    Sounds great!

Small note though- the sentence structure in the summary is slightly awkward, leaving the impression that the horse is called Olive- it might be better to put a period after “horse” to avoid confusion. :)

  2. The Pie Makeron 15 Oct 2007 at 4:30 pm

Ha ha. I just picked that up from the press release but you are so right.

  3. Kaiton 15 Oct 2007 at 7:20 pm

*sigh* someone needs to re-read over their press releases….. :P

“nears” at the end is missing an “s” as well.

  4. Kimberon 16 Oct 2007 at 9:30 am

Tee hee … I had to re-read that recap a few times, too, as I also thought the horse was named Olive! But then I was like “wait, Olive was a jockey? That must be our cute little Olive, and not a horse named Olive, right?” Ah. Yes, those press releases really need to be reread and edited *before* they hit the air!

  5. Ned (dan.)on 31 Oct 2007 at 7:58 pm

    almost time to TALK DAISIES!

  6. Raeon 31 Oct 2007 at 8:03 pm

Yay! The show is on… loving the Halloween decorations and the narration is kinda great here at the beginning.

  7. Kimberon 31 Oct 2007 at 8:04 pm

    >> almost time to TALK DAISIES!

Yah!!! I like the new narration - it’s very Suess-esque!

  8. Chuckon 31 Oct 2007 at 8:05 pm

Yeah, I kind of love the rhyming, and poor Young Ned.

  9. Kimberon 31 Oct 2007 at 8:12 pm

I’m loving it so far! I love Emerson talking to “the money” (and Ned’s faces as he’s doing so), and Chuck’s aunts putting her in “full head gear” as a form of birth control! Hilarious.

  10. Maybelleon 31 Oct 2007 at 8:15 pm

I WANT THE COMICS PLEASE!!! PLEASE!!! I BEG YOU!!! *lol*

I’m fascinated with Oliver S. and she’s my favorite character so far.

Happy Halloween and let’s find out who the real ghost is ;)

  11. LKGon 31 Oct 2007 at 8:16 pm

I was a huge fan of The Nine and even watched it die off on ABC.com. I have to say though, Chi McBride is so much more suited for this role than his role on The Nine. He actually fits as more of a “comedic” actor! I just wanted to express my like for one of the more overlooked stars of this great show.

  12. Raeon 31 Oct 2007 at 8:16 pm

    OMG. Jock Off?!

  13. Kimberon 31 Oct 2007 at 8:18 pm

Rae: I KNOW! I was just thinking that. What the heck?!?

Also - did anyone else notice that Ned and Chuck have a booster seat between them on the Pie Hole bench? That’s too cute. And also - was that Lefty’s arm Ned was using to scratch Digby??

  14. Chuckon 31 Oct 2007 at 8:19 pm

Yeah that was Lem’s arm. Nice continuity. A nice Olive centric episode so far…love Ms. Snook. And where does Ned need to go all by his lonesome without his favorite gal?

  15. Krystynaon 31 Oct 2007 at 8:19 pm

Oooh, what a great Halloween episode! I adored the separation and then reunion of Chuck/Ned in this ep. I’m glad that Ned is allowing himself to FEEL and actually miss people that are not in his past. Very well played!

  16. Kimberon 31 Oct 2007 at 8:22 pm

Cheno is extra cute in this episode! You’re right, Chuck, it’s a really nice Olive-centric episode so far! Also lots of Emerson/Olive moments, which is awesome!

And yes - just where is Ned going without Chuck? Hmm … to spy on his dad’s house maybe? Get a Ouija Board?

  17. Sarahon 31 Oct 2007 at 8:23 pm

This is a wonderful episode so far. :)

  18. Chuckon 31 Oct 2007 at 8:24 pm

Completely off topic, but wouldn’t it be strangely sweet to have Ned make Chuck’s Dad alive again? Although he’d be a little…ew.

  19. Ned (dan.)on 31 Oct 2007 at 8:25 pm

I love reading your comments, as I’m not at a tv right now but I’m following you all via the iPhone.

  20. Chuck (Kath)on 31 Oct 2007 at 8:29 pm

“You wouldn’t need all that bait if your belly were full of fish, dear”
    HA HA HA HA HA!!

