Looks great! Can’t wait for the premiere, and now I’m looking forward to this one even more! Gah why does this show have to be so awesome:)

I’ve actually seen this episode (more on that soon) and it’s incredible!!!

  3. […] PUSHING DAISIES is quite the quotable show. There was hardly a scene that didn’t have some memorable dialogue. We’ve gathered some of our favorite quotes from the “Pie-lette” and now we want to know your favorite quotes. Feel free to add to our list. And don’t forget to keep a pen close by this coming Wednesday and jot down your favorite quotes from “Dummy“. […]

So excited! I’ll definitely be here tonight!

This is, far and away, my favorite show on TV right now, new, returning or otherwise. I can’t wait until 8:00! Are there any forums on thepiemaker.com? I don’t know anyone else who watches the show yet, and I can’t wait to discuss it with other people! Thanks for putting together such a nice site!

  6. Kaiton 10 Oct 2007 at 11:26 am

This is such a wonderful episode, our friends in the states have a real treat to look forward to this evening! I am also wondering if there are/will be forums at The Pie Maker?

  7. The Beckerton 10 Oct 2007 at 1:44 pm

That preview almost made my day. I love how Chuck did the Emerson face when he was trying to get back in the car.

    Is it 7 yet?

  8. The Pie Makeron 10 Oct 2007 at 8:37 pm

Chenoweth fans rejoice….2nd episode in and she’s already signing!!

  9. Raeon 10 Oct 2007 at 8:43 pm

This is what the narrator says when I’m watching this show, “She felt dizzy and giggled for no reason.”

    Also, Lee Pace is yummy!

  10. Emilyon 10 Oct 2007 at 8:47 pm

There’s so much visual and dialogue to take in, it’s almost overwhelming, in a good way!

  11. Michelleon 10 Oct 2007 at 8:53 pm

A kiss through a body bag is better than no kiss at all. And the fact that they can make a body-bag kiss so awesome is a testament to their chemistry, don’t you think?

  12. Raeon 10 Oct 2007 at 8:55 pm

The “green” CEO driving a Hummer is classic.

  13. Emilyon 10 Oct 2007 at 9:00 pm

I’m just starting to notice Chuck’s distinct 1960’s clothing, I love it!

  14. Michelleon 10 Oct 2007 at 9:01 pm

Jeez Louise…can the two of them be any more beautiful? And can their relationship be any sweeter? I never pegged myself as an old-fashioned kinda gal, but I’m really liking the fact that they can’t be together in a traditional sense. Sigh.

  15. Chuckon 10 Oct 2007 at 9:11 pm

Another AMAZING episode. I don’t know where to even begin. Emily, I do know what you mean about it almost being overwhelming because there’s so much to listen to and look at. PD is one of those shows that you need to watch over and over again because there’s just no way you can catch everything the first time around.

I loved the kiss (of course). How sweet are those two?

And what about Young Ned’s dead frogs and birds? That was so funny.

  16. Nedon 10 Oct 2007 at 9:11 pm

Sweet Jesus, DUMMY just finished and I’m still all swoony! It was hyper realistic, a candy shop of visual goodness, and a Veronica Mars guest star never hurts!

    What did you guys think?

  17. Nedon 10 Oct 2007 at 9:13 pm

Rae, the Hummer vs Eco was hysterical!

  18. Michelleon 10 Oct 2007 at 9:13 pm

    >What did you guys think?

I think I’m glad it has the top spot on my TiVo Season Pass so I can watch the episodes over…and over…and over…to catch all of the stuff I missed the first time around. And even the stuff I caught the first time around, and just need to see 20 times, anyway.

  19. Raeon 10 Oct 2007 at 9:15 pm

The new Pie Hole front on the building is a bit jarring but it’s cute once you get used to it.

I was happy to see the city morgue because that was the building I saw them starting to paint when I did my WB tour in July.

Oh, oh… how great was the shaking flower car?! When the flower car’s shaking, don’t come knockin’.

  20. Michelleon 10 Oct 2007 at 9:16 pm

And I can’t get over how gorgeous the entire show is. It’s eye candy. I love, love, LOVE those colors. Lime green is one of my favorites, anyway, and it was EVERYWHERE in this episode. It all adds to the retro feel of the entire show - the 60s clothes Chuck wears, the old-fashioned chivalry (even if it’s not necessarily how they’d choose for it to be) between Ned and Chuck.

  21. Emilyon 10 Oct 2007 at 9:18 pm

I’m thinking too many things right now, again, a great feeling for a 1-hour show! I can’t wait to watch it again tomorrow!

Some immediate thoughts: I would love to have a musical number from Kristin every week. It didn’t feel contrived or out of place, which moments like that sometimes can. Also, it makes me very very nervous when they all sit in that booth together. Ned and Chuck’s feet could touch so easily! Do you think that tension is at all intentional?

