I’ve always wanted to meet Anne Frank. (Man, is it October yet?)

  2. Rinion 12 Sep 2008 at 12:51 am

George Mason from Dead Like Me. Could you imagine the shenanigans and chaos that’ll occur? I think it would be so fun!

  3. Rinion 12 Sep 2008 at 12:52 am

oh whoops, I meant to say George Lass! Somehow I got that confused, but bringing back Mason back would be cool too.

  4. Ericaon 12 Sep 2008 at 1:01 am

I would have to say Heath Ledger. It’s a tragedy what happened to him especially after his awesome performance in the Dark Knight. I don’t think his young daughter deserves to grow up without her father.

  5. Alexandraon 12 Sep 2008 at 1:09 am

    It’s a really hard question.

I’ll get personal because there are no other people I’d really like to talk to.

My uncle passed away when I was 12. He was playing basketball one night and his heart just stopped. He was like a second father to me. Sometimes, I saw him more often than my actual father (because he worked a lot). But some of the best childhood memories have him in it.

Anyway, he left behind two young sons and a teenage daughter (my cousins). They, along with my aunt went through some really hard times in the years following his death. She is now remarried, but there’s still a lot of tension between her and her kids. They resent her for a lot of the actions she committed after he died.

I would ask him if he could please talk to his children and let them know how much he loved him, and help them forgive their mother. Then I’d let him know how much his death affected the entire family.

I would like to see Abe Vigoda brought back to life. I loved him as Fish in “Barney Miller”

Oh wait he’s still alive: http://www.abevigoda.com/

  7. roxas0027on 12 Sep 2008 at 2:50 am

My choice of person to bring back would be Alfred Hitchcock. He is the master of suspense as we know it and the father of the twist ending. No one will ever be able to touch on his level of logic and his ability to see the end of the road when we never see it coming!

  8. The Pie Maker in Trainingon 12 Sep 2008 at 3:23 am

Well I’ve been debating between guys like John Wayne, or Lee Marvin, or (on a random note) Keith Moon. Oh, maybe Reagan and Lincoln and have them fight to Ned’s touch. But I’d have to say I’d want the greatest novelist ever back, James Joyce. A man of pure genius (well, a little less tha Wilde, who is awesome, maybe equally my favorite writer with Joyce) who would be great to just hang out with and talk and do whatever. If you have not read Joyce, go now! It’s fantastic. Sorry for the ramblings, but so excitied for october 1st!

  9. Elizabethon 12 Sep 2008 at 3:24 am

I would have Ned bring back Lee Harvey Oswald. I want to know if he acted alone, or if he really did it at all. It would also provide Emerson some sleuthing kudos.

  10. Effieon 12 Sep 2008 at 4:40 am

I’d have Ned bring the fan video contest back to life so we could know who won. :-P

  11. Cassieon 12 Sep 2008 at 5:46 am

I would choose Don S. Davis, I cried like a baby when I found out my favorite TV General had passed away. Either that or John Ritter or John Spencer. I live in denial of their deaths.

  12. Ashleyon 12 Sep 2008 at 5:49 am

If I could have Ned bring back anyone I’d have him bring back Abraham Lincoln so my little sister and I could recreate our greatest Presidents Day tea-party ever, having him as the guest of honor.

  13. Matthew Riceon 12 Sep 2008 at 6:07 am

I would pick John McCain, considering that the Republicans might win again and if they do, he won’t survive his term. I wouldn’t want to give Palin the satisfaction on being the first Soccer Mom President.

  14. Hollion 12 Sep 2008 at 7:17 am

My dad is the real choice. As for someone I don’t know I’d go with Marilyn Monroe.

  15. Heatheron 12 Sep 2008 at 7:18 am

As a HUGE Buffy fan, there’s a wealth of characters I could choose that were killed off in the run of the show. But I think I’d go way back in time and choose Jenny Calender - Giles deserves a little lovin’, you know?

  16. Samon 12 Sep 2008 at 7:31 am

Mr. Rogers. I have a seven year-old and the world just seemed like a more friendly, less scary place when Mr. Rogers was around to chat with us. :(

  17. Jessicaon 12 Sep 2008 at 7:49 am

Gee Whiz, September 20th is my Birthday and this would make an excellent birthday present… *whistles inconspicuously*

I don’t think, if it was a real practicality, I would choose someone I’d never met to revive, but I was really sad when I heard news of Kurt Vonnegut’s death because, at the time, I had begun drafting a letter to him. I’d like to have the chance to say those things to him. So it goes.

Practically, I think I would choose my grandmother on my mother’s side, whom I never got to meet. It would be interesting to get that glimpse at my mother’s past and formative history.