  21. Raeon 31 Oct 2007 at 8:29 pm

Emerson’s chuckle is the best. Love finally having Olive involved in the investigating.

  22. Kimberon 31 Oct 2007 at 8:31 pm

Emerson/Olive/Chuck = dreamteam!! They are hilarious together, but poor Emerson!!

Chuck, that would be really sweet if Ned brought Chuck’s dad back to life. I have a feeling she’ll find out what happened eventually (him causing the death), and perhaps he’ll try and bring him back to life for her. He might be a little … eww … but you never know. I wonder if Ned could do it?

  23. Chuck (Kath)on 31 Oct 2007 at 8:36 pm

This episode is killing me!! So sweet. I’ve been in tears about 5 times now.

  24. Kimberon 31 Oct 2007 at 8:37 pm

Aww … “I missed you”! Oh my god, the looks between those two!! *sniffle sniffle*

  25. Raeon 31 Oct 2007 at 8:37 pm

Awww. That just made me tear up. I’m such a sucker.

  26. Raeon 31 Oct 2007 at 8:37 pm

Haha. You and me both, Kimber!

  27. Raeon 31 Oct 2007 at 8:40 pm

    “Damn it.” Poor Olive.

  28. Kimberon 31 Oct 2007 at 8:41 pm

Olive and Chuck BONDING over the Aunts! I love it!

  29. Ashon 31 Oct 2007 at 8:43 pm

    lovin’ this episode!

  30. Chuck (Kath)on 31 Oct 2007 at 8:44 pm

Ash - YAY! Glad to see you around these parts.

  31. Jennon 31 Oct 2007 at 8:44 pm

I loved the episode. Ned and the Aunts were so cute. I love how one is blunt and the other is sweet.

  32. Kelseyon 31 Oct 2007 at 8:46 pm

Kristin and Chi are just like the Best Comedic Team ever. Serious.

But I feel even worse for Ned than I usually do, and that’s saying something. :( Aww, your dad sucks, honey. Want a hug?

Loving the Olive/Chuck dream team, and bonding over the aunts…not to mention the aunts with Ned and consoling him that his dad was a jackass.

  33. Emilyon 31 Oct 2007 at 8:47 pm

Ned’s tears were as beautiful and heartbreaking as Jim’s in Casino Night!!

  34. Ashon 31 Oct 2007 at 8:50 pm

wow. i like the way that chuck and olive are bonding over this. the mascot guy is amusing- such a momma’s boy

  35. Chuck (Kath)on 31 Oct 2007 at 8:52 pm

Ned needs an emotional heimlich. Can’t he and Ned come up with a way to hug?

  36. Maybelleon 31 Oct 2007 at 8:53 pm

I was laughing so hard when Olive and Chuck said “yay” together. I really love them both on screen. They are too funny for their own good.

I bet the ghost is John’s mom!!!

  37. Kelseyon 31 Oct 2007 at 8:55 pm

I knew it was the mother!

  38. Kimberon 31 Oct 2007 at 8:56 pm

    Mama Jacobs?!?!?

Olive and Chuck are incredible together! And also - I’m really hoping for a hug too! Couldn’t they put on their beekeeper suits and share a good emotional Heimlich??

  39. Maybelleon 31 Oct 2007 at 8:56 pm

I WAS RIGHT!!! So do I get the comics now? Please? *lol*. Just wishful thinking.

  40. Emilyon 31 Oct 2007 at 8:56 pm

I’m loving this quirky homage to the headless horseman.

  41. Raeon 31 Oct 2007 at 8:57 pm

    “I love you, Shovel.”

  42. Kelseyon 31 Oct 2007 at 8:57 pm

…wow, we were perilously close to having an Olive-centric episode without a Cheno musical number! That was close!

I am ridiculously pleased by Ned’s rescue of Olive. And by Emerson’s love for his shovel.

  43. Chuck (Kath)on 31 Oct 2007 at 8:57 pm

Kissy kiss!!! Olive Snook I am a VERY jealous girl!!

  44. Emilyon 31 Oct 2007 at 8:57 pm

Oh god, poor Olive! I know Ned loves Chuck but he could be a little more sensitive!

  45. Kimberon 31 Oct 2007 at 8:58 pm

    Emerson + Shovel = OTP!!

Aww, poor Olive :( As much as I feel badly for it, I’m still thinking “GET OFF HIM! He’s Chuck’s man!!”

