PUSHING DAISIES Season Finale?
TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello is reporting that PUSHING DAISIES creator Bryan Fuller informed him that “the show’s ninth episode — the last one for which a script is written — can function as a season finale in the event the strike extends into the new year and beyond.”
“As we were scrambling to rewrite [Episode 9],” he reveals, “we added several elements that will put many balls into the air and hopefully encourage the audience to come back and see how they land.”
Fuller confirms that production on the potential season finale got under way today, which means “our crew will now be able to work through Thanksgiving.”
Good news of course for the cast and crew but sad news to think that this amazing show might only see nine of its intended 22 episodes during its first season.

This can’t happen I mean I of course support the strike but nine episodes isn’t enough. That is WAY TOO SHORT. They need to compleate at least half of the promised 22.
Well let’s look at this with the glass half full or the pie half eaten, sorry. Anyway, if the season does end at epidsode #9 , this will guarantee that we will have a season 2 and maybe some episodes over the summer. TV season are more unconventional than ever, just look at FX(Nip/Tuck. etc.) So all is not lost you guys. I personally think this thing will be over in a few days. The thought of NO OSCARS will shake the industry to the core. It will get worked out. In pie we trust.
Oh my! I love this show, but I support the strike. So now I can’t do nothing else but hope in a second season of this lovely show!
I agree, nine episodes aren’t enough, but, hey, better nine than nothing!
I appreciate the resourcefulness of Bryan Fuller to tweak things to try to satisfy a season and therefore the audience. This show’s absence will be disappointing. I will miss its delightful cleverness. It is a fantastic show–a total breath of fresh air in the television lineup. Hopefully, the industry will get to the negotiation table and resolve this issue with WGA by giving them what rightfully belongs to them. If there is advertising revenue, there needs to be residuals for these individuals. They have waited long enough for this. In the the immortal words of Billy Jean, “Fair is Fair” (although that film is totally convoluted and not the best correlation for this situation..at all..sorry.)
While I wholeheartedly support the writers in their quest, I’m sad think of a 9-episode season for Pushing Daisies. I was very much looking forward to a full 22 episodes of wonder. However, if we only get these 9 episodes, I’m glad that Bryan Fuller has thought ahead to tweak the episode so that it ties up some loose threads, and also leaves a few “balls in the air”. I trust him completely, and so whatever he comes up with, I’m sure it will be amazing. And then we’ll have a hopefully full (if not overstuffed!) second season of this show to look forward to next fall!
Totally off topic here , but here goes….Does anyone know when itunes will have PD available to purchase at the istore. I see that they have such dumb shows as Sunset Tan for download , i’m wondering why no PD?? If anyone knows where I can download episodes onto my ipod , I would be grateful. Thank you.
I know what you mean I have been checking the iTunes store daily and they still have nothing about pushing daisies. I also think abc should make a Pushing Daisies podcast. They have one for Ugly Betty so they could easily do one for PD. However I don’t know where you can download. Sorry
OK it has been over a week since I was told that the new pictures would be up. Please put them up, they are amazing. However if you still need more time for the enlarging I understand Just please give us an estimate time.
THANKS
I’m sad to think that we may only get a taste of PD due to the writer’s strike, but I’m hoping they’ll reair the episodes seen thus far so that I can continue to encourage family and friends who haven’t tuned in yet to give PD a try. (I’m hoping the fan base will expand with reruns when other shows aren’t producing new episodes either.)
Regardless, I’ll be ready to tune in when the strike is over!
Well, this is not good news. I wish the writers and whoever they’re having problems with could just iron it all out, so we could have our Pushing Daisies. Only nine episodes makes me sad. But if it does end up being only nine until next fall (long, long, looong time from now), it was fun while it lasted.
It’s too bad, while I fully support the Writer’s Guild of America, I am disappointed that so many shows had to suffer an abrupt season finale end (Bionic Woman, The Simpsons, and Pushing Daisies). I am still waiting for those greedy, money mongrel network owners to JUST PAY THE WRITERS MORE MONEY! That’s all they want, plus some more recognition and benefits. If they just met the Writer’s needs, things like this wouldn’t happen.
