this is the one they talked about on inFANity! =]
it’s a cookoff and the pie hole is entered! haha.
olive had an interesting hat. hahahaha! a GIANT PIE
From some article I read there might be some weird “sex scene” with Ned and Chuck. I got it from E! I believe. WARNING WARNING POSSIBLE SPOILER.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Did Someone Say “Sex Toy”? As season two begins, Ned and Chuck continue to struggle with their impossible love. (Refresher: If he touches her, she’ll be dead for good.) Still, Bryan Fuller insisted, “They are meant to be together, that’s the relationship to root for. And we’re implying that things are progressing with their intimacy. There’s bedtime contraptions; there’s some bedtime, classic sexy—I think episode eight is when you see the device.” Um, device? I thought he was kidding, but no, Chuck and Ned are getting down, and you’ll be amused at how. (from E! Online.)
This is the episode that Bryan claims will have a “Wonderfalls” crossover…now I’m REALLY intrigued!
this is incredible!!! ned! and chuck! finally together!!! I really hope they someday will be able to really really touch!
Not gonna lie: kind of excited for some Ned/Chuck lovin. Those two really need it!
I’m excited for this episode, It’s supposed to have a Wonderfalls crossover - http://www.ifmagazine.com/feature.asp?article=3042
iF: Now you had WONDERFALLS on Fox for a short period of time before it got abruptly cancelled, but you gained PUSHING DAISIES. It must be a bit of a bittersweet feeling.
FULLER: Very bittersweet because I loved [WONDERFALLS] and the cast. So much so, that I had to do a WONDERFALLS crossover in this season of PUSHING DAISIES. That happens in episode eight of the second season and I’m really excited about it.
The “device” used is a plastic sheet. Swoosie Kurtz said a plastic sheet is used in the pie-cast. She describes it as “hot”. Hahaha should be intresting.
I cannot wait for that! This is the best show on tv
hmm a plastic sheet? Thats kinda funny cause if you go on Fanfiction, in stories rated “M” there is a story called “Curtain” which has Ned and Chuck, getting their groove on (if you cath my drift ;P) by useing a plastic shower curtain. Could the writers have read that? Who knows??
But yah i agree with Ally there, i want to see alittle Ned/Chuck lovin myself!
Not only will there be a Ned and Chuck “sex toy” original in this episode, this is the episode in which Ned bringing Charles Charles back to life!!!!
We finally know why to! I am looking so forward to this episode you have know idea! I’m going to tape the next episode and watch it over and over unitl i know every line off by heart!
Speaking of knowing every line by heart I bought the Pie-Lette script signed by Lee Pace Anna Friel Swoosie Kurtz Ellen Greene and Kristin Chenoweth. Its super cool!!!!
Yea this episode should be GREAT! I hope it attracts a lot of viewers so Daisies wont be gone for good. (it is cancelled but it isnt FINISHED because of everything they want to do with it like the movie and the comic)
I am SO excited for this! It just sounds like it would be the best episode this season. I’m just sad that it brings us one step closer to the end…
Liv, your making me sad here! This really does look like an amazing episode, and hopefully it continues the trend of the episodes geting better and better. Why does aBC have to be so stupid and cancel all the good shows? Enough private practice already, bring back daisies!
Jess I agree 100%. There are all those stupid shows that are all about cheating and hate and shows that are just horrible and Pushing Daisies is the one to get cancelled? It’s just wrong.
I watched this last night, (it airs 2wice in canada on tues and wed) and there’s no sex scene with a plastic sheet, its an amazing episode (probably my fave so far) & OLIVE SINGS!!!
the costumes are really cute (especially kristin’s pie hat and her outfit.)
I can’t wait!! I’m a recent Wonderfalls fan, so I’m super excited to see the “crossover” (or inclusion of Marianne Marie Beetle, as I’ve seen in the preview). And Charles Charles! OMG!
I hate you California people, you get to watch it before me!!!!
That episode was nearly perfect — sooo amazing!