  46. Maybelleon 31 Oct 2007 at 8:58 pm

OMG!!! Olive and Ned KISSED!!! *dies*

  47. Maybelleon 31 Oct 2007 at 8:59 pm

Awwww! Such a fantastic episode ;)

  48. Kimberon 31 Oct 2007 at 9:00 pm

    WHAT!!!?????? (I’ve seen the preview)

  49. Ashon 31 Oct 2007 at 9:00 pm

thats sweet- she gets to see her aunts for trick or treat.

2 weeks!!! i dont want to wait

and what is going on with olive and ned?

  50. Chuck (Kath)on 31 Oct 2007 at 9:00 pm

I can’t believe it’s over. And OMG did you see the scenes for the next episode. HOLY WOW!!!!!!

  51. Emilyon 31 Oct 2007 at 9:00 pm

Uh, were Olive and Ned naked?!

  52. Kelseyon 31 Oct 2007 at 9:00 pm

…that preview leaves me struggling for words.

  53. Raeon 31 Oct 2007 at 9:01 pm

I bet it’s a dream… of some sort. Still, yowsers!

  54. Alon 31 Oct 2007 at 9:01 pm

I loved tonight’s episode, and the preview for next week’s ep looks even more fun!

  55. Emilyon 31 Oct 2007 at 9:02 pm

You’re probably right, Rae. But still…they were naked!

  56. Raeon 31 Oct 2007 at 9:05 pm

I know! Great. Now I have to wait TWO weeks for a Naked Ned.

  57. Chuck (Kath)on 31 Oct 2007 at 9:05 pm

I just want to thank Bryan Fuller for bringing Lee Pace into my life because I’m smitten with that boy.

I really loved this episode. The premise was so out there, but it was perfectly balanced with the Ned’s emotional journey.

  58. Kimberon 31 Oct 2007 at 9:06 pm

Naked Ned and Naked Olive?!? Nooo! I mean, well, not “noo” per se, but … not *together*!

And you’re telling me I have to wait TWO WEEKS to see this? *dies* That’s just not cool.

  59. Lizon 31 Oct 2007 at 9:06 pm

Honestly, this episode wasn’t as awesome as the other ones. Maybe it’s just because I love the cute interactions between Ned and Chuck. Haha.

I did love that Olive was focused on in this episode, especially because she’s such a cute/funny character. Seeing her with the long wavy hair was amusing. I would have never expected her to be a jockey, but it was clever.

The end was odd, but one thing I love about the show is that it doesn’t get too “teen drama”-esque, especially with the Olive/Ned/Chuck “thing” that’s going on.

Poor Olive… But I have to admit, I got mad at the preview for next week.

  60. turnituploudcapnon 31 Oct 2007 at 9:12 pm

I loved the rhyming narration…also, I can’t BELIEVE the clip for the next episode. Gaahh!!

  61. Maeon 31 Oct 2007 at 9:14 pm

Ned’s little crooked grin makes him look so very snoggable! This show is so completely cracked, I adore it to pieces.

And Emerson/Shovel is so my new OTP.

  62. Chuck (Kath)on 31 Oct 2007 at 9:15 pm

“This show is so completely cracked”

…Perfect way to describe this show!! It is cracked!!

  63. WaywardWindon 31 Oct 2007 at 9:18 pm

So, if that was a dream in the preview, was it Olive’s or Ned’s? After that whole Neopolitan icecream conversation, I’m not quite sure.

  64. Alisonon 31 Oct 2007 at 9:18 pm

It has to be a dream. Has to be.

Side note: Why do we have to wait two weeks?

  65. Kristynon 31 Oct 2007 at 9:18 pm

I thought that the episode was good, but not as great as previous episodes. Does that make sense? I did love that Chuck went trick or treating at her aunts’ I thought it was sweet.

As for the preview for the next episode–Agh! Not Olive and Ned! That better be a dream that Olive is having!

I think it’s ridiculously mean of ABC to make us wait TWO WEEKS before we see a new episode, and then to show that clip. I agree, not cool.

  66. Kimberon 31 Oct 2007 at 9:19 pm

Alison - the CMA (Country Music Association) Awards are on ABC next Wednesday. I love country music, but I’d much rather be watching Pushing Daisies!

