else get the feeling that Emerson has a daughter? A wife? Or at least a family?

  58. Kimberon 12 Dec 2007 at 9:40 pm

Oops … guess Emerson just confirmed that. Yah! A backstory for him.

  59. Asheson 12 Dec 2007 at 9:40 pm

I don’t know. I really think he’d understand more than Olive would, and she really doesn’t know anyone else.

Emerson, having an ushy gushy moment…wait…wait…wait…Emerson’s a DAD?!?!

  60. Asheson 12 Dec 2007 at 9:42 pm

I always wondered about his past. He’s so secretive.

  61. Chemengrgalon 12 Dec 2007 at 9:43 pm

As soon as Emerson started talking about the tenuous relationship between fathers and daughters…I totally thought Emerson is a dad

  62. rockerbabyfi12on 12 Dec 2007 at 9:44 pm

Wow. They so just set up a lovely episode in the future with Emerson’s daughter issue. And maybe a new character for next season. lol

Who the eff hides bodies in snowmen!? I’m never gonna be able to look at them the same again!

And I loved Emerson’s reaction to thinking he was dead. lol

  63. Chuck (Kath)on 12 Dec 2007 at 9:44 pm

Kimber & Ashes - Try to be careful of double comments ok? Thanks :)

  64. Asheson 12 Dec 2007 at 9:44 pm

I’m really in shock. I wonder if that means he is divorced or was he never married in the first place.

And Ned and Chuck weren’t made for each other, they can’t add up to anything but that.

  65. Asheson 12 Dec 2007 at 9:45 pm

    sorry, were, not weren’t.

  66. Kimberon 12 Dec 2007 at 9:45 pm

Oops, sorry. I didn’t think they were doubling. Or do you just mean two comments at once?

  67. Asheson 12 Dec 2007 at 9:47 pm

sorry, didn’t realize I was doing it. *blushes*

  68. rockerbabyfi12on 12 Dec 2007 at 9:51 pm

Thank god, Chuck. Bet Oscar is piiiiissed.

P.S. - Am I the only one that looks at the clock every week and thinks “Oh no! Only 40 minutes left!” “Oh no! Now there’s 30!” and so on?

  69. Asheson 12 Dec 2007 at 9:52 pm

That was a great hallucination of Lily’s. And I’m really glad Chuck decided not to tell Oscar. While he is the rational choice of confidante, I agree that it is her and Ned’s secret.

  70. Kimberon 12 Dec 2007 at 9:54 pm

Yah for Chuck! And yeah … Lily’s hallucination was hilarious. Aww, look at poor Chuck in the graveyard. :(

  71. Polarison 12 Dec 2007 at 9:55 pm

Hey guys. I won’t be able to see the show until tomorrow (school.) If you don’t mind could someone tell me what happends?

  72. Kimberon 12 Dec 2007 at 9:56 pm

Ack! Lily *is* Chuck’s mother! I knew it.

  73. Asheson 12 Dec 2007 at 9:57 pm

The monkey? wow. Really didn’t see that one coming.

  74. Chemengrgalon 12 Dec 2007 at 9:59 pm

    Holy crap!

  75. rockerbabyfi12on 12 Dec 2007 at 9:59 pm

    NO WAY!

  76. Asheson 12 Dec 2007 at 9:59 pm

Wow, how were you a full 5 minutes ahead of us, Kimber?

  77. Kimberon 12 Dec 2007 at 10:01 pm

Whoops … was I really? That’s odd. I’m in Canada .. maybe our station was a bit ahead of ABC? (I know it is for Grey’s Anatomy).

  78. rockerbabyfi12on 12 Dec 2007 at 10:01 pm

That’s what I was thinking, Ashes.

  79. Lilyon 12 Dec 2007 at 10:01 pm

The person who though Lily was Chuck’s mom was right. Congrats! And WOW, I am still in shock.

  80. Chemengrgalon 12 Dec 2007 at 10:02 pm

I can’t believe that was the last one… my Wednesdays will never be the same…

  81. Asheson 12 Dec 2007 at 10:03 pm

    That would explain it, Kimber.