How can this show get better every episode this season?
Amazing episode!! I loved the addition of Marianne Marie Beetle, but I was so mad when I thought she was the killer!! I’m sad Fat Pat didn’t show up, but maybe he stayed back at the trailer park, or the home base? Olive’s version of “Eternal Flame” was fantastic! And the bed contraption? Adorable
SPOILERS BELOW!
Am I the only one who found it ironic the guy was the killer because he was fat? Ha! Marianne should’ve just given him some of the muffins!
I really liked this episode, though. Started off a little bit slow, but it was still amazing. I can’t believe there are only five episodes left…
Swoosie Kurtz was very right they DID use a plastic sheet type device in bed. Not to have sex but to hold eachother.
Wonderful episode. I know people have said the earlier episodes this season weren’t as good, and I have to agree, as this far surpassed it. I don’t mind the weekly murder cases as long as they a) have a good twist and b) they continue to explore other cliffhanger plots at the same time. They’ve definitely done that. Let’s hope that episodes like this will draw viewers and bring in some good ratings.
I completely freaked out when I saw the “contraption”. I’m going to have to YouTube that one in a few days, since ABC’s player won’t run on my computer. My brother and I laughed hysterically at random things, even things that probably weren’t meant to be funny. I think one of the best was when Ned pulled the spatula out of the oven, tasted it, and said, “It’s the Waffle Nazi!” and he and Olive glared simultaneously at the waffle place. I think that was meant to be a reference to the Soup Nazi of Seinfeld fame. If it wasn’t, I’m making references where there probably weren’t any.
All in all, an excellent break from my pile of work. Let’s hope it gets the ratings it deserves.
I have no doubt that the “Waffle Nazi” was a reference to the infamous “Soup Nazi” of Seinfeld fame.
Colonel Likkin tasting himself before being re-deaded….that was the major EWWWW moment in this episode!!
I’m also sad that with each passing episode, plot twist, and arched eyebrow this wonderful show is winding to a definite close.
i love Lily’s one eyed sunglasses xDD
Every time I watch Pushing Daisies it completely warms my heart; add Christen singing and I just melt. Talk about comfort food, Pushing Daisies is comfort food for the soul. My heart breaks to think that we are getting closer to the end. I know just how Ned and Chuck feel, the thing they love so much they can’t have.
Why do all the intelligent shows get canceled and shows like “Wife Swap” and “The Bachelor” go on forever? I am so tired of reality TV; I live reality everyday what’s so wrong with some fantasy for a change?
I think this season is fantastic and this episode was the best so far. It was cool to see the outfit that Christen was wearing from this episode back on Ellen a while back and to hear about this episode on the Pie-cast. Also in regard to the “plastic curtain” personally, I didn’t find it kinky. Seeing Ned with his arm around Chuck while he slept was so beautiful.
I love Pushing Daisies, there has to be a way to save the show.
Why is no one mentioning the biggest thing? What happened with Chuck’s dad? For some reason i feel like Charles Charles isn’t in his grave either. Not saying he’s alive obviously, but just a hunch.
Andre, we shouldn’t mourn pushing daisies just yet. So many things can happen to save the show. But whatever happens, Daisies isn’t ending anytime soon. That’s for sure.
This episode was AMAZING!!! Marianne Marie turned into such an evil woman though, but that was still so cool to see the Wonderfalls crossover.
I love this show so so so much, there is just nothing like it!
I totally freaked out when I saw the bed “contraption” it was just so sweet. I later watched and re watched it.
I loved Olive’s “Eternal Flame” it was amazing.
Something tells me things are not going to be good for Ned and Chuck. And that makes me sad
This was a completely awesome episode!!!!!!
Aw that was a great episode. Marianne Marie! The Waffle Nazi! Charles Charles! Kristin singing! The pie hats!
And Kimber, I was waiting for Fat Pat to show up too!
Thanks Santi. All I know for sure is that I will own the DVDs of the entire series so I can watch it any time I want. This series means as much to me as my Buffy and Six Feet Under.
