Kristin Chenoweth Joins “Legally Mad”

Published by The Pie Maker at 8:08 am under Kristin Chenoweth

 Kristin Chenoweth aka Legally Mad

It’s bittersweet news for PUSHING DAISIES fans.  Kristin Chenoweth has just been cast in “Legally Mad”, a new NBC series from David E. Kelley

In “Legally Mad,” Chenoweth is set to play Skippy Pylon, a cheerful and brilliant attorney who nonetheless exhibits flashes of psychosis — and enjoys being mistaken for a teenager.

“I’ve wanted to work with her for a long time and can’t wait to reveal her as someone who’s completely mad,” Kelley said.

“Legally Mad,” which is set at a Chicago law practice, reps the first major project to come out of Kelley’s deal with Warner Bros. TV, which is producing the show.

We wish nothing but the best for Kristin, but we will surely miss Olive Snook.

Good for her! But, the news just makes me incredibly sad.

  3. Katieon 19 Dec 2008 at 12:32 pm

    Sigh…I’ll miss the music.

Still going to check out this show though. Sounds interesting.
Plus it’s got Kristin in it, which will be awsome.

i will def at least check out the pilot. the last time i trusted a kristin show i ended up loving it! so i have faith in this one too. good to see that there is life after death so to speak for some of the cast. though i will sadly misss olive snook (which is a great alias)

  5. danishon 19 Dec 2008 at 1:40 pm

that’s so good for kristin but i don’t think I’ll be able to watch that show it would just be too sad : (

  6. Katieon 19 Dec 2008 at 2:35 pm

    I just had a thought…

What would happen if PD was picked up by another network now? The cast would change. There’d be a NEW Olive. I mean, if Cheno’s already been cast in Legally Mad, there’s probably contracts involved and I doubt she’d be able to just pick up and leave to go back to PD.

It’d be like the entire show being re-cast with the Norwiegians D:
I don’t think I’d be able to put up with it. I fell in love with CHENO’S Olive, and no one else can fill her itty bitty shoes.

    Thoughts?

  7. Digbyon 19 Dec 2008 at 3:52 pm

Glad to hear Kristin has a new project but the show doesn’t appeal from the summary - Ally McBeal much?

Olive wouldn’t be Olive without Kristin, but I still hope PD gets picked up by another network. (That said, I can’t wait to see all the cast in other roles, just because they’re so talented.)

  8. eelwon 19 Dec 2008 at 4:06 pm

I doubt the Olive character would be recast. The majority of the cast was handpicked for each role.

And it is kind of fitting for Cheno to join a David E Kelley show. She has used the saying “It gives me pause” a couple of times as Olive. The character of John Cage from Ally McBeal also used that same saying. Wonder how close this show is to begin to be produced?

  9. Anjelineon 19 Dec 2008 at 4:12 pm

at first i thought the title said Legally Blonde haha
and i at least want to watch it to give it a chance but PD will still prevail! :D
well, at least Cheno isn’t jobless!

  10. Shardithon 19 Dec 2008 at 4:56 pm

I will definitely give this new show a watch because of Kristin. However, I hope that if PD ever continues in another form on another network, she will return to play Olive Snook. I’m definitely going to miss that spunky little pie-slinger.

  11. Rhubarbon 19 Dec 2008 at 5:15 pm

I’m so happy to hear that Kristin has been quickly picked up by another network…tho I’m sure she’d rather be Olive ‘picked up’ by Ned…ope!

Hopefully she can really dig into this new role with enthusiasm and be able to (somehow?) put lovely Olive aside eventhough she loved playing that character like nothing she’s ever done before. Congrats to Kristin!

Here’s hoping the rest of the cast can find new quality projects as well…

(oh!, and nice job making that connection, eelw! That line…’it gives me pause…’ is one of the only tidbits I remember about Ally McBeal!) = )

  12. Franon 19 Dec 2008 at 5:27 pm

I’m happy for Kristin too. Hopefully her new show is not cancelled as well, that would be sad for her.
I think for PD hope is short that another network will pick it up so I guess we have to live on without it *sob*
But I’m sure (if there’s going to be a movie) that the whole PD cast, including Kristin, will be in it.
As for Lee, Anna and Chi, they’ll probably continue to do movies as they’ve before. I mean 2009 in a big Lee year in Germany! “The Fall” and “Possessed” are coming to theaters and “Miss Pettigrew” and “Pushing Daisies” are coming out on DVD. So if he continues to be so bussy I’m sure we see a lot from Lee from now on! ^^

  13. Kimberon 20 Dec 2008 at 4:06 pm

I’m glad Kristin has found work, and I’ll definitely check it out to see her, but it makes the news of PD’s cancelation all the more real.

  14. kristinloveron 20 Dec 2008 at 5:29 pm

iM SO PROUD OIF HER BUT I AGREE ITS GONNA BE TARIBBLY SAD cause no1 can beet olive snook ~sigh~

now i hope i dont drop to the floor crying agen =(

  15. Pie Loveron 20 Dec 2008 at 6:40 pm

:( I really do wish I were happy about this but this information just pulls me into reality and I no longer have hope for Pushing Daisies continuing. I was so NOT hoping to hear this news but something more along the lines of:

*Pushing Daisies will have a Season 3!

    or

*Pushing Daisies Season 2 to get 22 episodes!

    or even

*Chenoweth joins original Wicked cast to make movie!
(not as happy but I really want this too :) )

~Good Luck Kristin, You’ll be great!