I know. This show has made the beginning of my week bearable. What on earth will we do next week?

  82. Kimberon 12 Dec 2007 at 10:03 pm

Let’s just hope the writers get a fair contract so they can get back to writing us our show! This can’t be it for the season!

  83. Lilyon 12 Dec 2007 at 10:04 pm

But it’s not really the last one. It’s just a very long break. Right? They will come back, right?

  84. rockerbabyfi12on 12 Dec 2007 at 10:04 pm

I think that next week, we should all just gather anyway to lament the loss of the best show ever.

  85. Polarison 12 Dec 2007 at 10:04 pm

    Anyone?

  86. Chemengrgalon 12 Dec 2007 at 10:06 pm

Sure, let’s keep the party going… I have nothing else to do on Wednesday night :) We can talk about our favorite moments, quotes, etc. so far…

  87. Chuck (Kath)on 12 Dec 2007 at 10:07 pm

I so didn’t want Lily to be Chuck’s mother, I wanted it to be Vivian.

I still can’t believe that the next episode is not written, filmed…anything. It’s just so sad that a show like this has this added obstacle. A freshman show has enough on its own.

I can’t say that this was my favorite of all episodes, but that’s probably because I was sad most of the time. Way to end on a downer Fuller and team.

What did you guys think of tonight’s ep?

  88. Kimberon 12 Dec 2007 at 10:07 pm

If the PieMakers are willing to host it, I’d be game for a weekly chat, too. Just to discuss our favorite moments, lines, and maybe hypothesize for the future?

Lily - to the best of my knowledge this is the last episode at the moment. No more have been written or filmed.

  89. Lilyon 12 Dec 2007 at 10:08 pm

That sounds wonderful, rocker. It will keep the magic going for hollydays.

  90. Kimberon 12 Dec 2007 at 10:09 pm

This wasn’t my favourite episode either … it was very depressing, and I also had mixed feelings on Lily possibly being Chuck’s real mother. It feels like too much was introduced: Emerson’s family that he never talks about, all of the Ned/Chuck drama, the reveal of Lily as Chuck’s mom. This episode will need a re-viewing this weekend for sure.

  91. Shardithon 12 Dec 2007 at 10:10 pm

Tonight’s episode didn’t have enough Ned and Chuck - and that in itself was a downer. I think Chuck just needed to be alone for a while to “digest” what really happened that terrible day.

Although, why Ned doesn’t just put on some winter gloves, his head on Chuck’s back, and give her a very careful hug without their faces touching is beyond me. That girl really needed a hug in the graveyard.

  92. Lilyon 12 Dec 2007 at 10:10 pm

But Kimber, did they sign any contract, that bond abc to pay for more or is it up in the air?

  93. Shardithon 12 Dec 2007 at 10:13 pm

Loved Olive taking Chuck in and her comment…”did you take your picture of your friends being supportive?”

  94. Chemengrgalon 12 Dec 2007 at 10:13 pm

Wasn’t PD picked up for a full season? Which means that we’ll get more episodes once the strike is over (not immediately, but eventually). I’m pretty sure that’s the status right now… or I could be dreaming…

  95. Lilyon 12 Dec 2007 at 10:19 pm

That is what I though, Chemen, but then the whole talk about today being the last eppy got me all paranoied.

Today was a good, but very depressing eppy. I did love the part with Ned and Chuck as kids. Wasn’t it the first time, we heard little Chuck speak? I loved that.

  96. Asheson 12 Dec 2007 at 10:19 pm

I agree that this wasn’t my favorite. It was pretty dark, especially for this time of year. But it did have all the typical cliff-hanger elements and left a lot open for the next set of episodes, whenever they come.

I’d be up for a chat next week. Goodness knows I check this site several times a day for updates and new comments.