I have to agree this was by far the best ep this season!
Ned looked so cute in his Pi-Ho outfit!
Im SO SAD that the show only last 13eps
this is the BEST show and Im loving the plot direction!
Will vivian find out about lily? what will we discover about lily & charles charles?!?! will Olive continue to love the pie maker? esp if she finds out about his gift? how will Ned feel about what chuck did??
I love emersons line about - dont peck me woman cuz thats a cahooots peck!
Also I have never encountered a show that makes me sad, happy, and interested all in one episode.
Also, I agree I was totally waiting for Fat Pat to show up. I wonder what he is up to…
That’s my favorite PD episode to date. It had EVERYTHING. Wonderfalls hat-off-to, crazy misplaced innuendos, hour-long analogies, and of course, Olive’s Eternal Flame. It fitted perfectly.
The only thing I hated were the countless commercials for Private Practice and Grey’s Anatomy. It’s like throwing salt to the wound. Thanks a lot, ABC.
I agree with Andre on the reality shows and the “competitions”. There are only so many seasons of American Idol and Dancing with the Stars that this universe can handle without imploding.
And as a teenager, I am so sick of shows that are only about spoiled teenagers in California or wherever and their everyday drama. High school’s more than enough drama, thank you, I don’t want to see that away from school.
I realized how far the aunts have progressed since we first met them. Lily is slightly less intoxicated than last season, or she’s at least taking her drinks with her in addition to the rifle and pie (note: is it still drug-infused? Normally Jim Dale mentions their homeopathic nature.) And Vivian’s gone from being all “planes fall out of the sky every day!” to being more hopeful. She really is a wonderful person.
I was just struck with an interesting possibility: if Lily finds out about Chuck, will she reunite with Charles as well? And if so, how would that play out? Would she love him even with a corpse face? I think so. She seems like she would.
I also love how so many current issues are touched upon in this show without being too obvious or preachy. I watched Dummy just last weekend, and that had the whole environmental thing going on, and this had obesity and the dangers of fast food. Also, how hypocritical it is that people get upset when they eat a Mega Whopper or something every day and gain weight.
Has anyone seen ads for PD on ABC or elsewhere? I don’t watch ABC apart from PD. I just want to know if it’s actually getting promoted, now that they’ve officially cancelled it.
This episode was AMAZING!
So many adorable quirks, the costumes were wonderful, kristin sang!
It seems like these just keep getting better…
You know, every week, PD manages to top itself. Absolutely amazing. Marianne Marie Beetle!! I squealed for like three minutes straight at the sight of Muffin Buffalo.
And I think they struck the balance perfectly between the case-of-the-week and all the emotional character stuff. I loved Chuck and Emerson working together, and Olive and Ned the same.
But I always feel so sorry for Olive. Oh, poor, poor Olive. I know how you feel!!
And I really hope Ned isn’t mad at Chuck for the whole keeping-dad-alive thing. I mean, the ending of the episode doesn’t bode well for them, but still. He did the same thing! They’re gonna be alright.
I can’t even fathom not having PD anymore. It’s not as easy to imagine because we’re still getting wonderful new episodes every week…but there are only five left. It can’t be the end. It just CAN’T.
Aaaaaagh I only saw half of this episode! I got home at 8:30 D:
Luckily I have the rest on tape (yet, i still use VHS tapes), so I will watch it in the morning
From what I saw, it was great. SPOILER ALERT
I totally called that it was the fat guy. I walked in, and after a few minutes I told me parents “Yeah I bet the fat guy did it.”
And I was right xD
I didn’t see the spooning machine though D:
I so badly want to….:(
Also, if anyone can get me an MP3 of Olive’s EF, that’d be just great xD
I hope a soundtrack does comes together. Bryan Fuller mentioned it as a possibility back at the Paley writers panel. It was great to see the Muffin Lady, too bad no Fat Pat.
With great episodes like this one and the Save Pushing Daisies petition being signed every day by it’s fans. Is there something we can do as fans to really-truly save this fabulous show??
