PUSHING DAISIES Sweeps Spoilers

Pushing Daisies: Girth (4)The newest issue of TVGuide Magazine is dedicated to November Sweeps Spoilers so I had to quick jump on and tell all of you what they have to say about our favorite show, PUSHING DAISIES.

In an effort to grow its audience, Daisies will be pushing up surreal plot twists in sweeps. The horror movie-esque Halloween episode (“Girth”), airing October 31st, delves into the backstory of pie-shop waitress Olive (Kristin Chenoweth) and her previous incarnation as, of all thingss, a horse jockey.

“Someone’s killing people from her past,” says creator Bryan Fuller,”and she’s on the list.”

In another episode, pie baker/life restorer Ned (Lee Pace) discovers that one of hte dead guys he wakes up was killed by on of his four wives, who are all dog breeders. The case resonates with Ned and the childhood sweetheart he resurrected from the dead, Chuck (Anna Friel), who can never touch again. Teases Fuller, “Will they be forced to be polygamous because of the circumstances in their relationship?”

Paul Reubens pops up on November 14th as “an olfactory expert who smells something very different about Chuck,” Fuller says. “He’ll be our version of the nosy reporter.”

SNL vet Molly Shannon appears in a later episode as a woman who opens a saltwater taffy store across from Ned’s pie shop. Expect a War of the Roses style rivalry to develop between the two as they try to put each other out of business.

Ooh, neato! I’m looking forward to our now-FULL season of zany episodes and whacky plots! Bring them on! :)

OMG I love Molly Shannon - and her guest starring roles around primetime tv are to die for, can’t wait to see what they’ll do with her - all I know is that Molly + Pushing Daisies can only equal goodness!

“Forced to be polygamous”? Really? Are we supposed to buy that, even for a second? They’ve spent a lot of time to show us - very convincingly, I might add - that Ned and Chuck are soul mates, ready to walk through the fire swamp together, etc. etc. etc. And we’re supposed to believe that they’re going to resort to being with other people just because they can’t touch in a conventional way? That their primal need to get it on will trump their True Love? I don’t believe that. Maybe Bryan Fuller is teasing. But part of the reason their story is so sweet and wonderful is because there is none of that overused, trite, do-they-really-love-each-other-enough crap that other shows think is fun.

So I don’t believe it. I don’t want to see it, but I really don’t believe we will. Yuck. Yuck yuck.