  97. Kimberon 12 Dec 2007 at 10:32 pm

Yes, PD was picked up for a full season (21 or 22 episodes), but I gather they only had the initial 9 written when the strike hit. So if the writers return to work I think they could get some more scripts written, and have them produced. But I’m sure there is a “deadline” of sorts, after which time the seasons will be left as is, and no new episodes will be written until the next season.

I agree with you, Shardith. I was really hoping that Ned would give Chuck a hug in the graveyard, as she seriously needed one.

  98. maseon 12 Dec 2007 at 10:34 pm

Great show tonight. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many commercials though. They had one every 5 minutes tonight(I kid you not). Great cliff hangers. I really think they are trying to up the ante so to speak and get people really into the story lines. The episodes are few and far between so they need to introduce new elements quick in order to keep the audience they have. This show will be picked up for a full season next yr , if this is indeed the last show of this season. And yes Lee needs a hair cut or at least a good conditioner to tame the mane.

  99. Chuck (Kath)on 12 Dec 2007 at 10:35 pm

Check back throughout the week and we’ll let you know what we have planned for next Wednesday. And just because the show is on hiatus, it doesn’t mean that ThePieMaker.com is going on hiatus too. We plan on bringing you all the latest Pushing Daisies news.

  100. Lilyon 12 Dec 2007 at 10:41 pm

I wanted Ned to hug Chuck, but then it left me with the question of whet ever he can touch her hair, because if he can’t a hair fly into his face while he is carefully hugging her and BAM she’s dead. That would solve the whole I want to see my dad again problem, but then the show would be over for good.

To chat next week, we have to ask the mods first, right?

By the way, my name here is not a reference to PD. It’s my real nickname. I didn’t want to steal the name of a character. It’s just the nickname my friends give me. It’s stupid, but it’s been bothering me since I realised it.

  101. Shardithon 12 Dec 2007 at 10:43 pm

As for Lee’s (Ned’s) hair, I think his personal grooming was suffering due to his depression over Chuck.

  102. Shardithon 12 Dec 2007 at 10:47 pm

Lily, I’m not bothered by your name =)) It’s certainly appropriate here.

If Ned can’t even touch Chuck’s hair, he can certainly hold her hands with gloves on. Or hug an arm, even, through winter coats. Gosh, that was so frustrating!!! Santa’s bringing gloves for those two this Christmas!!!

  103. Asheson 12 Dec 2007 at 10:53 pm

I think they don’t touch on principle. If they got used to touching through gloves, the likelihood they’d accidentally touch without them increases. By sheer force of habit, he could accidentally kill her.

  104. Lilyon 12 Dec 2007 at 11:01 pm

Thanks Shardith, because it really bothered me :).

I would like to have seen them hug with gloves, but I have to agree with Ashes, that it could be dangerous. Imagine if one of their gloves got a hole in it and they don’t realise it soon enough. I am already on the verge of having an heart attack everytime those two sit next to each other, I would be scared to death if they huged, while not wearing a body bag or those bee pioners costumes.

  105. rockerbabyfi12on 12 Dec 2007 at 11:35 pm

    I agree with Ashes.

And I’m “grr”ing at my computer screen right now because I typed out the longest post in Pie Maker history. And then the page got messed up! And I’m way too lazy to write it again!!

But I WILL say, that I liked tonight’s episode just fine. I thought it was an appropriate season finale.
Also, maybe Lily’s confession was a little….loopy….cause she DID think she was talking to a mermaid….after all. lol Maybe she meant it in a different way?

    I loved Olive’s “Oh look…it’s Ned….bye!”
And I loved that when Ned went to see Lily and Vivian, and they asked who it was, he still just said “Ned, The Pie Maker.” I LOVE that he still doesn’t have a last name.

  106. Chris Bon 13 Dec 2007 at 12:04 am

Sooooo, any overall thoughts of this being a finale? good…bad??

  107. rockerbabyfi12on 13 Dec 2007 at 12:37 am

I think it was a little obvious that they re-did part of it to squeeze in more craziness. But I liked it anyway. It’s just soooo frustrating that we have to wait for more.

  108. lilawallaceon 13 Dec 2007 at 1:03 am

    auugh! Lily is Chuck’s mother!