Just look at the amount of people that have already signed up till now..
http://www.petitiononline.com/mod_perl/signed.cgi?daisies
XD
COMFORT FOOD WAS THE BEST AND CUTEST EPISODE EVER!!!
I think Olive an dNed should be TOGETHER FOREVER!!! haha
dang it Bryan Fuller!!! :p
Sweet Pie Goddess, this episode rocked. Thanks to the PD team for the Wonderfalls nod. Only Lee and Kristen could look adorable in those pie hats, but adorable they were.
“Finger lickin’ donut holes” - yes, Ned, that does sound filthy, and hysterical. Congrats to Ned and Olive for taking on the mystery of the week by themselves and for the blue ribbon which is almost as big as Olive.
So, Emerson hasn’t been knitting in a while. Guess this means he’s not stressed out? Any chance he’ll get a lead on his daughter’s whereabouts soon? (Love the cat yowl when he tosses the shovel aside after spotting Lily! Completely corny but classic.)
Smart cuddling “device” - yay for another sweet Ned/Chuck moment. All in all, a Perfect Daisies episode.
What is the title of the song Olive sang at the end of “comfort food”? and who sang it in the 80’s?
“Eternal Flame” by the Bangles
This was definitely one of my favorite episodes of the season so far. I kind of dread watching, only because I know it’s closer to the end.
I guess this is kind of spoiler-ish, but I keep reading that the ending will be extremely unsatisfying, which breaks my heart.
Someone’s already posted Olive’s version of “Eternal Flame” on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tee–4tlXVg (from the Canadian broadcast), but Ned’s interruptions are cut
Wow, this show just gets better and better. LOVED last night’s nights episode! This show gives me tingles when i watch it. It makes me sad though to think that there are only 5 episodes left. Damn you people at ABC why”d u have to cancel the best show on tv?
Last night’s episode was AWESOME!!!!
Did you catch Olive’s nod to an awesome television show of the past? Near the start when she made the reference to “Damn good pie”…. wasn’t that a catch phrase from TWIN PEAKS?
And her awesome tribute to Eva Gabor last week as well.
I had trouble concentrating on last night’s episode…. Olive’s outfit was so incredible… I could not stop staring at them… uh, I mean her…. her… I could not stop staring at her.
WHY can’t FOX pick up this show? Or even the SCI FI network?
Ok… so Pushing Daisies got screwed by the Socialist Union Scum writer’s strike… and the ratings never rebounded…. why can’t ABC give this show some time to find it’s audience? Do you realize MASH, SEINFELD and THE OFFICE would have been cancelled early on after a handful of episodes had the network not stepped in and let the shows go on so more people could find them?
ABC sucks…. they should have re-run the first 9 episodes over the summer, and didn’t….. but we got plenty of reality show filth, that is for sure!
Oh well….. KRISTIN… please marry me!
Love,
The Russian Assassin
One last thing….. I LOVE PUSHING DAISIES….. but have you noticed how hard it has been to watch the episodes this year? GOD BLESS ABC….. can we watch more than 4 minutes of show before we have to stop and watch 4+ minutes of commercials?
Did anyone put a stopwatch to last night’s show? There couldn’t have been more than maybe 35-40 minutes of actual show…. hell, a couple of times, I thought they were going to have to take a break from the commercials to show a little PUSHING DAISIES!!!!
No wonder the ratings are down….. how many folks start watching, and then flip the channel and never go back because the commercials are never ending?
It is to the point where it makes it difficult to watch and follow the story line.
Oh well… ABC and the sewer pipe in Hollywood know more than me
According to TV by the Numbers, PD had 4.91 million viewers, which is up from last week. Unfortunately CBS had Rudolph on last night as well, so that drew some viewers away. (yes, I know the ratings system is inaccurate, but that’s what the executive people seem to care about, so it’s good we’re going up!)
Yeah I agree with TRA because it did feel like there were 4 minutes of show and then 4 minutes of commercial. That was ah- noying.
