i think wath happens is that chuck and olive goes to the bell and someone starts pushing the bell and it makes chuck and olive fall and ned will bring back to live olive…or chuck again…

  10. kristinloveron 13 Oct 2008 at 1:26 am

Ned wouldnt be able to bring Chuck alive agen thats the whole reason they cant touch but i think that olive might fall from the bell tour or something and ned saves here i dont know why but i have a feeling this might be my new favorite episode i cant wait also another thing i was looking at wednsday on my tv and it said pushing daisies wouldnt be on untell 9 this wednsday but i looked at next wendsday and it was back to ragualer time any1 no if it was just a mistake or something

  11. Oliviaon 13 Oct 2008 at 9:41 am

I hope this is the episode when Olive comes back, if she ever does…

  12. Beckyon 13 Oct 2008 at 1:29 pm

I have been wondering about something from the beginning. I was wondering if Chuck can die (from a cause other than Ned touching her) then Ned bring her back to life again. I mean, we know that Ned can’t touch her again as she is, but does that mean if she dies again, he can’t bring her back to life? It’s just a theory that I have about how to get them to touch at the end of the series. I was just wondering…

  13. TVDIVAon 13 Oct 2008 at 11:41 pm

    Becky -

Ned said in BZZZZZZ when Chuck was covered with bees “There is a reason I don’t let Digby play in traffic, Chuck you can still “get killed/be dead” or something like that. So I think the answer is yes, Chuck can still die again by natural means.

I found this website where you can buy gorgeous 8X10 photos from the show for a little over $5 each.

    www.celebrity8X10s.com

I ordered four 8X10s of Ned and Chuck from Season 2.

You may want to check it out.

  14. Jesson 14 Oct 2008 at 9:45 pm

Im almost postive that Olive returns to the pie hole at the end of this episode. Chuck might have been crying cause maybe Olive fianlly let loose all her secrets. Or wait, I remeber reading or hearign that Chuck finds out her mom is still alive. Thats what Olive is going to tell her!

Oh and Ned just might save Olive when she falls. Who knows?

  15. veronicaon 15 Oct 2008 at 12:23 am

kristinlover: if chuk dies again by “natural reasons” I mean, by not being touch by ned, he could bring her back to life again, I’ve been doing some thinking and I’m starting to belive that it may be a way for Ned’s gift to not be an obstacle… maybe :)

  16. Beckyon 15 Oct 2008 at 1:35 pm

Veronica, that’s exactly what I was trying to say in my post above! I’ve been thinking that could happen towards the end of the show (though I didn’t articulate it quite so well). However, I am not so sure that we will ever get to see Ned and Chuck touch, because Lee Pace has said he wants them to never be able to touch, but rather to accept that part of their relationship. Anyway, I really don’t know…and it’s killing me!

  20. JustMe.on 15 Oct 2008 at 8:51 pm

I just loved this episode!! I’m so glad Olive is coming back happy!! am I’m so excited on whats going to happen now that Chuck knows the secret!! Ooooohhhh I can’t wait for next week!!

  21. Brookeon 15 Oct 2008 at 9:08 pm

This episode was very good! The scenes between Olive and Ned are really emotional, and I’m glad that Chuck now knows who her mother really is. But where is next week’s preview?

  22. KCon 15 Oct 2008 at 9:08 pm

This was a really great episode tonight. I’m glad Olive’s going back to the Pie Hole, Chuck knows about the big secret, and Pigby got to play an interesting role this week. Can’t wait for “Frescorts” to air and see how this develops!

  23. rockerbabyfi12on 15 Oct 2008 at 9:11 pm

This episode was great! Which is saying something, because the TV network at my school is all eff-ed up tonight and keeps cutting out every five seconds, but I STILL loved it.

Ned figuring out Olive’s secret was amazing.

And when Olive first walked into Emerson’s office, I thought, “If he laughed at her jocky days, he gonna have a FIELD DAY with this.”

    He didn’t let me down.

I’m looking forward to rewatching this tomorrow on abc.com…when it WON’T be all messed up.

  24. Anastasiaon 15 Oct 2008 at 9:16 pm

This was the cutest episode in the history of forever. I wanted to cry.