  109. Adamon 13 Dec 2007 at 1:07 am

    WOW
    lily is chucks mother
    omg
    this is a huge twist
i cant wait to see it when it comes back

  110. stephanieon 13 Dec 2007 at 1:32 am

    K wait, I’m confused.
    What’s Aunt Lily’s relation to Chuck’s dad?

    ..I honestly hope they’re not siblings :|

  111. Asheson 13 Dec 2007 at 2:12 am

If you go to the Spoilers post comments (about the third article down on the home page) theories about Lily being Chuck’s mom were discussed, I think.

*sigh* Loved it to bits (again). Watched live, re-wound the tape and watched for a second time. :)

I love Ned standing out in the snow in long lop-sided scarf (great continuity on that by the way- the moment I saw him wearing it like that I figured there’d be a shot that didn’t fit in with it messed up and the wrong length- but I didn’t notice one). And the mermaid and the monkey and the cake crab and the bees with their bee cozies and those extremely shiny golden scissors…..The imagery never disappoints.

Excellent revelations as well- it’;s about time we started getting some back story for Emerson. I’m very curious about this daughter. And Lily…..wow…..congrats to whoever it was that called that one! And the part in the graveyard was really nice. Though it does bring up the question- can Ned really bring back someone who has been dead for twenty years? That sounds like some pretty icky business…..and once again brings up the meat issue. I’m getting very curious as to where the limits are. Have to wonder, if Ned brought something back to life that was damaged and left it, would it repair itself? (as in would cancer disappear for example, or would someone chopped in half re-grow the rest of itself if left re-animated for long enough? Could Ned bring back the dinosaurs from touching a bone…..Probably not, but we’ve never seen him keep alive a damaged person long enough to know how this works…..there was that whole mention of the bear skin rug…..and I’m just rambling in brackets, so I’ll end this post now)

  113. Britton 13 Dec 2007 at 3:14 am

I know! The bearskin rug! So… why don’t his clothes turn back into sheep? If you think about it, almost everything that we use that isn’t plastic or metal was once alive - everything that’s wooden like paper is made from plants or made from animals like clothes or food… what are the limits? Maybe there IS a time eclipse!!

  114. Shardithon 13 Dec 2007 at 9:04 am

Plant’s aren’t much of an issue, but maybe Ned can’t wear leather shoes. (That’s why he wears Converse “Chucks” sneakers all the time!!)

Ned did bring back that convict who had been dead for a few years and was a bit “moist”. I can’t remember how many years that had been. “I’m not touching that” was his comment about the body that had broken apart on the ground, so I assume he could reanimate it, but most definitely didn’t want to.

As far as Lily being Chuck’s Mom, I theorize that Lily gave her up so she could keep going with her career….to her brother, who wanted to have a little girl to raise.

  115. […] Winter Finale “Corpsicle” may have been last night but this morning we have reason to celebrate! The GOLDEN GLOBE […]

  116. rockerbabyfi12on 13 Dec 2007 at 12:21 pm

The bear skin rug didn’t like…turn back into a bear or anything. It just kind of…moved. I would think that leather would be an issue, but things like wool and cotton don’t move to begin with. So whether they’re alive or dead doesn’t matter. Plus, remember, he touches it once and it’s “alive”, but once he puts the clothes on a second time, they’re dead again. And just like regular clothes.

And the exchange rate would be….what?….another one of his shirts dies?

  117. Katon 13 Dec 2007 at 1:37 pm

I loved this episode. It was just the right reaction from Chuck and in her usual direct way, having to hate him for just a little while. Ned panicking and wanting Chuck to forgive him and even thinking about waking her father, until he realized it would only hurt her, again. Emerson did a little bit of word vomiting himself, hilarious. I also love Olive and the aunts. Olive could hear the truth twenty times and still not put it together, lovely. I can’t wait for the traveling homeopathic salesman to return, more music please. The boy with no heart now having such a heart, you can only imagine the change. Strangely enough, I’m not too shocked about Lily, in a weird way (of course is there any other?) it fits. Great episode, great show, already going into withdrawl. Also, has anyone tried the pie crust with Gruyere?