And while the kiss and hand-holding of Ned and Chuck were so satisfying and made me weak in my stomach, I find myself completely sympathetic to Olive’s love and dedication to Ned. I hope she remains as loving and doesn’t become too bitter.

  22. Emilyon 10 Oct 2007 at 9:20 pm

I think the whole color scheme and 60’s vibe is intentional…even the occasional musical number. Very reminiscent of camp and innocence of movies from the era like Pillow Talk.

  23. Chuckon 10 Oct 2007 at 9:22 pm

I loved the musical number but I’m wondering if other people might be turned off by it.

  24. Raeon 10 Oct 2007 at 9:24 pm

Chuck, I had a similar thought. I don’t want it to go away because I love musical numbers but a friend of mine is giving the show a try and I’m pretty sure she won’t like that part. It’s just not something she likes. Hopefully the rest will override it, if she didn’t like it.

  25. michael waskomon 10 Oct 2007 at 9:41 pm

well i think this second epi proved that this series may make it longer than one season, especially since i’m sure we were all thinking “how will chuck and the piemaker ever kiss”.

i’d love to see this show presented in a wide screen format though.

and god forbid it gets canceled i hope the dvd’s will be loaded with extras.

anyone think this tv show is too smart and original for tv?

  26. I_Heart_Nedon 10 Oct 2007 at 9:48 pm

This show is a wonderful mix of comedy and drama (dramedy?). I love the inventive ways they’re letting Ned and Chuck get together and actually touch.

  27. Alyon 10 Oct 2007 at 9:49 pm

I think this episode was well-played. The acting is still spectacular, as is the writing and directing. I’m rather amused that I think the first word we ever heard young Ned utter was, “No.” I’m really curious if there’s any significance in that.

I adore the relationship, and they way that they’ve already adapted their lives to fit around one another. The beds are clearly separated to keep them from rolling into one another. They call to each other as they walk through doors. Now he has the border up in the car so they can sit near one another. I just adore it.

And I LOVE that they shared a kiss, even if it was through plastic. There was just something terribly romantic about it, despite the fact that their lips couldn’t actually touch. And I love that Chuck had that bit of affirmation that, even though she doesn’t know everything about him, she knows he loves her.

  28. Erinon 10 Oct 2007 at 9:50 pm

haha! I was wondering when they’d come up with a full body prophylactic, how clever that it was a body bag!

I didn’t think the Olive (yay, Chenoweth sang!) musical number was too contrived. It was funny… along with the slamming/swinging of Olive into the building. I’m starting to really like the relationship that she has with the dog. Is that wrong?

Rae said: “Oh, oh… how great was the shaking flower car?! When the flower car’s shaking, don’t come knockin’.”
    HAHA! Titanic… hands… steamy windows.

  29. Kaiton 10 Oct 2007 at 10:28 pm

Such a fantastic episode! I laughed so hard in places I just about choked on my own piece of pie! :P

I love their home life- how cute is that? The twin beds! I’m glad that they call when walking through the doorway. And calling the fridge the “cheese box”? Love the cheese!

And the body bags were brilliant. It really is a testament to these actor’s chemistry that they could make that scene work. Same with the musical number. This is one wonderful cast.

And loving Emerson- the hand gun cozies. :P And the look on his face when Chuck said: “I’m not so sheltered as you think, my aunt Lily kept historical erotica in the cheese cellar”. Gold. :D

  30. Psappyon 10 Oct 2007 at 10:47 pm

Another fantastic hour! Just the way Ned looks at Chuck makes me smile and squee. Did anyone notice Professor Lansky, er, Professor Landry, er, the bad guy. Why is he always the bad guy! Ha!

Anyway, I love it, I love it, I love it!

  31. hockeybychoiceon 10 Oct 2007 at 10:57 pm

I fortunately got to see the episode yesterday and I’m pretty sure my crush for Ned has grown ten fold.

This show is a must(!!) watch in HD. So pretty.

  32. Kellyon 10 Oct 2007 at 11:20 pm

I was so worried that I would be disappointed this week after the lovefest last week, but I wasn’t at all. I like the musical number too…I think it fits in perfectly with the tone of the show.

Yay Professor Landry sighting! I knew I knew him from something and then all the sudden it hit me - Veronica!

Definitely needs a repeat viewing so I can pull out my favorite quotes.

  33. Chuckon 10 Oct 2007 at 11:22 pm

“You love secrets. You want to marry secrets and have little half-secret, half-human babies”

I love Lee Pace. I want to marry Lee Pace and have little half-Kathie, half-Lee Pace babies.

  34. Kristion 11 Oct 2007 at 12:18 am

hehe such a cute episode!! It made me all swoony… I love the relationship between Ned and Chuck - the innocence of it is just adorable!