  25. Luisaon 15 Oct 2008 at 9:20 pm

This was an amazing episode. I was wondering when they would bring up something about what Chuck/all the other people Ned have brought back saw between death and life. But then they kinda interrupted Chuck talking about it in the chapel. I know she said she was dead then Ned touched her cheek in “Pie-lette”, but I still wanna know!

Classic moment: Emerson hysterically laughing. I couldn’t breathe for a minute there.

Or when they cut to commercial with Chuck hanging out the bellfry!! Could Ned bring her back again?? That would’ve been interesting. But I’m glad with the way it turned out.

And I’d been somewhat mad at Ned for being so callous with Olive last season, so I’m really happy that they’re at peace with each other. That was very, very sweet.

    God, I love this show.

  26. KellyHon 15 Oct 2008 at 9:58 pm

Because Bones wasn’t on tonight, this is a crucial episode as far as the ratings worries are concerned.

This is not helped by ABC’s lack of promotion. I didn’t see ONE PD promo on ABC on Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday. Has the network already given up??? At least wait for the DVR +7 numbers on the premiere, which should come out on Monday. We need to don our own habits and frocks and pray mightily that those numbers are good because they may be our last best chance–as well as a good performance tonight with lack of promotion BUT the absence of Bones.

I guess we can’t do anything about those who are killing their brain cells by watching Knight Rider.

  27. Oliviaon 15 Oct 2008 at 10:32 pm

    Best episode ever.

  28. gloriannon 15 Oct 2008 at 11:38 pm

i loved the charade moment between olive and ned. my fabve scene! it was so cute!

  29. Rhubarbon 16 Oct 2008 at 12:02 am

This episode really rocked it out.

I feel there was a big difference between this episode and the first 2 of this season…maybe because it seemed more emotionally charged and giving for the enjoyment of the viewers, and less fast, furious, and wacked out than the first two - which just showed how clever and witty the writers could be…not sure the viewers could really connect to that much beyond the initial viewing.

As usual, Olive and Emerson were TERRIFIC…loves them so much and Ned impressed me in this episode! I’m tired of seeing him always looking forlorn or distressed or dejected, but in this episode he was loose and funny and I esp. I loved his unchecked reactions in the wake-the-nun-from-the-dead scene. That’s good stuff! I hope he shows more of that in coming eps. I even reacted to Chuck’s performance eventho generally I find myself getting annoyed with her. = /

The one thing that sort of causes me pause about this episode is that in the last scene, when Ned gives Chuck her family tree to fill in with her mom’s name, he gives her a no.2 pencil to use! Um, it’s kind of cute, but also sort of peculiar, no? I mean, this is probably the biggest development/unveiling in the series so far, and it’s gonna be recorded with a pencil?? = ) I dunno, just seems like she should’ve used glue and glitter and fancy doodads or at least just some kind of permanent writing untensil..or somethin…? ..a no.2 pencil…?! funny. i love this show.

  30. gwon 16 Oct 2008 at 12:08 am

I’ve never loved a show like I do this one. Has anyone a list of the show’s sponsors? Doggone it, we’re not a Nielsen household, but we watch PD faithfully, even the reruns. So do many of our friends. There’s nothing like it!

  31. Theresaon 16 Oct 2008 at 12:11 am

    This one was truely fantastic!

I was so glad that Ned and Olive made “peace” with each other and poor little Olive got those secrets out somehow.

And Emerson made me laugh so hard with those names! =]

    haha!

I must say I am dissapointed with ABC though for not showing a preview for next week’s episode! >=[

Is this a bad sign?? Or are they just trying to give publicity to their new show?????

    I am very worried.

  32. Pie Loveron 16 Oct 2008 at 12:25 am

I KNOW! IT WAS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVED IT! :) YAY! But why in the world was there no, “next week on Pushing Daisies?” is that a bad sign? :(

  33. KellyHon 16 Oct 2008 at 12:31 am

That is a very, very, very bad sign indeed.

  34. Jenniferon 16 Oct 2008 at 12:47 am

First time poster here. I was all psyched to come here anyway because I just discovered the podcasts and then after I watched tonight’s episode, I could not contain myself. Just when I thought I could not love this show any more!