ABC just totally sucks. I have never seen a commercial for Pushing Daisies, but I have seen at least 5 per day for private practice and grey’s anatomy.
As much as I love Grey’ Anatomy, it sucks this year, yet people still watch it. Pushing Daisies keeps getting better and it just cannot find its audience. That makes me sad
Its because people wont give PD a chance. My friends refused to watch it and when I (literally) forced them to watch an episode they enjoyed it! If Daisies would show more commercials and reruns throughout the week it could be doing SO much better.
You know, The Russian Assassin, I think you’re right. I remember my brain wandering off during commercials, and thinking, “this seems like a lot more than usual!” Also - if you watch Fringe you get spoiled, since they only have 60 second and 90 second commercials, and tell the length beforehand (a neat idea, IMO). But honestly … I was getting cheesed with ABC (even more cheesed, I mean) because it seemed like such little PD goodness, and such a lot of commercial garbage. Maybe it’s the holidays? Do they play more during holidays so people buy more??
I love how badass Lily is in this episode.
I agree. I love badass Lily, looking even more badass with that eyepatch and those cowboy boots.
Truly, the show just gets better and better with each passing episode! It makes me tingle…and not just in the nether regions! Ha! I love spunky, little Olive! I love me some tall guys, too, but did anyone else notice how big Lee’s hands looked compared to Kristen’s? Kinda funny…like, Andre the Giant funny. *^_^* He’s still g-o-r-g-e-o-u-s, though! *sigh*
oh my gosh, i just watched the episode. seriously, SO GOOD!
I have always loved chuck and ned together, but seeing Olive and Ned together in this episode, then holding hands, it seriously warmed my heart. I love them!
Okay prepare yourslef guys cause I’ve got a TON to say after reading your comments.
First off, I totally agree with you Russian Assassin, there is WAY TO MANY COMMERICALS!!! Stop playing adds for private practice ABC, no one cares!!!!
Oh and now on to how fantabulously wonderful this episode was. To be honest I didn’t think this episode was as good as the last, probably because it’s an “answer” episode ( u know the epis that answer the big cliff-hanger questions of the previous epi?) ,but it was still an amazing episode! Fav parts of the episode:
1) Waffle Nazi!!!!
Lily’s boots at the graveyard, loved them!
2) Actress as the Marrianne Beatle was amazing! I loved her voice!
3) Ned and Chucks snuggling device
4) Olive sining Eternal Flame (had it stuck in my head the whole next day!)
5) Chuck’s guilty conscious speaking to her through Dwight (Shut up! Shut up! lol )
6) Chuck shoveling dirt as fast as she could on Dwight’s face
7) Ned and Olive’s pie hats. Adorable and funny!
9) Though I’m a Ned/Chuck fan, When Vivan gave that speech about love to Olive and got Olive back on the Nolive train, it was really hearfelt and uplifting.
There is so much more I could put but I’m pretty sure you get the picture! Oh and I didn’t read any of you guys mentioning Dwight Dixon dying!!!??? What a perfect way of solving a horrible perdicament, great job PD writers!
Finally, I really don’t like that Ned and Chuck are going to have a fight. You could tell at the end there that Ned is not going to be happy with Chuck. I’m still anticipating the akward Charkles and Ned moments tho!
Did anyone else notice the Bittersweets Taffy people walking around? I rewatched it several times today, and I must say that this was the best PD episode to date. There were so many [obscure] references. And I loved the baking jokes. Although I must say some were pretty naughty. And I miss Digby & Pigby. What happened to them?
I was rewatching the episode, and did anyone else notice that in the background of the comfort foods convention they had someone in the Balsam’s Bitter Sweets Emporium walking around? I’m pretty sure I’m right, and if I am, that’s just so cool how they would do that.
Wow, sorry linda, didn’t read your comment, i feel terrible, but nice job noticing that too. Great episode.