  18. Erinon 12 Sep 2008 at 7:50 am

My Me-Maw. I miss her terribly.

  19. askndlon 12 Sep 2008 at 7:52 am

Julia Child! Wacky kitchen mishaps would surely ensue.

  20. Katon 12 Sep 2008 at 9:08 am

I’m assuming it would be just for five minutes, but I would love to have the chance to say goodbye to my dad. My parents never told me how sick he was so I never got the chance.

  21. Rozon 12 Sep 2008 at 9:30 am

John Lennon, because I’m curious to see what he feels is going on with the current state of music and if he’s happy with the way in which the Beatles are still being remembered.

  22. Bryanon 12 Sep 2008 at 9:31 am

    Hmmmmm…..

I’ve said for years that if I could bring the dead back to life that I could make my dream road film. It would be Paul Lynde, Charles Nelson Riley and Rip Taylor riding in a convertible across the US. And the 4th seat would be taken by strait man Nipsy Russell.
(please note that the first three mentioned have the exact same voice, just different inflection)

After all that I would have to say Paul Lynde. I have a slight obsession with the man. I actually own his Chateau Marmont registration card from when he was doing press in LA for the release of Bye Bye Birdy in 1963. He was such a catty man…

  23. Brookeon 12 Sep 2008 at 9:34 am

Romeo and Juliet. They at least deserve one minute of happiness, besides the whole “I killed myself to be with you” thing.

  24. Impsyon 12 Sep 2008 at 9:35 am

Gotta go with my grandma. :( Never got to say goodbye.

  25. Cindieon 12 Sep 2008 at 9:45 am

Lucille Ball (and can I bring Desi Arnaz back too?) Aside from being my favorite “real life” couple of all time, they both had comic timing, ambition, and innovative minds that I’d love to pick just for a little while. I Love Lucy has been my favorite television show since I was really young, and so I was pretty upset when I got old enough to realize that a) they weren’t real people, and b) the people playing them had died. So please, Ned, bring back Lucy and Ricky!

  26. Pascalleon 12 Sep 2008 at 9:50 am

I think he ought to bring back Hunter S. Thompson. Wacky hijinks would ensue — probably involving those homeopathic pharmaceuticals!

  27. Gausiaon 12 Sep 2008 at 9:51 am

PSH are you even kidding me? if it’s NED aka Lee Pace hotness, i would kill myself and have him wake me!!

  28. Kateon 12 Sep 2008 at 9:57 am

This one is tough… I guess I would go with… Madeleine L’Engle - you know, the lady who wrote A Wrinkle in Time, A Ring of Endless Light, and about 20 more of my favorite books.

  29. Joshuaon 12 Sep 2008 at 10:17 am

Beethoven (though I imagine he would not look very pleasant). I’ve always loved classical music and I think it would be amazing if Ned could bring Beethoven back so he could write a modern piece (or several). Definitely at the top of the list.

  30. Juliaon 12 Sep 2008 at 10:26 am

**If you could pick one dead person (real or fictional) for Ned to bring back to life who would it be and why? **

I would want to bring back my brother, George. He died when I was young and the way people talk of him…he was like a light in the darkness that was my family…kind, sweet, the only one who could get through to our father who was walking on a tightrope of sanity. When he died at the age of 35 from cancer, the light went out for many of us and for a long time, no one loved me the way he did, pure and true. That was the end for our father too, the tightrope snapped and he decended into the final depths of madness, lost in himself…to filled with grief to even seek treatment or pain killers for the cancer he would succumb to four years later. On 9/21, George would have been 59 years old this year.

  31. Hapon 12 Sep 2008 at 10:41 am

    Jerry Garcia!
Bring back the Dead - for reals!

  32. Melon 12 Sep 2008 at 10:45 am

I’d have Ned bring back Tara from Buffy - I never got on the Kennedy train…

  33. Rhubarbon 12 Sep 2008 at 10:48 am

If the person could be brought back to life for an infinite amount of time, I would request Jim Henson. Watching the Muppet Show was a highlight of my childhood! This man was an absolute visionary with a self professed penchant for risk taking in developing his own particular art of puppeteering, and he was this way the whole of his career because he so believed so much in his beloved creatures and the insightful messages they imparted - to children - and adults! Awesome.

It would be wackadoo hilarious to see what would happen if Jim and Bryan/Barry had the opportunity to join forces, and inject certain Muppets into Pushing Daisies…like if The Swedish Chef assisted Ned making pies, or if Guy Smiley reported the news in place of the TV news anchor PD uses from time to time…or if a Muppet dies (oh no!), and Ned brings it back to life to get the scoop…a completely different show of course, but nonetheless funny to consider.