And yes, I’m really hoping that naked scene was a dream! Probably Olive’s, as she seems to have some very vivid ones.

  67. Stephanieon 31 Oct 2007 at 9:20 pm

It was awesome! I was a bit lost because I missed last week’s ep, but I loved it! I love how Ned went to talk to Lily and Vivian, and how Chuck and Olive are becoming more friends (though they both love Ned). I love Emerson and his shovel, lol. And I absolutely LOVE the ending! It was a beautiful, bittersweet, but awesome ending!

  68. Maybelleon 31 Oct 2007 at 9:20 pm

I don’t know what to do next Wednesday night without PD!

  69. Raeon 31 Oct 2007 at 9:21 pm

Wayward: Because of the “Don’t tell Chuck” part, I’d guess it is Ned’s dream (or him picturing it in his head).

Alison: The Country Music Awards are on next Weds.

  70. Alisonon 31 Oct 2007 at 9:25 pm

I’ve always hated country music, now I hate it even more!

I found myself really missing the interaction between Chuck and Ned in the first half of this episode, but I guess it’s good to branch out and discover more about the other characters. Otherwise I’d probably end up complaining about seeing them too much. On second thought, no, I don’t think it is possible to have too much of them!

I think I will have to watch the show on this site in two weeks. I’ve just been watching the show by myself, and making myself a LJ post commenting through the show. It’s way more fun to read what you all post!

  71. Tamara Burkson 31 Oct 2007 at 9:26 pm

I really want Ned to find his father at some point and punch his lights out. Chuck’s aunts are right about Ned’s father being a jackass. The only contact he has with his son is to send him a pre-printed notice like you would send to get the address on you magazine subscription updated.

Very clever form of birth control that Chuck’s aunts came up with.

Still loving this show to bits .

  72. Kimberon 31 Oct 2007 at 9:31 pm

This was definitely fun. Sadly, I’m not usually home on Wednesdays at this time, so I watch PD when I get home. But now I’m tempted to drop my kickboxing/yoga class so I can stay home and discuss it with you guys!!

My LJ posts are fun, but not nearly as fun as this!

  73. Ikoon 31 Oct 2007 at 9:39 pm

    I loved the opening.

Some folks have been grumbling about the narration getting annoying or whatever, and I think that the narration is one of the big things that make the show shine. That was clearly in evidence with this episode, where it added a whole bunch of charm and drew the audience into the story.

I hope that this episode has turned down some of the grumbling I’ve seen recently regarding the narrator.

  74. Katon 31 Oct 2007 at 9:39 pm

Oh man, when I saw his dad walk past him, it broke my heart!

  75. Chuck (Kath)on 31 Oct 2007 at 9:44 pm

I thought the narration was different tonight. I really liked the way it was weaved into the show.

  76. Chuck (Kath)on 31 Oct 2007 at 9:53 pm

Loving all the insight and comments tonight. I hope you all come back in 2 weeks and watch with us some more.

    “I love ‘in-charge’ Ned”

  77. Stephanieon 31 Oct 2007 at 10:00 pm

This episode was amazing. The beginning made me so sad. Poor little Ned. :(

  78. Ned (dan.)on 31 Oct 2007 at 10:10 pm

I’m just starting now and seriously, Ned’s entrance tonight… his wind blown face, his hair, and the red eyes from fright of Halloween makes Ned one scary hot dude!

  79. Gretchenon 31 Oct 2007 at 10:12 pm

That was yet another supremely delightful episode! Olive and Chuck were much better together than I thought and Ned continues to break my heart.
Loved Ned eating the strawberry, only to kill it again.
JJJ reminded me just a little too much of Kenneth from 30 Rock, but he was still a good character.
    “Sweet Secretariat!”

Gah! Two weeks is too far away.

  80. Jackion 31 Oct 2007 at 10:23 pm

I time-shifted the show a bit tonight, but still loved slowly reading along with the comments here as I got further in the episode. This website is great - keep it up Dan & Kath!

And as far as the episode went - one of my favorites! I hope they continue to incorporate Olive into more of the show. Cheno is so fun!

  81. Altheaon 31 Oct 2007 at 10:35 pm

I think this episode should squash any complaining about the narration. It was just perfect. Throughout the whole episode I felt like someone was reading me a scary story. I just loved it. Although I’ve loved every episode thus far.

