well your right about ABC not promoting the show enough. I mean I was saying that before the season started but i also wonder if its very regional.
I mean they promoted the heck out of it in NYC [it was on the side of buses, on billboards, etc.]
then they had the pie bus that went around but it didnt come to the SE at all.
They dont have many season replacements in the works though [also cuz of writers strike] so at least this season I would say is safe. by next spring whos what will be on or off.
Hopefully some of the guest stars that they are having on will also help promote the show to the right people.

I just prefer to be positive & not worry but that doesnt mean I wont help get the word out at the the same time.

I tend to agree with others on this site that Sunday nights at 8 PM would be a great slot for Pushing Daisies. I don't really watch TV on Sundays, but, from looking at the 8 PM TV schedule, I can see a great place for PD to settle. The rest of the shows during that 8 PM hour are not necessarily stalwarts that PD would have a hard time competing with.

I really think ABC needs to promote the crap out this show, and failing that, promote the crap out of it and move it to Sundays at 8 PM before the network even considers canceling it. I don't mind ABC canceling the show if they tried everything to keep it alive, but I would be real pissed if they just stood back and did nothing (which is kind of what they are doing right now).

It's hard to avoid gloom and doom when ABC isn't even throwing us a bone. During Desperate Housewives, Brothers and Sisters, Dancing with the Stars, and Samantha Who?, ABC showed promos for almost EVERY one of its other shows--except PD. The showed promos for Dirty Sexy Money that said "after an all-new Private Practice." They showed promos for "Private Practice" that said "followed by an all-new Dirty Sexy Money." No mention of PD. How are we supposed to read that, exactly? Nobody has seen ANY scenes from the upcoming episode in any form whatsoever.

Josh, thanks for the insider perspective on the networks. This thread was getting pretty depressing. This show is supposed to make us feel GOOD, people! Chill with the ratings gloom, please.

I choose to stay positive. Even if they decide later to not renew this show Im sure they will air the final eps for this season as they have already been shot + they have 2 emmys to flaunt from last season.
Those are big pluses.
The election/debates/news are causing alot of disruption in scheduling and viewership so I dont any networks are goign to make any decisions until Jan at least.
At that point there will be other reg. season shows returning & again disrupting the scheduling.
Its much too early to call the demise of PD since...

what the heck would ABC replace it with?!?!

I have promotion about PD on my facebook page+group so if you belong to any social network groups promote on there!

good job on the deviantart stamp there katie.

Wow. Lots to read on this thread!!

I think, very sincerely, that this was the best episode of Pushing Daisies that has aired so far. Everyone had cards to play and the two characters with the most to say; Chuck and Olive, in my opinion; SAID IT. I absolutely love that they didn't just let Ned off the hook. Olive especially.

As for the ratings mess...I'm in a holding pattern. I'm recruiting everyone I can, and trying to stay a little bit positive despite some reports.

Hey you guys.
Just wanted to tell everyone that promos like that literally take like twenty minutes to make. There is nothing to lose in making them on the companies' part. I know this can be discounted as denial, but I only rack this promoless episode due to an oversight or an outright cut due to time constraints and preparation for the debate that was aired immediately after Pushing Daisies, not because of ratings.

Also, just so everyone knows, this isn't the only new, or old for that matter, show that is having ratings problems. The NBC show Chuck has practically had the same ratings as Pushing Daisies and NBC is sticking to its 22 episode order. Also, Heroes had a record low debut as well.

This writers strike messed up shows and their publicity, and the companies know that. I'm sure ABC will give Pushing Daisies more than three episodes to regain their audience before giving up, especially for a show like this!