I didn’t know it was possible to pack one hour with so many laughs, so much heart, so much emotion. Kristen and Chi outdid even themselves (which only they could do) and Lee and Anna both broke my heart with their performances tonight.

I thought the talk between Olive and Ned was beautiful. It was so refreshing to see two TV characters be so open, frank, and honest about their feelings. Rarely are TV characters so straightforward and it was riveting. The writers can not only dazzle with their witty wordplay but they can also spin gold from the simplest of dialogue.

Chuck’s speech to Ned about being in limbo had me simply awestruck.

I’ve been looking forward to Chuck finding out the truth and the payoff was great.

So many hysterical moments but how much did I love the look on Lee’s face as he shrugged off the thought of the sex on the table and just kept eating! That and the high-end fem care products! Ha!

In other notes, I thought the mystery was great this week and I’m so happy Pigby is going with Olive!

The only downside of this ep was no Swoosie and Ellen - I missed them!

  35. Jenniferon 16 Oct 2008 at 12:50 am

P.S. I work with an exotic pig species we’re trying to get to breed and one of our chemists actually made up a synthetic truffle chemical. I am totally taking this episode to work and I am going to tell them it is research and then I am going to get everybody there hooked on this show!

  36. Jenniferon 16 Oct 2008 at 1:12 am

P.P.S. I loved seeing young Olive!!! (Okay, I’m finished now)

  37. Katieon 16 Oct 2008 at 1:13 am

What an emotional rollercoaster this weeks episode was! I laughed, I cried, I hung onto the edge of my seat to find out what happened, I don’t know how they can top this.

Man, this is the bar right here. This is the absolute best Pushing Daisies has ever been. Can’t wait to see if Frescorts can top this.

But what the heck was with the lack of a preview?

  38. Kimberon 16 Oct 2008 at 9:30 am

Wow. Kath, you were right when you said this episode would have us in giggles. It was HILARIOUS! I’m such a loser, but my favourite scene had to be Olive finding the contraband stuff in Larue’s room, and walking off with the “supreme” package of feminine products!! Too funny. Also, the charades between Ned and Olive, and Ned finding out Aunt Lily’s secret - and then sharing it with Chuck. Awww.

Oh! And the “by proxy” (or was it “pie” proxy?) high five with Emerson?? Reminded me of the “by proxy” hug from last season. Too cute.

Really, really good episode. It was funny, sad, and altogether amazing. Young Olive totally rocked my world too! All the Young Folks are so cute!!!

  39. Luisaon 16 Oct 2008 at 10:42 am

Yeah, I’m really worried about the ratings. They’ve gone down and down but it’s not like the devoted fans are just deciding to do something else. How the hell does Nielsen work, and why I am not a Nielsen-recording person or whatever? Doesn’t make sense. And ABC promoted the crap out of that stupid Life on Mars with zero PD promotion in the past few days, like someone said already. It’s like they’ve given up! Ridiculous!! That really steams me. I mean, maybe a few more people would watch it if they knew it EXISTS.

  40. Oliviaon 16 Oct 2008 at 11:36 am

I love the part when Ned is trying to read the note near the truffle and he’s all cross eyed, and Emerson’s like what the hell?
I almost peed my pants :P

  41. […] we all anxiously await the ratings from last night’s airing of “Bad Habits” I thought it might be nice to bask in some of the glowing reviews from one of Pushing Daisies best […]

  42. KellyHon 16 Oct 2008 at 12:26 pm

Ratings are out. The numbers were a decent improvement overall, but maddeningly, we still finished behind “Knight Rider” (I don’t mind finishing behind CBS’s comedies). FOX still won the hour, but its baseball coverage was well behind the Bones numbers, which might skew any improvement PD had.

It will be interesting to see what ABC does with this as far as promotion, possible scheduling moves, etc.