Also, I was so happy when Olive just full out made-out with Ned without his consent. Glad to see someone can act on their impulses.

  82. Asheson 31 Oct 2007 at 10:37 pm

I’m with everyone hoping the whole Ned and Olive sequence in the preview is a dream. One of my favorite things about this show is that they’re fresh. The whole “love triange/which one do I choose” thing has been done to death.

And seriously. Why did ABC have to show the CMAs There are lots of networks out there I never watch. One of them should have picked it up. :-)

  83. pearlon 31 Oct 2007 at 10:46 pm

Every new episode quickly becomes my favorite!! :)

And the preview for Bitches will drive me crazy for the next two weeks

  84. Kristynon 31 Oct 2007 at 10:48 pm

I love the narrator. He’s one of the special touches that this show has that others don’t.

I can honestly say that I can’t find any fault with this show! It’s as close to perfection as you can get.

  85. Kristion 31 Oct 2007 at 11:01 pm

I thought tonights episode was great but not as excellent as it has been the past few weeks. Previews or next week worry me! I hope it’s just Olive doing something similar to what she did this week… ’cause if they ruin Ned and make him a cheater - I will be so upset :(

In other news: Ned and Chuck are still adorable as ever!

  86. Ned (dan.)on 31 Oct 2007 at 11:04 pm

Sigh, it’s over. I absoloved it and there are so many things I want to say but I’m dead tired. Nighty Night my PD fans.

  87. Lizzieon 31 Oct 2007 at 11:04 pm

Fantastic episode all around. Loved the narration! At the beginning of the series, I wasn’t sure that I would warm up to Olive, even though the fabulous Cheno was playing her. However, I have been happily proved wrong. It was really nice to have an Olive-centric episode.
Although it was a bit of a shock to see the preview for the next episode, a tiny, little, itty bitty part of me said “Yay Olive!” when I saw she and Ned together. Yes, it’s weird, and Olive is going to get her heart completely and undeservably broken. But it’s kinda nice to see Olive getting a little bit of what she wants, even if you know she’s going to pay for it in spades later on.
Yes, Chuck and Ned belong together. But Chuck is annoying me a bit with how clingy she’s being. Most of the time it’s endearing, but sometimes I just want her to back off. She’s scaring the pee out of Ned by trying to crack open his shell with a sledgehammer. I think one of the most interesting thing about this show is watching how Fuller is developing the characters of Ned and Chuck, making them face their insecurities.

  88. mg714on 31 Oct 2007 at 11:07 pm

Thought it was another good episode tonight. I liked how Olive was more active and involved in the main story in this episode. I could see her and Chuck being friends even, if not for both of them loving Ned of course!

It was interesting to get some more info into Ned and his past with his father. I’m sure that will somehow play into the show more in the future.

And again, I loved Digby in this episode! :) He was so cute in his Halloween costume with young Ned!

  89. Kristion 31 Oct 2007 at 11:08 pm

Someone above mentioned Ned’s tears - when did that happen?! I think I missed it… I guess I need to rewatch and look for it.

  90. Emilyon 31 Oct 2007 at 11:10 pm

Lizzie, I understand your annoyance with Chuck. She and Ned are becoming like your couple friends who are the definition of pda. Except Ned and Chuck can’t touch so they have this sometimes adorable but bordering on uncomfortable emotionally open relationship…they definitely have their blinders on when around each other. Like I said earlier, poor Olive!

  91. Jessicaon 31 Oct 2007 at 11:11 pm

I just started watching the show and it’s growing on me slowly. I love Olive, she is so cool, funny, and just plain great. Chuck is also as is Ned. This episode was good, I liked the ending. I so thought it was the supposidly dead son even after Olive and Chuck talked to him. It was a shock to find out it was actually his mother doing the killings. And I think Olive had an admirer in John Jacobs. But great episode and the ending was cute and so adorable. Chuck was so great there with her aunts.

The narrator is good for the show. He’s what got me watching in the first place. To hear his take on what’s going on. Can’t wait to see the new episode in two weeks!