  16. rockerbabyfi12on 21 Dec 2008 at 1:41 pm

I’ll check it out if it doesn’t conflict with anything else I watch. If it’s on Wednesdays at 8 I’ll be pissed and possibly boycott it out of principle. lol …or not…

However reading this just now really almost made me cry cause I realized that these actors will never again get to embody these characters.

  17. Franon 22 Dec 2008 at 7:16 am

I agree, those news are making the cancelation more real and it makes me sad as well! I don’t think that this is the end. I mean, if there is a movie some day, the whole cast will be there again. Until then I’m gonna have my two eyes on them and watch every project they’ll have and support them as good as I can!!!^^

  18. Anilon 23 Dec 2008 at 4:11 am

Well happy for her but as her BIG fan I don’t think I will follow the series as it would bee too sad and I’ve giving up on TV so good luck to her!
I’m just sad that they’re moving on too quickly. Which means our campaings for a network change is not happening. :(
But only good thing is that DAISIES won’t lost its magical touch — 22 LOVELY episodes and am proud of em all! :)

  19. Franon 23 Dec 2008 at 9:14 am

“That’s the spirit” as Napoleon LeNey would say^^

  20. Breanne?on 24 Dec 2008 at 2:42 am

Good for Kristin, I’m glad to see her career going places! …but Pushing Daisies won’t be near as good without Olive, it won’t float. I can’t believe what I read. Worst news ever. Really. Pushing Daisies was my favorite thing ever. ):

  21. Franon 24 Dec 2008 at 5:53 pm

Hey, just wanted to wish everybody a Happy Holiday! May your socks be filled with love, happiness and peace!

Greetings and hugs to the whole PD-Cast + all the Fans from Germany^^

P.S. I got ” A lovely Way to spend Christmas” and the symphony Nr.7 which is used in “The Fall”. And I’m as happy as a little honey cake horse^^

Speaking of PD characters in other roles, did anyone else notice young Ned in that new McDonald’s commercial?

Its the one with the three kids who are doing a McNugget stunt jump or whatever. He the one who bites into the nugget at the end.

    Took me by surprise xD

  24. Leonora619on 26 Dec 2008 at 8:25 pm

Yeah I noticed Young Ned too.

  25. Theresaon 28 Dec 2008 at 2:17 am

Young Chuck was also in The Santa Clause 3 which surprised me when I was watching with my family.

This is fabulous news though for Kristin. I’m glad she has found other work, but she has said before she is a work-a-holic. heehee =]

  26. kristinloveron 29 Dec 2008 at 3:16 am

  28. Katieon 29 Dec 2008 at 1:16 pm

The next Pushing Daisies episode is set to air in 12 days, 12 hours, 46 minutes and 20 seconds at time of writing (according to the ABC website). Which puts it at about….either January 9th or 10th, which is next Friday or Saturday.

I have no clue what time it would be on, but if it’s 9:15 AM Pacific time right now..plus 12 hours…then it’d be airing at like 9 or 10 at night, Eastern/Pacific.

Of course this is just purely speculation based on the timer, which could be changed. I suggest checking your schedule again, looking for PD on a Friday or Saturday, after 8 at night.

As for the DVD, no clue. But I sure as hell hope so.

  29. Katieon 29 Dec 2008 at 3:16 pm

OK, you guys are going to hate me, but PLEASE don’t shoot the messenger…

“and ABC’s Wednesday duo Pushing Daisies (4.7 million) and Dirty Sexy Money (series-low 5.1 million). Both ABC shows will air a few remaining episodes next summer.”
    Source: http://www.usatoday.com/life/television/news/2008-12-23-nielsens-analysis_N.htm?loc=interstitialskip

Sorry for the double post, but I felt it necessary to correct my previous statement. Now I really don’t know when the last episodes will air. Let’s just hope to God USA Today got it wrong…..

  30. Daisyon 29 Dec 2008 at 9:07 pm

Katie- Oh my god no! The summer? Next thing you know they won’t be airing them at all! What are we going to do?

  31. Franon 30 Dec 2008 at 11:14 am

“Oh HELL no!!!”, that was Emerson in my mind! What the fudge is that about airing them in the summer? Are they sick or something?
On January 14th the 2nd Season of PD starts in Germany so what will happen over here, if even you guys see the last remaining episodes this late?????

@Daisy: I know exactly what I’m going to do. Watch PD as much as I can on DVD, go to the theater and watch “The Fall” and “Possession”, wait for more movies from the PD-Cast and last but not least…hope for the best!!!!!

  32. kristinloveron 30 Dec 2008 at 5:00 pm

For those who don’t want to go there this is what the article link from Katie says in the middle: :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

    • Closeouts. Finishing their unsuccessful runs last week: NBC’s My Own Worst Enemy (3.9 million viewers Monday), and ABC’s Wednesday duo Pushing Daisies (4.7 million) and Dirty Sexy Money (series-low 5.1 million). Both ABC shows will air a few remaining episodes next summer.

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

  35. rockerbabyfi12on 03 Jan 2009 at 1:15 pm

I was wondering about that cause I’ve been checking TVguide.com and haven’t seen it coming back. Nice of them to effing warn us so we could prepare. Jeez. ABC really eff-ed this one up.

  36. Katieon 03 Jan 2009 at 9:56 pm

“Nice of them to effing warn us so we could prepare. Jeez. ABC really eff-ed this one up.”
    QFT

Anyways…news on the episodes!!! Rumors are going around on the PD Livejournal that the next new Pushing Daisies will air on a Wednesday.

Wednesday, January 28th to be exact. It’s suppose to air at it’s normal eight, followed by Lost and Life on Mars. Dunno if it’ll really air, but at least it’s better then having the eps air in summer!!!
