The Pie Hole Hits the Open Road (UPDATED)

Published by The Pie Maker at 10:54 am under Pushing Daisies News

Pushing Daisies “Pie Hole” Mobile

Looking for the best tasting pie this side of Coeur d’Coeurs? Well look no further than The Pie Hole. But if your summer travels didn’t include a stop at the famous Pie-ery,  no worries because the pie just might be coming to you…if you’re lucky.

Later today ABC is expected to unveil details of cross-country promotional tour designed to give current and potential PUSHING DAISIES fans a hands-on experience. An Airstream trailer resembling The Pie Hole will be hitting the open road and allowing visitors to sample free pie, interact with an upbeat restaurant staff (sadly not Ned, Chuck or Olive), check out props from the series and watch footage from the show on plasma TV sets.

The Pie Hole staff will hand out “Daisies”-branded trinkets, including spatulas, pie cutters and magnets. (Hopefully we can get our hands on some of these to give away). Waitresses riding on daisy bicycles will direct audiences to the site of the faux Pie Hole as part of what ABC is calling “The Touch of Wonder Tour. ”

ABC will let viewers keep track of the Pie Hole’s journeys via a newly-launched website, PushingDaisiesTour.com. And of course if The Pie Hole comes to your city, we hope that you will share you experience with ThePieMaker.com

  6. Caseron 27 Aug 2008 at 1:16 pm

WOO!!!! I’ll be going to the Philly one! I’m not too far away (and even if I was I’d still go (: )

  7. rockerbabyfi12on 27 Aug 2008 at 2:46 pm

    Rawr!
I live right outside NYC and would be able to go to the Times Square one if it was one a weekend!
I go to school upstate and obviously would miss class if I went to that on a Monday.
Worth it to me…not so worth it to my mom who would start a whole to do about it.

  8. PMKoalon 27 Aug 2008 at 2:50 pm

Awesome, I live 5 mins away from Disneyland. Will definitely be attending the DTDisney one.

UPDATE on the Anaheim/Downtown Disney event on the 31st:

Disneyland is having their “Half-Marathon” that date, and all offramps/roads to the park and DD will be closed until 10AM.

I’ve also been told that the trailer will be in the “Family Reunion” area after the race and only accessible to the runners and their families.

  27. Sara Pon 31 Aug 2008 at 8:20 pm

Gah! I go to school like 10 minutes away from Liberty Place.

…Oh, well, I guess I’ll just have to skip my last class.

Pssht! Again, Canada gets no love whatsoever. Oh well. I’m crossing my fingers (and toes!) for my favourite Pie Holers to get some of the fabulous shwag, and photos - and at least I can feel like I was there!

My husband and I took our daughters to Downtown Disney today for the Pie Tour. (My daughters and I are huge fans of the show and it was one of my daughter’s 15th birthday!)

The trailer was in the parking lot at Downtown Disney and was available for people to visit after Disney’s Half Marathon. The venue was very crowded, but there was plenty of pie. The staff members were very upbeat and nice and gave everyone who came up to them a mini-pie. I asked for extra pie for my in-laws, who we were meeting for brunch, and they were really nice about giving us extras.

There was no opportunity to “check out props from the series and watch footage from the show on plasma TV sets.” The trailer was also a lot smaller than it appears on the web site.

As far as swag, we were only offered large magnets that have the Fall Promo Poster on them. They were nice, but I was hoping for a spatula or a pie cutter.

There was almost no line, so I would say that we spent about five minutes looking at the trailer and picking up pie.

By the way, we received two varieties of pie, cherry and apple. I haven’t eaten my pie yet (it’s in a plastic container) but my daughter said that the cherry pie was very good.

  31. […] received a ton of emails wanting to know more about The Pushing Daisies Tour so we thought we’d post some fan reactions and pictures to the mobile tour as it heads across […]

Anyone know where the Lincoln Park Grove 5 is in Chicago??? I have no idea and can’t find it anywhere! Help please from any Lincoln Park people!!!! THANKS!!!

  35. KimLon 08 Sep 2008 at 1:45 am

Pretty disappointing… we were in the car for about 2 hours today and arrived at Ghirardelli Square (San Fran) to find that the Pie Hole had already closed shop. I guess everything had already been given away, even though they were supposed to be there for 3 more hours. Very frustrating, I was so excited for trivia and PD freebies, especially after being stuck in traffic and dealing with city parking. Grr arg! So if you are attending future events, get there early!

  36. karyn g and sam con 08 Sep 2008 at 8:41 pm

Will totally be at the Santa Monica location. I accidentally ran into the mobile pie hole at the Ghiradelli Chocolate festival, but by the time I got there, you had run out of pies. =( Glad to see I didn’t miss my last chance! I’m even willing to brave the LA traffic! Cheers!

I went to the Las Vegas tour stop at about 1:00 in the afternoon, only about two hours after it supposedly opened.

And it appeared they were already tearing things down. All it was was a trailer and two bikes out front with a few banners.

Very disappointing. The guys inside the trailer didn’t seem that friendly, either.

All I got was a picture with my camera phone.

  38. courtneyon 24 Sep 2008 at 11:02 am

Grove 5 in Chicago is 2045 N Lincoln Park W… I called, they said limited parking. I am so excited! My friend went in Cali and got some cool items, and had fun.

  39. gavson 24 Sep 2008 at 7:35 pm

I went to the Chicago one today and it was fun. With some prodding they brought out the spatulas and pie cutters in advance. Unfortunately, my box somehow fell out of my bag on the way home and I do not have either anymore. Pretty bummed about it.

I had a peach pie and I got lots of magnets so it was a fun experience!

Хм… А по-моему мнению, что минусы прилично превосходят плюсы.