One day to watch might be Oct. 29. Right now, ABC is electing not to participate in Barack Obama’s mass buyup of air time on that night. NBC and CBS, both of whom have a vested interest in Obama winning, have agreed to the buyup. ABC is owned by Disney, which in the past has been no friend to the Democratic party, and is holding out on capitulating to Obama’s attempt to seize all the airwaves. FOX is not in play here, since they will surely be airing a World Series game if the series is not a sweep. If things remain like this, then PD will be the only scripted series on at that hour. If NBC and CBS split the difference on the Obama love fest, it could equal a big ratings boost for PD. If not…who knows? I still think that ABC needs to try out a new timeslot before making any major decisions on ordering the back nine or even airing the ordered 13. Any increase is mitigated by the fact that we’re still behind Knight Rider (which nobody seems to be able to explain) and in fourth place…

  43. Jamieon 16 Oct 2008 at 1:55 pm

This was my favorite episode of this show ever.
All the characters were stunning and it was so emotional!
Plus, they managed to theme it on religion without being offensive to anyone as far as I can tell. Its a touchy subject and they pulled it off flawlessly!
    I loved loved loved it!

  44. Kimberon 16 Oct 2008 at 2:01 pm

Ha! Olivia - I had forgotten about that part, and it was one of my favourites! Lee Pace sure has an expressive face (and brows). And watching him squint, cross his eyes, and look dazed as he scarfed down all that yummy looking food - it was hilarious!!

  45. miaon 16 Oct 2008 at 5:19 pm

I loved the scenes with olive & ned in this ep and of course emerson was his usual hilarious if not sarcastic self!

    Im worried about the ratings…
what night do you all think would be better? Friday?
Personally I also liked it being on at 9 instead of 8 with all the daytime type commercials…

& there was no jim dale narration last night..
    Im missed that as well.

I want to see pigby & digby meet too! I hope she is bringing him back “home”. and now where is chuck going to live????

  46. rockerbabyfi12on 16 Oct 2008 at 6:03 pm

Friday is generally NOT a good night for TV shows because people go out on Fridays.
It would certainly increase the chances of me having to watching it the following day online.

I also think that 8 is a better time because then familys can watch it together. 9 would be pushing it on a school night if the kids have to take baths or something before bedtime.

The problem is that 8th has sooo many well established shows! Ugly Betty is ABC on Thursday, and I think it’s be a really bad idea for PD to try to compete with House on Tuesdays.

What about Monday at 8? That could work……

  47. Oliviaon 16 Oct 2008 at 6:22 pm

That part was so hilarious, I didn’t know what to do with myself, i almost fell off my bunk bed :P (I’m in college, not a 6 year old)
We should set up a chat room so that its easier to talk about the episodes after they air. Because I keep leaving comments on here and I look like a loser..
And as a side note, I don’t think the next episode is in jeopardy just because they didn’t show the promo, they’re just trying to promote Life on Mars because it didn’t air this week, they don’t want people to forget about it. But I do think abc should play more regular promo for PD

  48. Katieon 16 Oct 2008 at 8:20 pm

I don’t think Monday would work well either rockerbaby. It’d have to compete with Heroes, and though I am campaigning furiously to get my friends to watch PD, if it’s on the same time as Heroes that’ll be the end of that.

I also like the chat room idea. The comments thing is getting kind of annyoing.

  49. **A**on 16 Oct 2008 at 8:39 pm

    That was AWESOM!

  50. KellyHon 16 Oct 2008 at 9:09 pm

Fuller worked on Heroes in the first season. He wouldn’t like to go against it.

  51. KellyHon 16 Oct 2008 at 9:11 pm

Monday is DWTS and Samantha Who. There’s no room there for anything. It’s ABC’s strongest night, they’re not messing with it. Sunday at 8 is what I’d try. Swap PD with Extreme Makeover Home Edition, whose viewers will follow it anywhere. Its parent, the defunct Extreme Makeover Human Edition, used to air Wednesdays at 8.

  52. Kimberon 16 Oct 2008 at 10:13 pm

Yeah, Friday is generally the “death slot” night. It’s where shows go to die, so we definitely don’t want PD going over there. Mondays at 8 (or 9 I guess for most people…) would be okay, but not at 7/8 because it interferes with Chuck, and that would just be wrong. For the record PD airs at 7 pm here in my time zone (Central), and that’s super early to watch TV. I think it would have a better chance being at least an hour later.

