Thanks for the link, KellyH! GREAT piece by Kristin — I love the idea of sending daisies or even daisy seeds to ABC.

FYI, there’s a spoiler video at the bottom of the post, and even the still image is a spoiler… don’t scroll down all the way if you don’t want to know the future. (I looked through my fingers - is that like shaking the presents under the tree, perhaps peeking into the wrapping paper ever so slightly?)

All right guy’s, I have been hitting the USAtoday blog today trying to seriously promote the show tonight. Any article about the obama infomercial , I am going on and basically telling the Obama people to DVR it , “Please” and the McCain camp to watch PD to spite the Obama people. God , this is fun. I so do hope that the show pulls some good numbers tonight.

  17. Maseon 29 Oct 2008 at 6:32 pm

Thank you Kristin from E!. You rock and have been a huge supporter of the show from day one AND one of it’s best extra’s. Thank you , from all the PD fans!!

  18. Digbyon 29 Oct 2008 at 6:46 pm

Piemakers (as in those who organize this site), could you please provide us with the contact info for the ABC producers of PD? If you know, that is. I’m sure I’m not the only one who would write a love letter for PD and send it if the address were readily available. I’m not lazy, just web ignorant. Signing a petition is great, but I’d like to do something like Kristin suggested - send seeds. Or a pie recipe. Or pictures of anyone dressed up as a PD character this year for Halloween…

    Thanks!

  19. Anastasiaon 29 Oct 2008 at 7:07 pm

YAY!!!!!!!!! Because if they aired that commerical or anyone watches it instead, should go to h e double hockey sticks. :)

  20. Katieon 29 Oct 2008 at 8:16 pm

My lord. I just signed the petition (as signature 11,158) and literally I refreshed the page seconds later and there were 2 new signatures xD

Come on Pie Makers! We can do it, yes we can!!!

  21. Anastasiaon 29 Oct 2008 at 9:07 pm

This episode was awesome. Especially the ending, minus dwight in the car…. But that hug from ned’s half brothers! SO ADORABLE. it made me cry. THIS SHOW IS AMAZING. :)

  22. Shardithon 29 Oct 2008 at 9:16 pm

Okay, I cried a little at the very ending to this episode. Long lost family will do that….especially considering how cute and sweet the twins are.

  23. Luisaon 29 Oct 2008 at 9:29 pm

Ned with a Texas cowboy drawl? Absolutely adorable.

    Simone rocks! Click-click.

  24. Allyon 29 Oct 2008 at 10:20 pm

Tonight’s episode was sooooo good. I loved Ned’s reactions to his half-brother’s names “Maurice and Ralston!?!?” haha. And he looked hilarious in that cowboy get-up.

Let’s PRAY the ratings went up!!!!!

  25. Mia C.on 29 Oct 2008 at 11:06 pm

I was only able to watch the first half, as I live in a Philadelphia suburb, and it’s World Series madness at the moment. What I saw I really liked, I think it’s probably my favorite this season outside of the first ep. And Ned’s brothers are pretty cute, barring their obvious obsession with magic.

Since Obama’s ad was EVERYWHERE, even on the Spanish channel (!), and this episode showcased some of the best aspects of PD, I’m sure we picked up quite a lot of viewers waiting for the World Series, or just avoiding the politics. I’m hoping some will remember its greatness and come back next week. The ad bored me even in the 20 seconds I had it on during the first commercial break, so I’m sure plenty of people were trying to get away from that.

On a totally unrelated note… PHILLIES ARE THE CHAMPIONS!!!! WOO!!!

  26. Katieon 30 Oct 2008 at 12:23 am

Ok, that was the best episode of the season, BY FAR. And to think I didn’t think I was going to like this one xD

    Maurice and Ralston…

  27. Timon 30 Oct 2008 at 1:30 am

That was another great episode. I really think that the show is in a great groove right now. It seems as if the writers have been doing a great job lately of balancing the character development (and subplots) to go along with each episodes murder mystery. It seemed that last season, at times, the episodes would be tilted one way or the other (not that they weren’t great).

I have been posting Youtube video’s on my Facebook of PD clips and promos to try and grab peoples attention. Hopefully it has worked, even if just a little.

  28. Hollyon 30 Oct 2008 at 1:39 am

This was probably my favorite episode and it didn’t even have very much Chuck/Ned love. Lawrence Trilling, Davey Holmes, and of course, Bryan Fuller are geniuses!!! Absolute brilliance.

  29. Kateon 30 Oct 2008 at 1:43 am

I really have hope for this show. As another commenter pointed out, the petition is going amazingly well. I searched for a Save Eli Stone petition and it only has a little over 2000 signatures. The PD petition has over 12000 (and by the time you read this, it will probably have even more)!!!! I’ve watched the number of signatures go up all day and it’s gone up at least 1000 since this afternoon. Cmon that’s got to mean something!!! We can save this show.
    Loved the episode tonight!!!

