PUSHING DAISIES Screening at Paley

Tomorrow is the BIG day.  At 1pm PST the final three episodes of PUSHING DAISIES will air for the first time…in the United States. The Paley screening sold out in under 20 minutes making it the fastest panel to sell out from the two week long festival.

DAISIES creator Bryan Fuller will be on hand to introduce the episodes.  Several writers will also be watching along in the audience.

As a special treat Jim Dooley will be leading a seven piece band who will be playing music starting at 12:15pm.

I’ll be there bright and early!  I can’t wait.  If you’re going I hope to see you tomorrow!

    Oh balls.

I was told by Paley, when I called to get tickets, that tickets to this even didn’t even get the chance to go on sale to the general public. All the tickets sold out to Paley members. What a buzz-kill.

However, I might mosey on by tomorrow just for giggles. And who knows? Maybe they’ll open it for SRO. *shrug* Don’t know unless you try, right?

  4. Jonnaon 19 Apr 2009 at 3:11 am

    Lucky duck! Have fun!

    Oh balls.

I was told by Paley, when I called to get tickets, that tickets to this even didn’t even get the chance to go on sale to the general public.

They got it wrong. It wasn’t sold out until they went on sale to the general public. I’m not a Paley member, and I got mine as soon as they went on sale to the public.

Going to bed earlier than I have in months.

  11. Katieon 19 Apr 2009 at 3:33 pm

    @Samuel:

I’ve seen the finale (in German) and I can tell you that three of those are right, but only one of them happens in Kerplunk. However, I don’t wanna spoil anything for you, so I’ll leave you to guess.

  12. Leonora619on 19 Apr 2009 at 9:48 pm

The absolutely most amazing event. We laughed. We cried. And some even won a prize. BTW Bryan gives the best bear hugs.

  13. anjelineon 19 Apr 2009 at 10:01 pm

    AHHH!!!!
    it was super amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i got a pic with Bryan Fuller & Ellen Greene!!!!

  14. Rory L. Aronskyon 19 Apr 2009 at 10:28 pm

It was a touching religious experience. I don’t think I’ve ever been this broken up about the end of a show, but I’m definitely buying the comic book when it comes out.

I met Barry Sonnenfeld, Chi McBride, Ellen Greene, the actress who played Emerson Cod’s girlfriend, a few of the writers, and came away with a thoroughly autographed 1st season DVD set. My sister was vocal enough when Chi was throwing t-shirts that he threw his last one to her, an extra-large shirt that said “Jews for Cheeses,” with a mouse in a yarmulke at the top of the Star of David, nibbling at it. We’re Jewish, so that was fine.

But I wanted that Pie Hole menu soooooooooooo badly. Lucky whoever won that in the raffle.

  15. Rory L. Aronskyon 19 Apr 2009 at 10:34 pm

Also, Katherine Lingenfelter, who wrote “Girth” and “Oh Oh Oh… It’s Magic” mentioned that they had been working on the comic book over the weekend, set to be released this fall, according to Bryan Fuller.

Did anyone get a green t-shirt? My sister wanted to know what it said and someone behind us got one, but she never asked.

  16. Leonora619on 19 Apr 2009 at 10:34 pm

OC Jenn sorry I missed your post. I’ve seen you at other Paley events and almost came up to you and said “Hey aren’t you OC Jenn from the Piemaker?”, but I thought that would be awkward. (I’ve clicked your name link before and that’s how I recognized you.) I was the first person in line. Wasn’t that so amazing! When the orchestra started playing I had to choke back the tears. I was a blubbering baby by the end of the last episode. I’m tearing up now just thinking about it.

  17. Rory L. Aronskyon 19 Apr 2009 at 10:36 pm

“I’m tearing up now just thinking about it.”

Same right now, and though it’s not more episodes, I also got to thinking how all this can be continued in the comic book. A lot of possibilities.

  18. Leonora619on 19 Apr 2009 at 10:46 pm

I know. It was just so unfair to cancel such an amazing show. I’m looking forward to the comic book, and to all the possibilities. But the best thing to come from watching PD is that I’ve become a bigger fan of the writers, the actors, and especially of Bryan Fuller. So, I will be watching Heroes tomorrow. Bryan gave me a “Jews for Cheeses” t-shirt too. I love it!

  19. Rory L. Aronskyon 19 Apr 2009 at 10:49 pm

I told Katherine Lingenfelter as well that when Bryan Fuller dies, his brain needs to be donated to science. But, by the time he gets old, he’ll probably figure out a way not to die. Katherine commented that the only working non-scientist that could probably figure that out is Bryan.