Sunday nights wouldn’t be half bad, either. And maybe pairing it up with another more popular ABC show would help out too.

  53. Katieon 16 Oct 2008 at 11:15 pm

You know..I just had a thought. Why are we wasting our time trying to move it? Think about it:

    Monday is Heroes and DWTS.
Tuesday is House, Greek, and Fringe.
Wednesday is Bones and Knight Rider, and that’s pretty much it.
    Friday is a death sentence.
And weekends are kinda of a weird spot to put all new prime time shows. Most people go out and do stuff on the weekends. Not to mention some people have to work.

Sure Thursdays might work..but ABC has a pretty good Thursday lineup with Ugly Betty and a few other shows. I doubt they’d move it.

And come to think of it, isn’t moving the time slot a death sentence in itself? If they have to move the time slot, that means the shows on it’s last limbs, which is NOT good, AT ALL.

So why are we wasting our time packing boxes when we could stay right here, refinance, and hope to God we can get a better interest rate (lol housing market analogy)? Let’s rally the fans! Buy 10-packs of the first season and give them to our friends, make more fanvids, do more fan projects. Hell, just buying the episodes off Itunes every week would probably send a strong message.

Sorry if that’s all been said before, just needed to get it out of my system xD

  54. Digbyon 17 Oct 2008 at 12:17 am

Brilliant episode! I can’t even list everything I loved — it was all funny, sweet, witty, entertaining. Wish my ex-boyfriend would have said something half as great as Ned’s speech to Olive after he walked away from us.

Hooray for the best show on TV!

  55. KellyHon 17 Oct 2008 at 8:37 am

I would be in favor of a one-off time slot experiment. Put it on after the DWTS performance show or results show at least once. See how it fares Sunday at 8:00. Experimentation can’t hurt.

But I want to get away from ratings worry and speculate on something that’s been much discussed–how and when Chuck can die. Here are my theories, and I think they’ve been substantiated both from statements by Team Fuller and by the evidence on the screen.

    1. Chuck can obviously be injured, and she can clearly die of trauma or an accident.

    2. Digby is evidence that Chuck CANNOT die of disease or old age. It is very likely that she cannot age.

    3. If Chuck were to die a second time by some means other than a second touch from Ned, he would probably be able to bring her back again, but somebody else would have to die.

    4. I believe that Ned was wrong about Chuck not being able to give back her life for Lawrence Schatz. Young Ned was not shown experimenting with bringing back things that died as a result of his bringing something else back longer than a minute. My guess is that Chuck would have died in Schatz’s place had he stayed alive over a minute (and let’s ignore that the sequence of his questioning, being stuck in the coffin, etc., lasted WAY more than 60 seconds in real time–I believe that for the sake of storytelling, the frame should have been made at least two minutes, but that’s another story). Anyway, I believe it will be revealed that Ned could have brought back Chuck’s father long ago with no consequence, as his mother already paid the price. Her resurrection caused his death. When she touched Ned again and died again, it negated this balance, so Chuck’s dad could have been brought back without anyone else dying. I believe that when this DOES happen later in the show, there will be no evidence of anybody dying on behalf of the resurrected Charles Charles. This will, of course, open a huge rift between Ned and Chuck.

    Any thoughts?

  56. Oliviaon 17 Oct 2008 at 1:03 pm

Hey everyone I set up a chat box on my blog, it will make it easier to have these discussions. I hope you’ll check it out, we’ll need all the people we can get!

  57. miaon 17 Oct 2008 at 1:34 pm

    well Kelly.

    4. Ned stated something in ep3 this season about not letting digby play intraffic. chuch can die but I dont think that another touch frmo Ned would bring her back.
that would be too many caveats in his gift. He was trying to tell chuck she had to be very careful with her 2nd chance cuz 3rd & 4th probably dont exist.

I DO NOT want ned & chuck cancelled but I think repeating ep [at least] on another night might help garner new viewers.
I think sunday nights might be good.
most people are home on sunday nights & a later 9pm EST is better cuz by the time in plays CA its only 5pm.
    and…
Olivia whats the link to your blog-I wanna play :-)

  58. KellyHon 17 Oct 2008 at 2:30 pm

I’m not sure Mia. He’s probably concerned about the fact that if she died again by some other means, he couldn’t bring her back without killing somebody else. I’m guessing he CAN bring a resurrected thing back to life it it dies from a cause other than his touch.