  92. Emilyon 31 Oct 2007 at 11:12 pm

Kristi, that was me. They weren’t exactly tears so much, but Ned’s eyes welled up when he was talking to one of the aunts about his dad, in the doorway as he was leaving. One of my biggest pet peeves is fake crying on screen, so I appreciate his genuine and appropriate show of emotion. Check the scene again, they’re faint but they’re there.

  93. Lizzieon 31 Oct 2007 at 11:20 pm

    Emily,

I totally agree. I really don’t want to be annoyed with Chuck. I really like Chuck (plus, I really, really, really want her wardrobe)! But over the past few episodes, I found myself periodically just getting, well, annoyed with her incessant talking and how she’s trying so hard to integrate herself into every area of Ned’s life. But yes, the PDA couple analogy is perfect for them. It’s so odd to see a TV couple try to establish intimacy without touching at all. I guess that’s why they are being so open with each other.

  94. Kellyon 31 Oct 2007 at 11:26 pm

I missed some of the first half of the ep tonight because my niece came trick-or-treating, but what I saw I loved! My 2 favorite parts:

Ned with the aunts - awwww & “I love you, Shovel” lol!

Can’t wait to catch up on what I missed!

Next week will be considerably less bright :(

  95. Lauraon 01 Nov 2007 at 12:10 am

It was nice to see Olive’s compassionate side, and for her to be a little more sympathetic to Chuck’s situation… though it looks like we’re back to square one next week… oh dear!

Chuck/Ned are in for a rocky ride.

  96. bydigon 01 Nov 2007 at 12:48 am

i like Emerson’s “i missed you too!” haha. and the way he always rolls his eyes when Ned and Chuck show affection in front of him.

Very curious to know if there is more to Ned’s relationship with his dad. It’s kinda sad that his childhood was without his parents. :(

I agree with Lizzie on how Chuck is clingy. I used to think it was extremely annoying, but now I find it more endearing.

I like Jockey Olive’s hair! The way Ned swept her off her feet to save her was so cute cos he’s so big and she’s so small! haha.

This show is the new Heroes. Pushing Daisies episodes just keep getting better and better!! I can’t wait for the next one! :)

  97. Susanon 01 Nov 2007 at 2:28 am

“I just want to thank Bryan Fuller for bringing Lee Pace into my life because I’m smitten with that boy.” Ditto to that, and I have to watch the episode again because I only caught a little of it due to Halloween. What’s the Emerson/shovel relationship??

From what I saw, it wasn’t my favorite episode but still fun for Halloween, and I’m loving how Chuck and Ned are slowly bringing each other closer to center. I don’t see her as clingy so much as in touch with her feelings and expressive of them; hopefully she’ll get him to be more open someday. Actually, I think Chuck is perfect, wardrobe included.

Loved tonight’s episode of ‘Pushing Daisies’, went right with
Halloween. I felt sorry for Ned when he was younger and
then still have the terrible memories and ghosts haunt him
during Halloween so he couldn’t enjoy it. I really enjoyed
watchin John Jacob, he sure is good looking, I don’t know
why anybody would be afraid of him.

Could Aunt Vivian’s dislike of being touched be connected to that sex addiction she mentioned tonight?

    Just a random thought.

I actually loved Jacob’s mother from the moment we first saw her and thought that her passive aggressive nature would have been an interesting contrast to Chuck’s aunts.

This episode was great, though my only issue was at first I thought the fire breathing horse was meant to be in some sort of literal sense and for about half the episode I was convinced the horse was somehow mechanical in nature.

I still need to re-watch this episode as late trick-or-treaters interrupted and I didn’t have time to re-watch it, but what I was able to catch, Ned was really pulling at the wee heart strings.

Great episode! I have never had such an emotional reaction to a preview (the one for Bitches). I think the Ned/Olive scene in the preview is Chuck’s dream. She did say she had been having vivid dreams. I’m not going to make it two weeks. Argh!

  103. lonely_touriston 01 Nov 2007 at 11:50 am

I am definitely not in the “poor Olive” camp. She always manages to turn it around and pull it together and be nice before the episode ends, but for the second week in a row she’s been like a bratty child before that happens. She’s so bent on having Ned that she’s willing to hold Chick’s “I know you’re pretending to be dead” thing over her head and flaunt it? Seriously, Olive was absolutely GIDDY (bouncing on her bed) at the thought that she might have a shot at Ned because she was going to scare Chuck away. Sure, I feel bad for her, and I don’t want to see her hurt. But does she have to act like a 5-year-old? She’s going to get what she wants at the expense of…everyone else? I like Olive - she’s cute, and I love the way Kristin Chenoweth plays her. But they could certainly do away with the whole pretend love-triangle subplot and I’d be really happy. Ned is SO clearly into Chuck and not Olive that it just seems like a waste of time to focus on it.