My sister, who’s not as big a fan of the show as I am (not that she doesn’t like it, but she’s been busy with school over the time it was on), was surprised when I told her she was wearing an official Pushing Daisies t-shirt. Long sleeves are not my thing, even in winter, but I’m happy that she has it. Plus, she loves cheese, so double bonus!

  20. OCJenn7on 19 Apr 2009 at 11:09 pm

That was totally amazing! I teared up at the end of “Kerplunk” as soon as I saw those sweeping visual effects I was lilke, oh no! :( Chi was hilarious! “We’ll be handing out pitch forks and torches in the lobby and headin’ over there to…oh i’m sorry… i mean we’ve got your plastic forks and glow sticks to go over to ABC and wag your finger at ‘em.” LOL

Bryan was absolutely wonderful! I told him how much I loved all his shows (true statement) and how they have such heart and humor and when I saw “Cold Snap” on “Heroes” that it brought a lot of that back to the show. He said he loved working on it with Ali Larter and then let slip something about Season 4. I don’t want to say on here and get him in trouble.

Lorena, was it you who had the nails with pictures of all the characters on them?

  21. Leonora619on 19 Apr 2009 at 11:48 pm

I just uploaded a short video of the orchestra playing the PD theme right before the show started. Sorry about the sound quality, but you get the idea. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_lu5XGFy-A4

  22. Reneeon 20 Apr 2009 at 3:05 pm

What an incredible following PD has! I just wish the networks would realize how dedicated we fans are and pick it up elsewhere. Here’s hoping the Dead Like Me film did/does well enough to carry over to a PD film. Bryan and the people he chooses to work with are such magnificent teams that it seems such a shame his series keep getting cancelled. *U_U* We’re all behind you, Bryan, cast and crew! All the way!

  23. Kimberon 20 Apr 2009 at 7:00 pm

Wow - thanks for all the stories from Paley, guys! And thanks Leonora619 for the vid! I wish I could have been there, but it just wasn’t possible, and I’m far away! Hopefully you guys all had an awesome time (sounds like you did!) and let the cast and crew (and Bryan!) who were there know how much we LOVED their show, and will never forget it.

  24. chenofanon 20 Apr 2009 at 7:13 pm

  26. Luisaon 21 Apr 2009 at 1:25 am

Oh you guys!! Wasn’t it amazing?? I actually couldn’t deal with the end of PD all day…in a total drift yesterday afternoon as well…I was so choked up at the end. Still choked up, actually. But I loved watching it on the big screen with all the other fans cheering, laughing, and awwing together–it was the best way to see it go. *Sigh* This is something I won’t get over for a while.

  27. Reneeon 21 Apr 2009 at 10:01 pm

I’m certain it’s nowhere NEAR as amazing as the experience Luisa describes, but I just finished up the episodes with the finale on YouTube.
Incredible doesn’t even begin to describe it. I heart is still pump-pumping!
There’s just GOT to be a movie!

  28. Pie Loveron 21 Apr 2009 at 11:17 pm

Same as Renee! That was amazing, but i’m THIRSTING for more! I really really really really really want a movie. I mean, as much as they covered there is so much more that needs to be tied togehter.
I know there’s the comic books and all which is GREAT, I will be buying those!!! DEFINITELY, but it’s just not the same with out Kristin, Lee, Chi, Anna, Ellen, Swoosie, and OUR beloved narrator Jim Dale! He’s one reason that the show is so amazing, I love his voice and silly sayings!

    *—————*
I’M GOING TO MISS PUSHING DASISIES AND WILL ALWAYS REMEBER THE JOY, ANTICIPATION, LAUGHS, FRUSTRATION, EAGERNESS, AND SMILE THAT THIS AMAZING SHOW HAS BROUGHT ME FOR 2 GREAT YEARS! :) love daisies :)

WE NEED TO GET PEOPLE WATCHING THE LAST 3 PD’s EPS. ITS OUR LAST CHANCE TO SAVE IT PEOPLE - OR WOULD YOU RATHER THE COMIC BOOK !! LEAVE COMMENTS ON WEBSITES TELL FRIENDS , SEND EMAILS , DO WHATEVER YOU CAN !! LAST CHANCE - AND I FOR 1 AMENT GOING TO LET THIS SHOW GET CANNCLED !!