  60. KellyHon 17 Oct 2008 at 4:59 pm

I really don’t want to be the bearer of bad news, but…

I just read something that is very troubling and for me is proof that ABC has already given up.

Apparently, the last promo ABC aired for Pushing Daisies was the “next time on” after episode 2. That was the ONLY promo they aired for “Bad Habits.” Even that was taken away this past Wednesday. No promo for “Frescorts” has aired at all. There is no promo available anywhere on web video. A promo may have never been produced. Daisies will be flying on Wednesday with no network promotion whatsoever. ABC has decided not to spend any time or energy on it. Its decision has been made. Extremely depressing indeed, but the facts are those.

The only thing we can hope for now is that ABC execs will find it in their hearts to air the 13 episodes they ordered, even with no promotion. Hope for a back nine is beyond a pipe dream. Any campaign of letter writing, etc. to ABC should be directed at pleading with them to air all 13 episodes of the order. Ask for the reasonable thing. There will not be a back nine, and if ABC is flooded with pies, they may be so annoyed that they won’t even air the 13.

Any hope beyond that is false. Maybe I’ll be banned from the site for this, but it’s time to face reality and hope for what we may be able to get, and that’s an airing of the 13 ordered episodes. Perhaps Fuller will retool the last one as a finale. That’s all we can hope for. Please don’t say things like “don’t lose hope.” All fans need to face reality and not become like the Moonlight fans were a year ago. Maybe Fuller will go back to Heroes and improve that show again.

I’m so sorry to say this, I can’t even express my grief. But acceptance is one of the stages of grief. It’s time for everyone else, including Matt Roush (who handed out some false hope in his Ask Matt column today) to move past the denial stage. It’s much healthier.

Of course they may have not produced a promo because they spent a HUGE portion of thier advertising buget promothing that one new cop…show…thingy.

HOWEVER, assuming Kelly is right..what keeps shows on the air?

Ratings, of course, but an extreamly dedicated and loving fanbase can do anything. There are two examples of fan obsession bringing back TV shows. Firefly and Family Guy.

Firefly is the best example, IMO, because even though it never returned to the air, it’s fanbase did something no other TV show fanbase did. Rallied and REFUSED to give up. And they were rewarded. Serenity, a movie based on the show, was produced and filmed, and though the fans may never get thier beloved show back, at least they accomplished something great.

Then there’s Family Guy, which proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that ratings aren’t the only thing that influences executives. Family Guy was cancelled, as I’m sure many of you know. Then Seth and FOX decided to released DVDs of the first 3 seasons.

They sold like hotcakes. Recorded breaking sales, if I’m right. In fact, they sold SO MANY copies that FOX couldn’t ignore how well the show was making money. Even when off the air. And viola! New seasons aired, and the show is still thriving again.

And it’s all thanks to the fanbase. Which brings me back to what I said in an earlier post:

RALLY THE FANS. Send fan mail about your love of the show, buy the DVD and episodes off Itunes, watch every wednesday without fail. Be didcated. I for one am not giving up just yet.

Pushing Daisies is one of the few things in my life right now that’s stable. It’s something I can rely on to make me smile and forget my troubles and stresses for an hour a week. So c’mon guys. Let’s get crakin. We are the Pie Makers, and we have the power.

  62. KellyHon 17 Oct 2008 at 10:06 pm

OK, I’m going to be a little less doom and gloom. Thanks for not jumping on me, guys. I think that there might be a way to look at this rationally and take a reasoned approach. There are a couple of variables here.

As of right now, ABC has given up. The earliest that might change will be Monday, when the DVR +7 numbers for the premiere come out. We have to hope and pray that those are very large. If they are encouraging, ABC may decide to air promos again. I don’t expect to see any on Sunday during Desperate Housewives and Brothers and Sisters, but if the +7 numbers are impressive, we might get some during DWTS. So first, let’s hope that it was heavily DVR’d.