  30. Digbyon 30 Oct 2008 at 2:38 am

I’m late in commenting because I had to watch Obama’s programming, then a recording of Sherman Alexie on Colbert from last night… so much to watch, so little time.

Woohoo for Emerson and Simone, working it out! I loved his line about showing her his cards since she showed hers. It’s SO nice to get to know Emerson more this season. The only thing I didn’t really love was his overacting at the poker game — hilarious disguises, but I wonder if they filmed Chi’s lines quickly and he didn’t have enough time to get the feel of the scene. It was too forced.
Not my favorite this season, but still good. Ned and Chuck teasing Emerson about “more than talking” with Simone was hysterical. Props to the special effects team - the rice pouring from the busboy’s chest pipe was a great gag. (C’mon, it’s Halloween!)

  31. KellyHon 30 Oct 2008 at 4:17 pm

I don’t know what to make of the ratings, guys. On one hand, the show did lose to all three networks carrying the Obama show, but FOX did have the World Series coming up and CBS didn’t really gain when Old Christine came on.

On the other hand, it was a season high both in total viewers and in the demo. (The overall rating was slightly less than Bad Habits, but total viewership and the demo rating were higher.) What will ABC make of this?

The problem is that the next episode isn’t on for another three weeks (assuming ABC sticks to the plan) and the network will have to order the back 9 (if it’s giong to do that) well before the airing of that next episode.

At this point, I’m hoping for the best, but also hoping that Fuller & Co. wrote episode 13 as a potential season/series finale–just in case the worst happens.

  32. Oliviaon 30 Oct 2008 at 4:31 pm

I don’t think this episode was anywhere close to as good as Bad Habits, but it was ok. There weren’t really any good Ned/Chuck moments, and very little Olive jokes. And I also thought Chuck was extra annoying this episode. Sorry, but I was disappointed.

  33. Allyon 30 Oct 2008 at 5:38 pm

I didn’t know exactly where to post this, but they show went up a million viewers last night, and went up 16% in adults 18-49. Let’s hope the number of viewers keeps growing!

  34. Mia C.on 30 Oct 2008 at 7:38 pm

Did anyone else love Ned’s clue pad? It’s the first reference I’ve seen in any show to Blue’s Clues. And it just fits Ned. How adorable!

And Ned’s brothers are pretty cute, and it was just wonderful to see him meet them.

There’s only one thing I’m disappointed about… we have to wait 3 weeks for a new one. My birthday happens to be next Wednesday, and I was really looking foward to a new PD on my bday. How ironic that PD got kicked for a special Dancing with the Stars, when I despise “reality” shows like that. I’ll just have to hope that I get season 1 as a gift, and I can watch an episode from there.

  35. KellyHon 30 Oct 2008 at 7:49 pm

Why isn’t ABC showing the “Previously On” segments?? They are on the online episodes. Little things like this are depressing because they are indicators that ABC is burning off the episodes, has no intention of nurturing the show or trying to get new viewers. You won’t see a “Grey’s Anatomy” or “Desperate Housewives” without the “Previously On” segments.

Every time I want to have faith, ABC pulls some manouvre that destroys it.

  36. Christianon 30 Oct 2008 at 10:16 pm

I thought this was a great episode. When Emerson and Ned came in with the disguises I nearly lost it! This was a very funny episode. Did PD go political when they were telling who’s who at the table and the said John the Plumber? Maybe I’m looking too far into it. Anywho, let’s all pray that PD stays on, it’s too good of a show to die a early death.

  37. Lindsayon 30 Oct 2008 at 11:36 pm

Wait huh? where was the Blue’s Clues pad?

Anyways, tonight’s episode was AWESOME! I’ll have to watch it again because I couldn’t hear some of the lines because my mom was cleaning the kitchen and the dishwasher was on too.

  38. Digbyon 31 Oct 2008 at 3:44 am

Forgot to ask in my earlier comment if anyone enjoyed seeing Ned in COLORFUL clothing this time? Check him out, wearing a red shirt of all things while playing poker… such a wild one, that piemaker. Took me a while to even notice that he wasn’t all grey and black as usual.

    Three weeks?! (choking, gasp)

  39. KellyHon 31 Oct 2008 at 9:24 am

I particularly enjoyed the embossed horseshoes on the very LOUD shirt. He must have gotten the shirt from Olive. :-)

  40. Beccaon 01 Nov 2008 at 3:18 pm

wow half brothers… awesome. and the fact that their eyebrows give them away is adorable!
    sigh. i love this show.

  41. Stephon 02 Nov 2008 at 12:56 pm

My second episode to watch live on TV. (as opposed to watching all season 1 on DVD.. last week!)
This episode was awsome. Just to see Lee dressed as a moustached cowboy it was worth it! Haha so funny.

    Can’t wait ’til next episode!
