PUSHING DAISIES Video: Birdhouse In Your Soul
Ned (dan.) here and I just finished watching this past week’s episode of PUSHING DAISIES entitled “Pigeon”. Imagine my surprise when one of my favorite songs is referenced in the dialogue, then imagine my delight when Olive and Aunt Vivian break into before mentioned favorite song.
They Might Be Giants “Birdhouse In Your Soul” is such an important part of my early musical development so this video makes me happy.
Watch Pushing Daisies stars Kristin Chenoweth and Ellen Greene sing “Birdhouse In Your Soul”
*Imagine Ned (dan.) boucing around with the biggest smile on his face and that was me watching this moment during the episode
Watch the original They Might Be Giants version of “Birdhouse In Your Soul” and I expect all of you to know the dance by heart this afternoon. There will be a test.

YES NED (Dan)!!! Thank you so much for saying who did that song! That has been bugging me for days! I saw the Giants in concert in HS! Ah, memories! :: gets out Giant’s CD ::
LOVED this ep! TMBG’s song, the girl from heroes and bedazzled one winged pigeon. Plus more boobies than you can shake a stick at. This is the best show in a long time.
This was my favorite part!! I Love TMBG.
Thanks for the link to the vid, Ned! That was very, very cute when Olive and Aunt Vivian sang in the car, with Aunt Lily and Digby looking unimpressed in the front seat! I had never heard the song before, so I had no idea it was a *real* song, and figured it had been written for the show. Thanks for clearing that up for me!
TMBG was one of my favorite bands in high school — glad there are other people out there who remember them! For anyone new to the band, check out their albums “Lincoln” and “Flood”. I saw them live in Washington DC a couple yrs ago and wasn’t impressed with their newer stuff…
Can’t wait to see what references are made next week. The Jedi sword fight moment in “Funeral” was equally awesome to TMBG.
Thanks for linking to that! I really loved that bit.
btw, who was really happy to see Mays again, after she got turned evil on Ugly Betty (where, coincidentally, she goes by a male name derived from Charles, much like PD’s Chuck)?
XD
Jayma Mays is always welcomed on my television. She’s a ray of sunshine on screen!
Wow I was already in luv with pushing daisies, but hearing one of TMBG’s songs I flipped!
Love the musical numbers! KEEP EM COMING!!!
Thank you, thank you….