  35. Brittonon 11 Oct 2007 at 1:14 am

ahhhh, i love this show so much! there are no words to describe how wonderful it is. it’s a fairy-tale world that i never want to leave :)

  36. marmaladeon 11 Oct 2007 at 1:19 am

This episode was too quirky and silly for mainstream audiences. I know a lot of people who tuned into the pilot (and loved it) who were turned off with this episode. Some even say that singing put the nail in the coffin. I predict a huge drop in ratings in the coming weeks until the show eventually gets canceled.

As much as i love the show, I knew that it would be difficult to make the whole premise last for a whole season. Eventually the quirkiness would be redundant, and everything would seem tired. Premises like these are only good for a mini series, or better yet a two hour made for TV movie.

  37. The Other Whitneyon 11 Oct 2007 at 2:35 am

I loved the episode tonight, and just finished my second viewing.

Question: Is my mind playing tricks on me or was that Anna Friel and her wonderful British accent reading the Dandy Lion promotional video?
    (It was her, right Kath?)

Also I’m adding another tally to the pro side of Kristin singing. I hope this was not a lone instance.

  38. Krison 11 Oct 2007 at 3:10 am

I absolutely LOVED this episode! I really expect great things from this show and it always meets (or exceeds) my expectations! The narration continues to be wonderful and the writing is perfect! I laughed a lot during this episode and i just love the dialogue. And Emerson’s crocheted gun cozies were hilarious. I have grown to really love these characters (even though it’s only the second episode). They were cast perfectly, even down to the mortician. I wasn’t bothered at all by the singing either b/c the whole scene was really cute and she’s very talented. And, of course, Lee Pace is extremely handsome and makes viewing the show all the more sweeter.

Overall, i can’t wait until next Wednesday! I find myself dying in anticipation for the next episode which i only do for The Office so that’s saying something for this show. I’m so excited for the rest of this season!!! *happy fists*

Another perfectly wonderful episode of Pushing Daisies last night! How much do I love this show? Let me count the ways….Professor Landry (Veronica Mars!!!), a Titanic reference (the hand on the fogged up car window), a musical number, Olive hanging off the building spying on Ned and Chuck, Olive’s daydream of Ned and Chuck in the bubble bath, Emerson’s love of knitting… There’s just too much to love about this show. I hope it stays on the air for a very, very, very long time.

I also love how Jeanine remembered EVERYTHING correctly about her first Bernard sighting, right down to the color of his tie and what kind of sandwich he was eating and the fact that he was drinking 2% milk. But he couldn’t even remember exactly what color red her hair was. Of course, he remembered the important stuff - her gorgeous smile - but I think it’s a little dig at how woman often pay attention to small details and men…sometimes don’t. Not always, of course, but you know…

  45. Kaiton 11 Oct 2007 at 3:12 pm

Aww, the dessert spoons comment- that has to be one of my favourites. Only two episodes in and so many amazing lines. It’s often hard to find this many memorable snippets of dialogue in entire seasons of other shows! :D

HELP! ABC.com has a glitch right when the radio starts to short circuit. What happens? How do they get back to the pie hole safely??

I love this show. Are there thorough recaps somewhere on this site? I can’t find any…
I forgot PD was on at 7 and not 8 and when I got home and sat down to watch the episode, imagine my dismay when Private Practice was on and I had missed it completely!!
Please, someone fill in the gap for me??
    Thanks!

  47. Kaiton 12 Oct 2007 at 9:49 pm

    Hi Beth,
Ouch! What a place to cut out. :S

Several reviews on the front page contain full summarys, abc.com is putting together a comic each week to summarize each episode I think (link on the front page of The Pie Maker). Or, I’ll list the events right here and you can read it that way if you want:

-As the radio starts to short circuit the Dandy Lion car hurtles onto the street in front of the Pie Hole, where Ned puts on the brakes stopping just inches in front of Olive, who is taking Digby for a walk. Effectively saving everyone in the car. Olive is relived to see him, and the narrator notes that she figures what Ned and Chuck were doing that night probably wasn’t very romantic.
-The Dandy Lion car company is out of business and the factory replaced with a field of daisies. Mark Chase can’t get away from the police because his Hummer’s fuel tank is empty.
-Olive watches Ned and Chuck all happy and notes that she’s not giving up on him.
-Ned installs a plexiglass window between the driver and passenger seats of his car, with a glove thing. This way Chuck can ride shotgun and hold his hand. *cue “awwww” moment filled with eye gazing*
    The End

    Hope that helps. :)

I’m in love with this show. I’ve already watched each episode 3x on abc.com. The dialogue is amazing. My roommate is sick of hearing me talk about it non-stop. I can’t wait until the next episode!