  118. rockerbabyfi12on 13 Dec 2007 at 3:11 pm

Apparently apple pies with cheese in the crust isn’t all that uncommon. So I guess other kinds of fruit pies with cheese would be around too. I haven’t ever tried it and it sounds kind of icky. But I’m curious.

  119. Shardithon 13 Dec 2007 at 6:44 pm

Apple pies with a sharp cheddar on the side are my favorite way to enjoy them. A slice of apple without the cheddar bite is a bit too plain for my taste. Good lord, I sound like Aunt Lily and Aunt Vivian.

  120. Kaiton 13 Dec 2007 at 8:12 pm

Never tried cheese on pie crust…..I’ve started baking pies since this show started (had never tried before), gotta try it with some nice cheddar on the crust next time. My “cheese box” is starting to resemble the aunts a bit at the moment, with all the Christmas cheeses….. :)

  121. Elisabethon 14 Dec 2007 at 12:15 am

I don’t know about the pie, but apples and cheese are delicious together.

  122. Courtneyon 14 Dec 2007 at 3:41 am

OMG. This is my favorite show ever. If this is the last episode of the season (and it best not be or I know quite a few people who will be very upset) it definitely left a lot of questions unanswered. I must say that this last episode was one of my favorite and it left me exhausted after watching it from all the twists and turns (and yelling at the television). I really can’t wait for the next episode, so those contracts need to get settled ASAP!!

Wouldn’t it be a really strange twist if Emerson and Aunt Lily were Chuck’s parents? I mean, Emerson has a daughter and he did have strong opinions about her at the beginning…. I hope it’s not so but I could see that being a plot twist later.

  123. Susanon 14 Dec 2007 at 3:59 am

Great episode! We were warned many balls would be put in the air and I’m so glad they didn’t keep Chuck mad at Ned… thanks to the writers for the fact that Lily being Chuck’s mom was answered before the hiatus as well… I think it fits beautifully. We were definitely due for a little emotion from Emerson, so that was also pretty satisfying. Oscar wasn’t as wacky as I wanted from his last appearance, but Lily’s tripping made up for it — so, so amazing. All in all, I liked it more than Bitter Sweets. The murder case was much better this time than in some others.

Someone commented on the presence of monkeys in several episodes, and after the monkey’s star role this time, maybe there’s something to that pattern.

  124. Shardithon 14 Dec 2007 at 8:53 am

I was the one who commented about the monkeys. I think it’s a running gag of some kind.

  125. Shardithon 14 Dec 2007 at 9:09 am

BTW, there was one moment that helped make up for the sad tone of this episode; the moment when Chuck “realized that the person she really wanted to share all her secrets with was the Piemaker”….and took back her lock of hair quite decisively and finally from a disappointed Oscar.

That, and Aunt Lily snarfing the entire pie down like an addict getting her fix. Okay, two moments.

Oh, and Olive being her snarky self and telling Ned he was being all “Streetcar Named Desire” yelling Chuck’s name out in the street and that it was beneath him….okay three…

And Emerson panicking, thinking he’d just died and Ned brought him back to life with his finger…okay four!!! =))

  126. Shardithon 14 Dec 2007 at 9:11 am

OH….and the shotgun being stuck out the mail slot right into Ned’s jewels…OKAY…..five…..now that I think of it, it wasn’t ALL sad!! =)

  127. Cassidyon 14 Dec 2007 at 10:07 am

I LOVED THIS FRIGGIN EPISODE! OMFG PUSHING DAISIES ROCKS MY WORLD!

