Pushing Daisies Spoilers: Season 2

Published by Chuck (Kath)

Now that we are gearing up for the second season of PUSHING DAISIES we are finally going to have a spoilers page. We went back and fortah on this for a while but finally decided that everyone wants to see what our Pie Hole pals are up to so we’ve created a space for all the spoilers floating out there on the web.

Please read ThePieMaker.com Spoiler Policy before continuing.

*Spoilers listed on this page are culled from various sources and not verified by the creators or writers of Pushing Daisies.

November 5th - EW’s Ausiello Files

  • Here’s a scoop about what could (but hopefully won’t) be the final Daisies episode ever: Wendy Malick and Nora Dunn have been cast as the Darling Mermaid Darlings’ rivals from back in the day.
  • Question: I’m hearing that Ned in Pushing Daisies will temporarily lose his “touch” in an upcoming episode. Is it true? Any info about how this would affect his untouchable love story with Chuck? Maybe we’ll get the chance to see a real kiss? — Valeria
Ausiello: Sounds like a question for series creator Bryan Fuller!

“Hello, Valeria! Ned doesn’t so much as lose his ‘touch’ as decides not to use it for various dramatic reasons. So no change in the rules for his touching or not touching Chuck. But what’s wrong with a prophylactic kiss? You can’t say we’re not doing our part at Daisies to teach birth control! Best, Bryan.”

October 30th - E!’s Watch With Kristin

October 29th - EW’s Ausiello Files

  • George Segal and Richard Benjamin have been cast as Olive’s childhood kidnappers. Since she has such fond memories of her abduction, when they escape from prison, they naturally go to her for help to get away. (Think of the eppy as sort of an unofficial Savannah Smiles sequel.) But wait, there’s more: Firefly badass Gina Torres has signed up to play Emerson’s ex-wife.
  • Question: Has Pushing Daisies ended the storyline with Paul Reubens? I was a little confused from where they left off last season to where they started this season. Did Chuck reveal her secret to him? Will Pee-wee be back for another adventure? — Chris
Ausiello: “Ended” is the wrong word. Maybe “delayed” is more like it. “I love Paul Reubens, and I love the character Oscar Vibenius,” EP Bryan Fuller tells me. “And I encourage you to write ABC and tell them how much you love him, too. We’ve tried a couple of times this season to bring Paul back and always ended up having to push the story off for various reasons. Right now Oscar is off in the wilds of olfactory science trying to decipher the mysterious scent he discovered specific to Chuck, and if/when he returns, he’ll have a lot to say on the matter.” See what I mean? “Ended” was totally the wrong word.

  • Warner Brothers Studios and executive producer Bryan Fuller confirm to me exclusively that Josh Randall—who played Ed’s BFF Mike on Ed and Nathan on Lost (the tailie who was offed by Goodwin)—will play the long-awaited role of Chuck’s father, Charles Charles, on ABC’s fantastic dramedy Pushing Daisies. (Keep reading for an exclusive sneak peek of his “invisible” new look on the show.)I’m told Josh first appears in episodes eight and nine, “Comfort Food” and “Lighthouse,” and that he may very well return for more episodes after that.Meanwhile, as you may remember, Ned’s (Lee Pace) power accidentally killed Chuck’s (Anna Friel) dad many years ago, so what the bejeezus is he doing back on the show?

According to sources, Ned undeads Charles to help Chuck solve some mysteries from her past, but Chuck doesn’t want just one measley minute with her late father, so she just might step in the way of Chuck redeading daddy dearest.

Now, alive though he will be, Chuck’s dad has been mouldering in the grave ever since the fine print of Ned’s power killed him. As such, what with the 20-plus years of decay under his belt, Charles Charles’ looks aren’t what they used to be. I’m told the character starts off bandaged up like a mummy—an homage to the Invisible Man (see photo above)—but once the wrap is removed, Josh Randall will appear!

September 8th - Watch With Kristin

  • Q: Michael in Boston: Can you share anything about Pushing Daisies this season?
    A:
You would think that the upcoming return of Charles Charles (Chuck’s dad) to Coeur d’Coeur might solve the problem of Ned having supposedly offed Chuck’s dad, but on the contrary, I’m told the circumstances of his return will probably cause the greatest rift we’ve ever seen between the Ned and Chuck. Poopie!

August 25th - “Circus Circus” Photo
We’ve got your first look at Lee Pace, Anna Friel and Chi McBride in action.