I love that Ned and Chuck HAVE to be so honest about their feelings for one another. They can’t hide behind anything else because they can’t touch, can’t be physically intimate. It’s refreshing.

Thank you, lonely_tourist! I don’t dislike Olive, but I don’t watch the show to see her either. I had hoped the love triangle had ended last week in Pigeon. Maybe the writers need to keep her ambiguous (bad or good) so we doubt the soulmates a bit, keeping some tension in the narration. Emerson kind of plays a foil to Ned and Chuck’s super sweet characters, too. Guess if Olive were all cuteness, we might be in sugar shock from more than last night’s trick-or-treat leftovers. But, I don’t feel bad for her. It’s only fair that other characters can’t have what they want (besides the soulmates not being able to touch or the aunts losing their niece). My question is, what does Emerson really love/want, besides yarn and money?

  105. Asheson 01 Nov 2007 at 8:27 pm

I agree. Olive’s main character flaw is her childish jealousy of Chuck. If she loves Ned as much as she claims she does, she’d be glad to see him so happy. He’s obviously happier with Chuck than he’d ever been before.

  106. Kristynon 01 Nov 2007 at 9:36 pm

I forgot all about Chuck saying her dreams were more vivid, Lucille! That would make more sense than Ned cheating.

    Good thinking!

    >My question is, what does Emerson really love/want, besides yarn and money?

Ha! Great question, Susan. I’d be happy with a lot of yarn and/or a lot of money, myself. Speaking of Emerson, I love him more every episode. He’s hilarious. You’re right, though - any more sweetness might be hard to swallow, so maybe that’s why they make Olive the way she is. I wish they’d tone her down, though. Have her animosity or childishness focused on someone else for a while. That way, we’d still see her “dark” side but could avoid the ridiculousness of her coming between Ned and Chuck. Which won’t happen, I know, but still…

  108. Susanon 02 Nov 2007 at 1:34 am

“Speaking of Emerson, I love him more every episode. He’s hilarious.” Absolutely. I hope his knitting comes back in some future episode. Besides that, it would be nice to get more backstory on him… if Olive was a jockey, was Emerson a sheep farmer or alpaca breeder?? Hmmm.

Okay, to borrow from my other favorite show (sort of), I love so much about what this show chooses to be. It grabbed onto my heart in the pilot and never let go!

I enjoyed this episode much better than last week’s. So far, my favorite episodes have all been odd numbered. Weird, huh? Not a fan of Olive/Chenoweth, but she comes across better this episode. I enjoy the way they wrote her and Chuck’s interaction. She needs to lay her paws off of Ned, though. She’s having a hard time reading the writing on th wall. Hey, Olive, Ned’s just not that into you, girlfriend.

I like the show much better when the story revolves more around Ned, Chuck and Emerson with Olive remaining a secondary character.

Have you guys seen the latest Ned/Chuck video on youtube? It’s called “Do You Realize” by bedfordgirl. It is absolutely incredible!

  111. Susanon 04 Nov 2007 at 8:32 pm

Hey, so after finally being able to watch this online, I’ve now caught up on all the missed bits — and the aunts (or one of them, can’t remember who is who) definitely has some surpressed sexual energy ready to break out (if this were a different show, that is). Did anyone catch the line about them having a secret historical erotica collection? I think desire is being sublimated by cheese - and now pies. Chuck better watch her homeopathic mood stabilizer dosages or chaos might ensue.

  112. MJoon 09 May 2008 at 12:03 am

Is there any possible connection between Ned’s dad and aunt Lily??????
I’m asking because of the aunts reaction when Ned asked them
    I hope no :S

  113. MJoon 09 May 2008 at 1:55 am

    wait a minute….
how do Ned and Emerson knew that Chuck and Olive were at John Jacob house????
    Did they leave a note?

  114. MJoon 09 May 2008 at 1:56 am

LOVED the last part Chuck’s treat or trick