EVEN IF IT IS FOR ‘ONE SPECIAL’ EVERY YEAR/ 5 OR 6 MONTHS ‘

  30. Pie Loveron 22 Apr 2009 at 5:27 pm

YAY! Pushing Daisies is back on the ABC website! They don’t have it on to watch past eps, but at least it has a site back, I don’t know how long it’s been back or whatever, but it makes me happy it’s back!

    http://abc.go.com/primetime/pushingdaisies/index?pn=index

  31. Reneeon 22 Apr 2009 at 7:07 pm

~Samuel, I posted my two cents on that article not an hour ago! *^_^* Let’s do this, Fans!!!
~Pie Lover, can you believe it! UGH! I smiled all day long at work today because those last images kept flashing into my mind!!! Thanks, too, for pointing out that ABC has the site back!
    *GLEE!!!!*

  32. Vickyon 23 Apr 2009 at 4:27 pm

How bizarre they would delete the website and then bring it back….but is it back for good or just whilst the last three are showing? Funny way to do things if you ask me. But then, it is ABC so we can’t expect much!

  33. Rory L. Aronskyon 24 Apr 2009 at 3:09 am

“WE NEED TO GET PEOPLE WATCHING THE LAST 3 PD’s EPS. ITS OUR LAST CHANCE TO SAVE IT PEOPLE - OR WOULD YOU RATHER THE COMIC BOOK !! LEAVE COMMENTS ON WEBSITES TELL FRIENDS , SEND EMAILS , DO WHATEVER YOU CAN !! LAST CHANCE - AND I FOR 1 AMENT GOING TO LET THIS SHOW GET CANNCLED !!”

I hate to say this, especially as a fan, but it’s over. A friend and fellow film critic went to a screening on the Warner Bros. lot and afterward visited the museum there. Costumes from Pushing Daisies are on display. I think that’s the final indication.

  34. Jakeon 24 Apr 2009 at 10:40 am

@samuel. 5 things in your guesses happen in the last three episodes.

  35. Chuck (kath)on 25 Apr 2009 at 8:25 pm

Samuel - I appreciate your enthusiasm but PUSHING DAISIES the TV show is 100% over with zero chance of renewal on ABC. This isn’t speculation, it’s fact.

  36. Samuelon 26 Apr 2009 at 5:06 am

Would they ever do Audio Adventures with the cast ? or even a special every year …. !?

  37. Samuelon 26 Apr 2009 at 5:07 am

If anyone ever sees Bryan Fuller please ask if these are possibilitys - mabye he’s just not thought of them.

  38. Leonora619on 26 Apr 2009 at 4:01 pm

Samuel- “I wish I could give you an emotional heimlich so you could cough up that fear and anxiety, but I can’t.” Ned said it best, but I feel the same. Enjoy the last three episodes, look forward to the comic book, and a slice of pie can’t hurt. In fact I think I’ll have a slice too.

  39. Chewon 27 Apr 2009 at 4:22 am

Is there a way of knowing whether anyone from Pushing Daisies will be at Comic-Con? I mean, they are going to publish the 12-issue series, right? Even just Brian Fuller would be amazing because he’s such a genius.

  40. *Daisypusher*o9on 27 Apr 2009 at 2:30 pm

    I agree with Samuel!!

We can’t give up!! Take Star Trek for example! - there are many people who dislike the show very much and think it is nerdy! but because it has such a loyal following they’ve brought it back and on the BIG screen too!! who says the same cannot be done for “Daisies”? Nothing’s impossible!

    x Never Give Up ! x

  41. Samuelon 27 Apr 2009 at 2:54 pm

    Thanks *Daisypusher*09 !!

Lets let Ned touch this programme alive again (and for more than a minute !)

  42. Reneeon 27 Apr 2009 at 7:20 pm

Yea! Let something else die! Say, one of those horrid reality shows, for example?

  43. Rory L. Aronskyon 28 Apr 2009 at 1:38 am

    “Nothing’s impossible!”

It is when television executives in Hollywood have deemed it dead, with no chance of resurrection. That’s the ironic reality of Hollywood.

  44. Leonora619on 28 Apr 2009 at 3:51 am

I like Chew’s suggestion for a panel at Comic Con to promote the comic book. Since I’m sure Bryan will be there for the Heroes panel that happens every year. It would be great to see and hear from Bryan and the writers again.

  45. Samuelon 29 Apr 2009 at 2:58 pm

Come On … I Have Always suggested this - What about a Special every year !?

    Samuel

  46. Samuelon 02 May 2009 at 7:09 am

I am wondering now wither Olive , The Aunts and Emerson will be in the comic book series - and if so will Olive work at the cow place and will Penny be in the story’s or won’t it be that far in the story yet !?

  47. *Daisypusher*o9on 02 May 2009 at 8:23 am

Yet again i agree with you Samuel! It seems only a few of us are not gonna give up without a fight!!