And if I could only bring someone back for a minute, I would say my Grandma so I could say goodbye one last time. She recently passed, but even 93 3/4, her mind was sharp as a tack. Her poor lungs just couldn’t keep going. RIP sweet Grandma Elizabeth.

  34. Amberon 12 Sep 2008 at 10:49 am

I would want Ned to bring back Robert Holmes. He wrote for Doctor Who (Classic Series) and died mid-way through Trial of a Timelord leaving virtually no notes for the plot. As a result, that is one of the most wacked-up, convoluted, and confusing story arcs ever. I want to know what his real intentions were for the story.

Side note: I also really like the suggestion of bringing back Marilyn Monroe. So much conspiracy surrounding her death! It would be amazing to find out what she really knew about the Kennedy’s and if her connection to them had anything to do with her death.

  35. Jennyon 12 Sep 2008 at 10:56 am

    Dumbledore!

  36. Loison 12 Sep 2008 at 11:09 am

    The TV show Wonderfalls!
    Does that count?
Because Fox truly killed that show… and it really was amazing!
Yeh, Ned should SO bring back Wonderfalls.
Also, my Grandad… he was amazing. He taught me so much about Art. But died before my GSCE’s. Best art teacher in the world!
    x

  37. Arestiaon 12 Sep 2008 at 11:18 am

    Tis a tough question indeed…
But I have to say Orson Welles, for he is indeed a genius and I think it would be interesting to see what he thinks of television and film now a days. I’m sure he would curse reality television, which I would find amusing.
    that is all
    tata

  38. Tessaon 12 Sep 2008 at 11:33 am

Denny from Grey’s Anatomy. And speaking of Jeffrey Dean Morgan, how about John Winchester from Supernatural too?

  39. TBon 12 Sep 2008 at 11:43 am

The obvious answer is Nikola Tesla. The man was a crazy genius (seriously, check out his wikipedia page), and would fit with the tone of the show. I could definitely see a plot revolving around some kind of wacky technological device they’d need him to invent/deactivate.

  40. Emma Gon 12 Sep 2008 at 12:13 pm

OOO the Lone Gunmen from the X-Files!

  41. strawberrypieon 12 Sep 2008 at 12:57 pm

I have to say my aunt. If only to tell her how much I appreciated her.

  42. Allisonon 12 Sep 2008 at 1:07 pm

Anya from Buffy the Vampire Slayer–could you imagine having a millenium-old Swedish ex-demon helping to solve murder mysteries?

    Bonus: Actress Emma Caulfield sings!

  43. Rebecca T.on 12 Sep 2008 at 1:13 pm

“Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead! Or Not!” Yes, that’s two people, but c’mon, everyone thinks they’re one person anyways. The combination of Pushing Daisies + Shakespeare + Tom Stoppard would be indescribably awesome.

With the amount of talented theatre people involved the show, I wouldn’t be surprised if the joke slipped into the series regardless of the resurrection state.

  44. Kristenon 12 Sep 2008 at 1:25 pm

I would bring back Dumbledore, because let’s get real here - Hogwarts needs him.

  45. Robynon 12 Sep 2008 at 1:28 pm

I would want either Jane Austen or Oscar Wilde to come back. Hmm…maybe on second thought just Oscar Wilde. With Jane you could only have a nice chat and a spot of tea. But with Oscar you would have a witty conversation and some absinthe.

  46. Kristinaon 12 Sep 2008 at 1:31 pm

I would choose Audrey Hepburn, a lovely actress and humanitarian.

  47. […] Click here to enter… […]

  48. Karion 12 Sep 2008 at 1:57 pm

Roald Dahl. I think it’d be a lot of fun if there was episode that took cues from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory or James and the Giant Peach :)

  49. Jane Aon 12 Sep 2008 at 2:00 pm

Definitely Jane Austen, if only so I could ask her about her love life, or lack there of and tell her how much the world loves her novels!

  50. Elena Blekhteron 12 Sep 2008 at 2:07 pm

    Vincent Van Gogh …

I think it’s such a shame that he died thinking he was a failure and now he’s one of the most famous artists of all time.

Plus we share the same bday … :-D.

  51. Jessicaon 12 Sep 2008 at 2:08 pm

There’s so many potential people…but personally, I would like my grandmother back, even for a minute. I just want my mom to have another chance to talk to her so she knows how much good she’s done for her family and so she knows that her mother is proud of her too.

But on a lighter note, I’d want to bring back Walt Disney, just because he and his work is incredibly inspiring to me and the Disney franchise could really use him back.