Second, the DVD sales are likely not a factor, as they are already very high.

The only way to save the show is for the ratings to increase dramatically in the demo, and right now, ABC has chosen not to help out with that. Sending pies won’t help. Getting people to watch will. A pie-sending campaign before an official cancellation would be the wrong move.

And ABC is not going to announce a cancellation. I believe that they fully intend to air the 13 episodes. They spent too much money on them not to air them, and they may want to air them to throw out some more Emmy bait.

The Family Guy is not a comparable example. As an animated show, it was easier to bring it back into production. If cancellation comes, the cast and crew will look for other gigs, etc.

Jericho is the bad side of the example. CBS capitulated on that one and brought it back–and it tanked, ruining any hope for Moonlight fans. No way was CBS going to do that again.

The only hope is to increase ratings before cancellation, and I don’t think ABC is going to be honest about their intentions until after they air the 13. But it will be abundantly clear when they don’t order the back 9. ABC for now isn’t going to help.

October 29 is crucial. The Obama campaign is trying to get ABC to participate in the Obama-fest that he’s paying for on NBC and CBS. ABC is resisting, for now. If they successfully resist Obama’s dollars, then Pushing Daisies will air against Obama-fest. If the World Series goes to six games, FOX will not be airing Bones. That means that Pushing Daisies would be the ONLY scripted show on at that hour. If those circumstances all come to pass, the ratings will have to be a BIG improvement. Right now, that’s the best hope to show something to ABC. If this happens, you’re all going to have to convince your Obama-supporting friends NOT to watch his thing and to watch PD instead. If you have McCain-supporting friends, they might be VERY willing to take attention away from Obama-fest.

So let’s keep our eyes on the 29th and hope that ABC continues to resist the Obama camp’s overtures.

I hate to give up hope. I really do. But when a network pulls the promos…there’s no worse sign than that.

  63. Katieon 17 Oct 2008 at 10:38 pm

I was just using FG as an example of fan based power.

ANYWAY, I have another thought. WHY are we dwelling on this? As Kelly’s mentioned, we can’t really be sure how things will turn out until the 29th, so even though there are hints of doubt, why waste our time dwelling on them?

We could be making the best of the time we have left. Doing fanvids, supporting our show, getting the word out, etc.

We at least gotta try to think positive. Hopefully ABC’ll get a clue and realize that this show’s to good to pull. I mean, critics reviews of the episodes are still fantastic. I dunno..I’m rambling. Guess I’m out of inspirational statements for the day.

I do have one thing I’d like to mention though. If any of you Pie Makers have a Deviantart account, I made you a stamp:

    Enjoy it.

Good News !!!!!!! I just read on Entertainment Weekly’s website that Bryan Fuller has said that David Arquette would be re-appearing as Olive’s love interest later on in the season on PD!!!! I looked on ABC’s website last night and they still have up that PD is on on WED. at 8 and that the next episode is indeed “Frescorts”. PD also had a 500,000 viewer INCREASE from the previous week.

Don’t bury this show just yet!!

  65. KellyHon 18 Oct 2008 at 10:32 am

The good sign to look out four will be if ABC starts airing promos again…

And if they stick to their guns in not selling airtime to Obama (which NBC and CBS…but not FOX, which could be airing a World Series game…have already done).

The best case scenario is for ABC to hold to not selling the time to Obama, the Series to go six games (so that FOX won’t be airing Bones), and for PD to be the only scripted show in that half-hour. CBS is airing Old Christine in the second half-hour, so a viewer decline in the half-hour is a dangerous possibility (the Obama message is only supposed to be 30 minutes). And the numbers that night must be MUCH larger than they have been for ABC to consider doing anything else.

Oct. 29 is the key, guys. It’s time to start pushing it NOW.

As for ABC’s website—I fully expect them to air the 13 ordered episodes, with or without promotion, in any case.

Sarah Connor Chronicles got picked up. Perhaps there is still a glimmer of hope, but as long as ABC is not airing any promos, I’m going to remain somewhat gloomy.