July 26th - PUSHING DAISIES Comic Con Panel

  • In the first few episodes the gang will visit a nunnery, a bee factory, a circus, a dim sum restaurant among other places and that kind of trend continues. “Every episodes we go to a new world and get a new adventures.” said Fuller.
  • In the nunnery, we will meet Pigby, Olive’s new pig friend. And while at the nunnery we get to hear Olive sing! No word on whether or not Pigby joins her in song.
  • There will be a few new faces this season including guest star David Arquette who is joining the cast in a recurring role as Randy Mann, Ned’s new friend (check back to thepiemaker.com as we’ll have more on this character from our conversations with Bryan Fuller)
  • Season 2 will deal with a lot of family issues. In addition to meeting Ned’s half brothers (who Lee Pace told ThePieMaker.com are being cast based in part on their eyebrows…ha), we will meet Dwight Dixon around episode 5. Dwight has a shared history with Ned and Chuck’s father. We’ll also be meeting Emerson Cod’s mother played by the fantastic Debra Mooney.
  • Fans of WONDERFALL will have two familiar faces on PUSHING DAISIES this season. Diana Scarwid , who played Karen Tyler on Wonderfalls will be joining DAISIES for the first few episodes of the season. And Mary Ann Marie Beetle (played by Beth Grant), who appeared in the “Muffin Buffalo” episode of WONDERFALLS will be visiting PUSHING DAISIES. (We know why she’s there but we don’t know if we are privvy to spill it so we’ll find out and get back to you.)
  • Bryan Fuller wasn’t the only one sharing the secrets, star Lee Pace hesitated a bit wondering what he could spill but then just said: “Yeah, I’m just going to say some stuff” and told us that the aunts come to The Pie Hole which causes a lot of trouble for Ned. He also told us that Chuck moves out. She moves in with Olive and there is a bit of a cat fight. Lee said the he likes playing Ned when he’s fighting to get the girl, and fighting to get Chuck back.
  • On the aunts leaving the confines of their home, Swoosie Kurtz said, “I never thought we’d leave the sofa. There are a lot of surprises in season 2. I find myself at the nunnery with Olive and Pigby.”
  • Although we know Young Chuck and Young Ned rather well, this year we’re going to meet Young Emerson and Young Olive, who Kristin Chenoweth told ThePieMaker.com is “the cutest little thing”.
  • As for the budding romance between Olive Snook and Alfredo Aldarisio? That’s going to be put on hold as Raul Esparaza has just been cast in David Mamet’s “Spped the Plow” opposite Jeremy Piven. Bryan said they would love to have him back but they have to wait until he becomes available again.
  • Although names haven’t been named, some of Kristin Chenoweth’s Broadway friends will be making appearances on PUSHING DAISIES this season.
  • Continuing on the ‘family’ theme of season 2, there will be movement on the storyline established near the end of the first season about Emerson Cod and his daughter. Emerson wants to publish a pop-up book called “Lil Gumshoe” which is a how to guide for his daughter to find him.
  • Pay special attention to the first episode of the season as it’s filled with clues. Fuller said it’s a word map for the entire season.
  • Ned and Chuck will find new ways to “get cozy” this season. Bryan said they are working on all kinds of “contraptions”. He said we’ll see some affection with gloves, and also learn that Digby’s petting device isn’t just for Digby. And there was also talk of a plastic divider that will let Ned and Chuck spoon. Awww.

  • Star Lee Pace talks about a possible Ned and Chuck Season 2 split.
Q: Will Ned and Chuck start seeing other people in season two?
A: Maybe. One of the big things that happens at the beginning of the second season is that Chuck moves out. So it’s not going to be easy anymore for Ned. It’s good. They need to see other people.

  15. erinon 22 Jan 2009 at 3:38 am

this show cannot be cancelled! It’s so original and unique! I don’t want it to end. After only 2 seasons? Not even a full 2seasons! Not fair at all!!!

    hay Fans!

(sorry for the following bad english, I’m 14 years old and from Germany)

First, I have to say Thank you to the Designers of Thepiemaker.com and the wonderful Crew and Bryan Fuller!
I really love this show and the actors and actresses.
But I don’t like the “ending”.

and I have to say, that I don’t agree sarah and stephanie, because I don’t think, that they’re boring.
I like Chuck and Ned, because they’re so Fearless and with some exeptions unworried (is this right???).

so, nice greetings from Germany =)

    yours Vivien