  52. Nicoleon 12 Sep 2008 at 2:10 pm

Realistically I’d want to bring back my grandmother. We were really close and I never got to say goodbye to her before she passed plus I didn’t even make it to her funeral.

Fictional I’m going to say Wesley from Angel the Series. He’s my favorite character in the history of basically ever and he should not be dead. :(

  53. Amanda J.on 12 Sep 2008 at 2:23 pm

I’d like to have Ned bring back my grandfather who passed away before I was born. He died while my dad was in high school, and I’ve always wanted to meet him because I’ve heard stories about him throughout my life. I would want to get to know him even if it was for a minute.

  54. Zoeon 12 Sep 2008 at 2:23 pm

Honestly, it probably wouldn’t matter, because I’d want to talk to Ned (Lee Pace) anyway. But if I had to pick…

It would have to be Andy Warhol. I would give anything to have a one-minute conversation with him! (My idol).

  55. Jeffon 12 Sep 2008 at 2:25 pm

    Ronald Reagan

  56. Luisaon 12 Sep 2008 at 2:30 pm

I would want to bring my Papa back. I was too young when he died to realize how affecting his death would be to me for the rest of my life. He taught me how to play cards, made me grilled cheeses, fostered a love of baseball in me. His favorite team was our Houston Astros, and he died before he ever got to see them make it to the World Series. I think he deserves at least just one more minute of life, because he was simply a good man.

As for fictional, I was so heartbroken over Fred (in Deathly Hallows). He was my Harry Potter soul mate!

  57. Jordanon 12 Sep 2008 at 2:37 pm

In real life, my mom. In not-real TV life, probably someone whose character deserved a better ending, like Sheriff Lamb from Veronica Mars.

  58. Lauraon 12 Sep 2008 at 2:49 pm

Wowwww…. Hmm. My answer’s going to be so beyond lame, but I’d prolly choose King Kong. Normally I’m all for killing off characters so long as there is a REASON for doing so, but Kong was a victim of misconceptions, and no one really understood him except Anne. It just wasn’t fair. They abducted him from his home, took away the one thing he loved, and then they killed him when all he wanted was to protect Anne.

It was one of the only movie deaths I’ve ever cried over.

  59. Marionon 12 Sep 2008 at 3:08 pm

Teddy Roosevelt, because he never did get his second term as president.

  60. CFO (not my initials)on 12 Sep 2008 at 3:11 pm

Chuck’s dad. If that’s even possible (because he was the… “replacement” death).
If that is not possible, I would have to say… Phil Hartman. I miss that funny, funny, guy.

  61. Karinon 12 Sep 2008 at 3:30 pm

I would have Ned bring back the “Father of the Constitution” James Madison, Jr.. In our current political climate, it would be equally entertaining and informative to actually have a founding father available to respond when any politician asserts that his or her stance is what the founding fathers had in mind.

  62. miaon 12 Sep 2008 at 3:35 pm

I dont if this is too morbid but I would like Ned to bring back Jon Benet Ramsey.
That poor little girl did not deserve to suffer… the way she was killed. I know she is not the only child who has suffered or died but she is a prime example and if a family member did this to her Id like to see them brought to justice.
Note: I also thought of Madelience McCann but she is still “missing”.
I think she is a good choice wheter it is for a minute- who killed you? or for longer so she could hopefully live a beautiful full life.

    great question!
    good luck everyone.

  63. Lizon 12 Sep 2008 at 3:37 pm

Ned should bring back Jack Bristow from Alias. He was way too awesome of a character to die buried alive in a tomb.

  64. Mayetteon 12 Sep 2008 at 4:00 pm

I would bring back Arrested Development. :( That was an amazing show.

  65. Cyndion 12 Sep 2008 at 4:09 pm

I would love to have a few minutes to talk to Jackie Robinson. I wrote a book on him for a grad class this summer and I just think that he was a truly amazing person. I would love to hear his thoughts on being the first African American player to break the color barrier in Major League Baseball as well as find out what it was like to march with Martin Luther King, Jr. in support of the Civil Rights Movement.

  66. Hilaryon 12 Sep 2008 at 4:23 pm

Hmm, Jerry Orbach. Law & Order has not been the same without him.

  67. Nateon 12 Sep 2008 at 4:28 pm

I would want Ned to bring back the Swedish filmmaker Ingmar Bergman so that wonderful man can make one last movie.

  68. Jessica Kon 12 Sep 2008 at 4:36 pm

I want him to bring James Dean back so he can show up all the new talent in Hollywood.