  66. Joshon 18 Oct 2008 at 8:24 pm

    Hey you guys.
Just wanted to tell everyone that promos like that literally take like twenty minutes to make. There is nothing to lose in making them on the companies’ part. I know this can be discounted as denial, but I only rack this promoless episode due to an oversight or an outright cut due to time constraints and preparation for the debate that was aired immediately after Pushing Daisies, not because of ratings.

Also, just so everyone knows, this isn’t the only new, or old for that matter, show that is having ratings problems. The NBC show Chuck has practically had the same ratings as Pushing Daisies and NBC is sticking to its 22 episode order. Also, Heroes had a record low debut as well.

This writers strike messed up shows and their publicity, and the companies know that. I’m sure ABC will give Pushing Daisies more than three episodes to regain their audience before giving up, especially for a show like this!

  67. abbykateon 19 Oct 2008 at 10:45 am

Wow. Lots to read on this thread!!

I think, very sincerely, that this was the best episode of Pushing Daisies that has aired so far. Everyone had cards to play and the two characters with the most to say; Chuck and Olive, in my opinion; SAID IT. I absolutely love that they didn’t just let Ned off the hook. Olive especially.

As for the ratings mess…I’m in a holding pattern. I’m recruiting everyone I can, and trying to stay a little bit positive despite some reports.

  68. miaon 20 Oct 2008 at 1:24 pm

I choose to stay positive. Even if they decide later to not renew this show Im sure they will air the final eps for this season as they have already been shot + they have 2 emmys to flaunt from last season.
    Those are big pluses.
The election/debates/news are causing alot of disruption in scheduling and viewership so I dont any networks are goign to make any decisions until Jan at least.
At that point there will be other reg. season shows returning & again disrupting the scheduling.
Its much too early to call the demise of PD since…

what the heck would ABC replace it with?!?!

I have promotion about PD on my facebook page+group so if you belong to any social network groups promote on there!

good job on the deviantart stamp there katie.

  69. Digbyon 20 Oct 2008 at 1:36 pm

Josh, thanks for the insider perspective on the networks. This thread was getting pretty depressing. This show is supposed to make us feel GOOD, people! Chill with the ratings gloom, please.

  70. KellyHon 20 Oct 2008 at 11:15 pm

It’s hard to avoid gloom and doom when ABC isn’t even throwing us a bone. During Desperate Housewives, Brothers and Sisters, Dancing with the Stars, and Samantha Who?, ABC showed promos for almost EVERY one of its other shows–except PD. The showed promos for Dirty Sexy Money that said “after an all-new Private Practice.” They showed promos for “Private Practice” that said “followed by an all-new Dirty Sexy Money.” No mention of PD. How are we supposed to read that, exactly? Nobody has seen ANY scenes from the upcoming episode in any form whatsoever.

thepiemaker.com - Maybe you guys could make a post on the main page about saving the show? Please post the petition link there and tell everyone to sign. We NEED to save PD!!

  72. Timon 21 Oct 2008 at 6:00 pm

I tend to agree with others on this site that Sunday nights at 8 PM would be a great slot for Pushing Daisies. I don’t really watch TV on Sundays, but, from looking at the 8 PM TV schedule, I can see a great place for PD to settle. The rest of the shows during that 8 PM hour are not necessarily stalwarts that PD would have a hard time competing with.

I really think ABC needs to promote the crap out this show, and failing that, promote the crap out of it and move it to Sundays at 8 PM before the network even considers canceling it. I don’t mind ABC canceling the show if they tried everything to keep it alive, but I would be real pissed if they just stood back and did nothing (which is kind of what they are doing right now).

  73. miaon 21 Oct 2008 at 10:29 pm

well your right about ABC not promoting the show enough. I mean I was saying that before the season started but i also wonder if its very regional.
I mean they promoted the heck out of it in NYC [it was on the side of buses, on billboards, etc.]
then they had the pie bus that went around but it didnt come to the SE at all.
They dont have many season replacements in the works though [also cuz of writers strike] so at least this season I would say is safe. by next spring whos what will be on or off.
Hopefully some of the guest stars that they are having on will also help promote the show to the right people.

I just prefer to be positive & not worry but that doesnt mean I wont help get the word out at the the same time.
