Hey Pushing Daisies and Lee Pace fans, if you live in Los Angeles get your butt to the Hammer Museum tonight to see a screening of Lee’s film “The Fall.”
When: April 17, 2008
Time: 7 p.m.
Price: Free Event
http://www.hammer.ucla.edu
Hammer Museum Neighborhood: Westwood 10899 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90024
Filter Magazine and the Hammer team up for a screening of Tarsem Singh’s new film “The Fall.” Known simply as Tarsem, this Indian director’s previous work includes Jennifer Lopez vehicle “The Cell” as well as R.E.M.’s video for “Losing My Religion.” In any case, “The Fall” somehow manages to tell the story of a 1915 Los Angeles hospital juxtaposed with a fantasy world of bandits, palaces and dreamy landscapes (the film was shot in over 18 countries). Imagine “The English Patient” on steroids. Tarsem will be on-hand for a Q n A to follow the film.

Here’s a question… could you live without Pushing Daisies‘ second episode “Dummy“? It’s a question that those in the UK won’t have to answer for themselves because ITV has made that decision for them.
ITV is pulling “Dummy” from their lineup and skipping right to the third episode “The Fun In Funeral” because they only allocated 8 weeks to air Daisies’ 9 week run. That ain’t right…
Here is an article from The Guardian outlining the importance of the second chapter in literature, film and AA.
Can you imagine if ABC just didn’t bother airing the second episode of the season? All bloody hell would have broke loose.

Dan here with a juicy little tidbit I’ve sat on for quite some time… It’s a secret that I wasn’t able to spill for fear of Bryan Fuller bitch-slapping me into Coeur d’Coeurs and luckily I didn’t have to, someone else did!
There has long been a rumor that one of the characters in the Pushing Daisies world is gay. Way back in the early days of the show, series creator Bryan Fuller told me that it was NOT one of the main characters but that one day he/she would be revealed.
I finally got that answer I was looking for and I vowed not to tell a soul…
Well, the good folks that I work for over at AfterElton.com have gone public with Bryan’s answer and I didn’t even write the article or give them the scoop!
Want to know who’s got a crush on our favorite knitter Emerson or possibly even our beloved Pie Maker? Head on over to AfterElton.com to find out! While you’re there, check out the video they posted from our red carpet coverage of the NYTVF Premiere of Pushing Daisies.

Broadway stars Kristin Chenoweth and Raul Esparza will be joining conductor/composer Marvin Hamlisch and the New York Philharmonic on May 20th for Broadway’s Greatest Showstoppers!
Tickets appear to be SOLD OUT but keep checking, you never know when luck might be your lady (or man) tonight. (Tickets Link)

STUNNING Brit actress Anna Friel has Hollywood under her spell.
From SARA NATHAN
TV Editor - The Sun (Reprinted from The Sun)
She is starring in hit US TV comedy Pushing Daisies and is captivating audiences as she did when she was introduced as Beth Jordache on Channel 4 soap Brookside in 1993.
But it took a fair amount of bravery to cross the pond again after failing there on her first trip since leaving Brookie.
Anna had a brilliant turn as a stripper in Broadway play Closer in 1998, later Natalie Portman played her role in the big-screen version. But Anna then slunk home after the harsh realities of Hollywood sank in.

Those of us in the US have to wait until September to experience Season One of PUSHING DAISIES on DVD, but our friends in the UK only have to wait until June 23rd (lucky Brits). And courtesy of our friends across the pond comes a first look at the S1 DVD cover art.

No word yet on the special features, but we expect to know soon and we’ll be sure to pass it along.
Thanks to our friends at AnnaFriel.org, the Official Anna Friel Website for the tip.

Happy Birthday Barry Sonnenfeld! Seriously, if the Pushing Daisies folks have any more birthdays we’re going to have to start a cake pie company.

As sad as I am that there will be no new PUSHING DAISIES episodes until the Fall (or July for those of us lucky enough to go to Comic Con), I take comfort in knowing that I can check out The Pie Hole gang anytime I want at ABC.com. Currently four full episodes (”Dummy”, “Corpsicle”, “Bitter Sweets, “Smell of Success”) are your free to watch anytime you want.
Pretty soon we are going to be launching a little contest aimed at finding out how YOU think we can get new viewers watching PUSHING DAISIES come the Fall, but until then make sure you tell everyone you know about the show and encourage them to go to ABC.com to experience the magic that is PUSHING DAISIES.

When we created ThePieMaker.com we wanted to not only help promote our favorite show but help bring awareness to various causes and charities in hopes of getting readers to give back in the name of Pushing Daisies fandom!
Since 2002, ThePieMaker.com’s own Dan has been riding his bike (a lot) to raise money for HIV/AIDS awareness, education, and prevention. He’s raised over $15,000 for various AIDS organizations and peddled over 1,100 miles to help bring an end to this devastating pandemic.
This September he’ll once again get on that 4″ bike seat and ride up to 10 hours a day from Gettysburg to New York City as part of Braking The Cycle 2008.
All of the proceeds go to Braking The Cycle’s beneficiary The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center in New York City which has been working since 1983 to educate and prevent the spread of HIV and AIDS.
ThePieMaker.com wants to help Dan raise $4,000 by the end of the summer and we need your help!
If you can only donate $1 to the ride, that’s amazing - every dollar counts! If you’re capable of giving more ($10, $25, $50 and up) that’s just as incredible. Each and every donation is appreciated and goes toward saving lives and preventing the further spread of HIV/AIDS.