Linda and Christian, good eyes on the Bittersweets - I’ll look harder next time I watch it. Honestly, I’m glad Dilly Balsam didn’t make an appearance. She was my least favorite character so far.
Nice Hobbit reference, though - the image of Sean Astin as Sam flying with a jetpack flashed across my brain. Very appropriate to mention Hobbits in an episode about food!
i loved this episode !!! favourite bits had to be in no particular order as they say
; (1) ned and olives costumes (especially neds lil pie hat awwww!!) (2) ned and olive trapped in the trunk (man i wish i was kristin in that scene :P) (3) olive singing eternal flame was sheer brilliance
(4) the spooning contraption
This episode totally live up to all my expectations! And each episode just keeps getting better and better, I just can’t wait to see what they have in store for us next week.
Loved the episode! I wish it weren’t going to end in just a few short weeks. How unfair and completely short-sighted of ABC.
i hate to say it, but for some reason, i’m really not liking Chuck’s character much anymore. I feel like her character is not the cute light hearted girl anymore…even her outfits are not as cutesy as they once were
It’s like she says in another episode: “I grew up.” People take on some of their partner’s traits the longer they spend together. I mean, heck! I’d be pretty bitter with each passing day if I couldn’t even brush my boyf’s hand. It’s all so sweet, the tension and all, but you have to realize that there’s going to be some adjusting and a little sad yearning in the process of Ned and Chuck growing together. Maybe Olive will have her chance after all. You know? If Ned doesn’t “take forever to figure it out.”
*sigh*
It’s all so sweet nonetheless. *^_^*
why in heaven sake haven’t you put the plot or the pics for this episode??? you really need to update that. I kinda liked it most when it was like three or four episodes up, Im one of those persons that really needs to know what happens next so please!!! I really like to collect the photos, anyway this page is awesome and I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOEVE ADORE pushing daisies xoxo
This episode was adorable!
I loved the interactions between the characters and how their relationships are growing! Chuck and Emerson! Ned and Olive! I adore this show!! I’m so sad to see it go! But I’m happy that I still get to watch it while it is on!
“For the love of Julia Childs!”
I giggled often and loudly during this episode!
LOVE!
PS-
Good News PD Fans!
It seems like they are still planning on releasing the soundtrack!
http://www.amazon.com/Pushing-Daisies-James-Dooley/dp/B001G9LVMA/ref=pd_bbs_sr_6?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1228861451&sr=8-6
Amazon.com says it’s due out December 23rd!
It finally hit me - I love the irony of Ned being potentially mad at Chuck for keeping her dad alive (and keeping it secret from Ned) when last year, Ned was afraid of losing Chuck when she found out he’d (accidentally) killed her dad. Such a perfect circle.
Can’t wait for tonight’s new episode!
Why does it say “Lily discovers Chuck is alive as she spies on Vivian who is spied on by Chuck.” in the summary? that never happened.
Asby, I was wondering the exact same thing when I read the summary for Comfort Food. What’s up wtih that?
brian fuller saying stuuf like that pisses me off if u r going to have it as chuck and ned “meant to be together” which i dont see y as they dnt have chemistry and are sickly and annoying
then also dnt have ned lead olive on sometimes it is annoying
the pie maker is sooooooooo my BFF I LOVE HIM!!!!!!!
i loved this ep it was amazing
but omg i cant belive chuck was soo sneaky but neds a nice guy so i think he will forgive her.
athough i couldnt help noticing olive & ned did have some cute moments together.
i loved ned and olives outfits for the comfort food cook off they were amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!but than chucks out fit was more modern than usual (i swear my frinds got chucks jacket)
in that pic ye it looks like ned is holding hands wiv olive is so want them together
xx
If only more than 78 people could hear this..
What I don’t understand is why Ned can touch Olive all he wants, and nothing happens to her? It’s been bugging me for episodes and episodes–there HAS to be a catch. Of course, this is the furthest I’ve gotten, so don’t spoil it for me if I’ve caught onto something that gets explained later…..
Your web site is definately worthy of a bookmark, thank you!