  128. Ashon 14 Dec 2007 at 12:18 pm

hey everybody, i’m finally back and commenting! i had an important event that i had to go to wed night so i couldn’t watch PD here with everybody else, but i just finished it and i thought it was great (as usual). have to say that i was completely shocked at lily being chucks mom, but that her drugged pie-induced hallucinations were hilarious. i also liked the part where the aunts shove the shotgun through the mail slot-clearly they’re still holding on to some last anti-social threads. i sooo wanted ned to find a way to hug chuck at the graveyard, and i totally felt the emotion when he was talking to her in olive’s flat and teared up. we need more episodes of PD, and the sooner the better….otherwise we’re all going to start exhibiting withdrawal symptoms. :)

  129. roxas0027on 14 Dec 2007 at 1:23 pm

Ned needs a haircut!!!!!!!!!! ok so my tevo didn’t record the episode and I quickly became suicidal but I will watch the episode online and the peace will be restored.

  130. Katon 14 Dec 2007 at 4:29 pm

I also loved the fact that Chuck only wanted to share her secrets with Ned. I like the fact that their love is so big that it encompasses all sort of feelings and frustrations. It is snowing this weekend, think I’m going to try the hot apple pie and cheddar, never had it before. Maybe I’ll start with the milder or go straight for the sharp?

  131. Asheson 14 Dec 2007 at 8:53 pm

I was rewatching the episode and found two very interesting tid-bits I missed on the first viewing…

Olive’s pillow on her bed reads “Horse lovers are stable people”. Very appropriate with her background.

    and

Did any one else catch the story about the train in Europe and the stolen watch? Lily’s reaction to the story (and Vivian’s comment about the girl in the story’s mood after the incident) makes me wonder if the watch wasn’t the only thing “stolen” in the incident. Maybe we’ve got a hint as to Chuck’s conception?

  132. WaywardWindon 16 Dec 2007 at 5:43 pm

So, back to the Hitchcock references, it struck me this episode that the whole Ned/Chuck/Olive triangle is kind of like Marnie, with Mark/Marnie/Lil triangle — the man who saves the woman after she’s been involved in something illegal, and in order to conceal the truth, she has to live with him. But, this makes the other woman, who’s been pursuing him unsuccessfully, jealous and she tries to uncover the secret to win him back.

(and, as a pitiful side note, ever since watching Marnie, I can’t help but listen to how people pronounce “insurance” and Olive says it with the Southern inflection)

  133. Shardithon 17 Dec 2007 at 8:59 am

As a bird owner, I can’t help but notice that in the header picture, that Greenwing Macaw’s cage is pristine and spotless, something we bird owners know is NOT a condition that happens in real life!

  134. Fortson 19 Dec 2007 at 4:51 pm

Mine didn’t record!! It wasn’t on the guide information at all when I looked back to the 12th. D: When will it be on again???

  135. rockerbabyfi12on 19 Dec 2007 at 7:36 pm

Forts, You can watch it online at abc.com

I just rewatched the episode and there were a couple connections that I made that I hadn’t made the first time. Of course they were minor and I immediately forgot what they were.

But I did listen more closely to the train story. I don’t know how, but I completely missed the story the first time except the part about the watch. It was so bizarre.

In any case, it’s Wednesday everybody.
Commence week one without PD. I’m sure I’ll be fine with no new episode this week because we HAVE gone two weeks without it before. But by next week I’ll be jonesing for an episode!

  136. Sgt Pepperon 26 Dec 2007 at 2:12 am

I hope chuck dies forever and Olive runs off with Fredo. I want Ned to be unhappy. Well not really I just get annoyed at how sappy Ned and Chuck’s relationship is. Its like watching two kintergardeners play.

    Love Olive and Emerson though.

There was some info about Pushing daisies possibly coming back in the spring, there are a total of 12 scripts apparently. I found the info from here:

This is by far the best episode of the entire series and proves my theory it just keeps getting better. I loved the wish a wish lady, she was a riot. I can’t wait until October 1st now so we can seee some new episodes.

This is clearly the best website for the fans out there, it beats the official site by leaps and bounds in sheer content. My one and only want is perhaps to see downloadable sound quotes from the episodes. I’d love to get a few to add to a personal mix i’m making as a Christmas present for my sister who’s new to the show. Any suggestions for other websites?
