PUSHING DAISIES Season is Most Likely Pushing Daisies

Published by The Pie Maker at 9:47 pm under Bryan Fuller, Pushing Daisies News

Ned, Pushing Daisies, hannahkarinaRumors have been swirling over the past few days about the possible end of the WGA strike in the near future. If these rumors prove to be true it’s going to be great news for TV viewers as some of our favorite shows will be back in production soon. Sadly, it looks like that may not be the case for PUSHING DAISIES.

E!’s Kristin Dos Santos talked to PUSHING DAISIES creator Bryan Fuller earlier today about the chances of seeing new episodes of our favorite new show after the strike, and the outlook is gloomy.

Bryan Fuller, Pushing Daisies“Essentially, even if the strike is resolved in the next week or two, we wouldn’t be back until next season. There was a preliminary conversation that involved a plan to hit the ground running and try to get episodes on the air as soon as possible, but it no longer seems like that’s going to happen. It seems most likely that we will have a very short first season and then come back in the fall for a proper season two.”

I’m going to choose to look for the silver lining on this one. With a shortened first season, Fuller and team will hopefully have plenty of time to work on a bonus feature filled Season One DVD. And with only nine episodes to watch, newbies will have an easy time catching up with Ned, Chuck and the gang before Season 2 begins.

Guess I have something to look forward to in the fall, though I don’t want to wait. :(

But I have to wonder… is ABC going to go ahead and give PD that second season?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! After all this writer’s strike stuff is over, I was really looking forward for Pushing Daisies to return! :’( Probaby more than any other show….

This worries me. I feel that if they wait until season 2 to start again people are going to loose interest and not watch the show. Lets hope that doesn’t happen!!

There is no reason to worry about the show going off until Fall. I think that you will find most shows will follow the same model if and when the Strike is resolved.

Daisies is a little more intensive on the FX and visual design so the show needs a little more prep time than a straight comedy or drama and that’s why they can’t squeeze out a couple episodes in a timely fashion.

I would much rather Fuller and Co. take their time with excellent storylines and continued visual brilliance than rush a couple episodes together just to air them because they can and because we want them now!

This gives ABC the chance to build up the audience again through repeats and DVD’s prior to Season 2. Only good things can come from that.

I just hope that they get that season one DVD out ASAP cause I’ve been looking forward to THAT. I think if I had that with maybe a couple interviews or a commentary or two, I’d be okay with waiting. I’m just happy that it’s still looking good for next season.

I do have to wonder though if ABC will go ahead and place the second season order. I know in all likelihood they probably will since PD did get strong ratings (though episode 9 only got 6.91 viewers total, versus the 10.18 from episode 8) down that they could cancel it because we would forget all the details of PD, unless they make a recap episode, like ABC does with some of their other shows.

This is GOOD news! Think about it!

If PD were to come back in April/May with just a few episodes, ABC wouldn’t want to waste money promoting it again.

But, now that its guaranteed to come back for s2, ABC promote all fall shows, so look for PD to get almost a relaunch & pick up new fans.

This is the BEST news we could want.

TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW ABOUT THE SHOW BEFORE SEASON 2!!

    2 Points:
    1) In response to “X’s” question, yes, i am 99.99% sure that ABC did pick them up for a second season, but anyone can correct me.

2)On subject…At first I was upset, but when i thought about it i agree with “Ned (dan)” completely. Let the genius of Bryan Fuller explode into more creative episodes (if that is possible), so that makes the competition, push up daisies (I’m sorry, that was really bad!)

I agree with the opinion that ABC would be idiots not to continue the show in the fall. It’s an amazing show, and it was just starting to pick up a following. If the ratings were a little low on the final episode, consider the timing. It was right in the midst of the holiday season. I can’t wait for Season 1 on DVD and as much as I hate to have to wait until Fall, if it means better quality shows, I’ll make the sacrifice.

I’m disappointed, but not surprised. It takes time to craft these shows, and I’m willing to wait for the excellent storytelling of PD.

Meanwhile, if you haven’t already, pre-order Season One. I did already on Amazon.com. It might help bolster things with the network to know how many are already buying the DVD’s before they are even in the stores.

  12. […] what’s the latest with PUSHING DAISIES? Bryan Fuller has already confirmed that PUSHING DAISIES won’t be back with more new episodes this season. But based on what Fuller shared with E! News yesterday, it seems that the writers on the show […]