I have suggested this before, but is it possible that a British Network could take on the show? After all, ITV1 were kind enough to show the last three episodes although they had been canceled in America. And it wouldn’t hurt to ask… if you wish to try like i will then here is the link to the ITV1 website:

http://www.itv.com/ (this will take you to the home page of the website)

http://www.itv.com/Drama/contemporary/PushingDaisies/Episodeguide/default.html (this will take you to the Pushing Daisies page of the website)

Oh and another thing… i also agree that an annual special would be great too… a slice of “Daisies” annually is better than no “Daisies” at all!!!!

  48. Leonora619on 02 May 2009 at 1:22 pm

Given the present Swine Flu epidemic, Saran Wrap kisses, gloves year round, spooning contraptions, and car interior plastic dividers with optional Prophylaxis hand holding cavity would not seem out of place… but poor poor Pigby no trips to Egypt for you.

  49. Pie Loveron 02 May 2009 at 3:59 pm

Haha, that’s so true Leonora619! That’s why Pushing Daisies just needs to continue on, I loved those weird romantic parts to Pushing Daisies, but now they wouldn’t be weird at all.

Well, Actually seeing a couple kissing through plastic wrap at the store would be a little awkward, but the rest of that stuff could be normal at times like this!
    -Missing Daisies:(

  50. SAVEdaisies!on 04 May 2009 at 5:56 am

OMG LOVE THIS SHOW SOOO MUCH THEY MUST MAKE A MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  51. *Daisypusher*o9on 04 May 2009 at 5:59 am

I think an annual special of “Daisies” would be awesome!! a yearly episode of “Daisies” is soo much better than no “Daisies” at all!!

  52. *Daisypusher*o9on 04 May 2009 at 6:02 am

i have suggested this before but is there any hope that a British network could take on the show? after all, ITV 1 were kind enough to show the last 3 episodes although they knew it had been cancelled? It’s worth a try asking them. they’re website is:

    http://www.itv.com

  53. ericon 04 May 2009 at 6:28 am

Just watched the finale. The monologue written in the end was near brilliant, considering the restraints on Fuller and co. I almost wanted to cry…and I will never openly admit that if this wasn’t the internet. I will miss this show dearly.

  54. Reneeon 04 May 2009 at 8:47 am

Oh, Eric, it’s okay to cry. *~_^* We all did/will when we saw/see it!

  57. *Daisypusher*o9on 09 May 2009 at 7:10 am

I sent an e-mail to ITV asking them to consider picking up the show and this was their reply:

Your comments and suggestions have been forwarded to all relevant departments for their consideration.

Thank you for taking the time to contact us

They aren’t going to listen to just one person, so if everyone on this site could give it a go and try asking ITV if they’ll pick up this AMAZING show then we might be in with a chance if getting it back to life!!

    e-mail to viewerservices@itv.com

PLEASE PEOPLE! DONT GIVE UP!! HERE’S A CHANCE!! LETS TAKE IT!!

  64. Pie Loveron 12 May 2009 at 7:09 pm

    IT’S MY BIRTHDAY!!!
My parents bought me season 2 of PUSHING DAISIES!!!! (well pre-ordered, YAYA!, technically I already pre-ordered it but they’re going to pay for it!)

I love birthdays! Especially Pushing Daisies ones!

  65. Pie Loveron 13 May 2009 at 7:17 pm

Things have been kind of dull here!! WHAT’S NEW PEOPLES???
Has anyone seen any new GOOD shows, like Pushing Daisies lately?

I’m thinking maybe I’ll give “GLEE” a try, but after watching Pushing Daisies I know I will never find an AMAZING TV show again that could match up to Daisies! :(

  66. Rory L. Aronskyon 20 May 2009 at 1:32 am

I Tivo’d Glee and I’ll watch it later, but I’ve read what the networks have announced as their new shows for the fall season and there’s nothing I’m really enthusiastic about. I’ll give ABC a chance (I know I probably shouldn’t because of the crime of cancelling “Pushing Daisies”) on their sitcom block that includes shows starring Neil Flynn (the janitor from “Scrubs”), a new multi-camera sitcom with Kelsey Grammer as a CEO who suddenly loses his job, and Bill Lawrence’s “Cougar Town,” but that’s all that the time I think I could give.

There’s nothing I really feel compelled to see as it was with “Pushing Daisies.”

  67. leonora619on 20 May 2009 at 2:29 am

I won’t be back to ABC until 2010 for LOST. Watched Glee, and I’m in love again, which means it will probably be canceled. :-(