  69. Caseron 12 Sep 2008 at 5:02 pm

There are SO many people on my list.
    Not in any order
Madeline Kahn. Since Kristin Chenoweth is a real-life huuuuuuuge fan, it would be really kewl.
My poppop. I never got to meet him ):
Walt Disney. Disney Company has been awful lately. Walt needs to straighten things out ;)
Amber Volakis from House. I might have hated her, but her dying made me like her more :(
    Audrey Hepburn

Jonathon Larson. He derserves to see how his work turned out.

  70. Kirstieon 12 Sep 2008 at 5:14 pm

I’d bring back William Shakespeare to see if he’s still worth all the fuss. Would he seem like an amazing writer even today, or do we just love him because his works are so old that they’re intriguing and familiar?

  71. Ashley Sumnerson 12 Sep 2008 at 5:25 pm

I would like to see Ned bring back Charlie Chaplin in his silent movies, because it’d be funny for him to interact with someone who you couldn’t hear when he talked. :)

  72. Brendanon 12 Sep 2008 at 5:30 pm

This may sound weird…but I would bring back my family’s dog, Rufus. He’s actually a golden retriever. =)

He was the best dog my family had ever seen and he died very young. It would mean a lot to have him back.

  73. Lynzieon 12 Sep 2008 at 5:45 pm

George Carlin, just because I can’t imagine how awesome it would be for shy, sweet Ned to meet that outspoken, amazing old man. :3

  74. Maureenon 12 Sep 2008 at 5:57 pm

I’d have him bring back my maternal grandmother. She died before I was born, but from all I’ve heard about her, she sounds like a wonderful person to know.

  75. kimberlyon 12 Sep 2008 at 6:02 pm

George Carlin, world was a funnier place with him in it

  76. Emilyon 12 Sep 2008 at 6:16 pm

I’m sure this is a personal response (and I’m sure you’ve already got a few of these), but my dad.
My dad died 4 years ago. He had cancer, and I was 18, and so it was expected and I knew enough and was old, and I’m sure that is all fine.
Except, he wrote letters to my mom and my brother. And apparently he wrote one to me also, but we have never been able to find it. And that sort of haunts me. I want to know what he would have wanted to say to me, if he was proud of me, would he be proud of what I became in these four years.

Of course, if I only got him for 60 seconds… I don’t know if that would be any better. To have him for those seconds just to lose him again.

  77. Naomion 12 Sep 2008 at 6:22 pm

Dr. Seuss. Because he still has a few more lessons to teach us.

  78. Jenon 12 Sep 2008 at 6:37 pm

Herb Ritts. His photography was simply amazing. His photos and music videos are iconic.

The person (real or fictional) that I wouldn’t want Ned to touch, ever, would be Marissa Cooper. Good riddance!

  79. **A**on 12 Sep 2008 at 7:07 pm

Pshhh…..Walt Disney or Jim henson…imagine how many more awesome things they could make??????

  80. Kimberon 12 Sep 2008 at 7:09 pm

My childhood dog, Freddie (hey - he was a “person” to me). I remember following him around, dressing him up in baby doll clothes (not an easy task - he was a Basset Hound!), and cuddling with him on the couch. How I wish he could have lived forever.

  81. Jodion 12 Sep 2008 at 7:23 pm

Ed Truck from the Office. That would be HILARIOUS…especially to make Creed seem even crazier.

  82. Benon 12 Sep 2008 at 7:43 pm

Roberto Clemente - a great baseball player and an even greater person.

  83. Jadaon 12 Sep 2008 at 7:48 pm

Lilly Kane from VERONICA MARS ’cause we already know how she died.

  84. Lukason 12 Sep 2008 at 8:06 pm

I’d bring back Wash, from Firefly/Serenity. Book’s death I can deal with, but I’d love to have Wash back…

…although I do understand why he was killed… but that still saddens me.

  85. Sparkle Fairyon 12 Sep 2008 at 8:21 pm

I’d bring back my dad. He got into a motorcycle accident back in December, thought he was fine, and ended up dying a week later at home when he bled out. My mother and I ended up finding him ten hours later when we came home. It was very unexpected, and I’d just like sixty seconds for my mother to be able to tell him that she loved him and for him to be able to tell her that he loved her. They didn’t have a good marriage, and for them to have that confirmation…I know it would mean so much.

I’d like for my dad to be able to tell my sister goodbye and that he loves her. She’s been so angry since he died, and she’s started acting out.

I’d like my dad to be able to talk to his sisters, who miss him terribly. One of them lives several states away from us and is so lonely, and another one lives here…but he was her best friend. I’d like him to be able to talk to his nieces…so many of them grew up without fathers, and he really was like a father figure to them.

Finally, if there was any time left, I’d tell him that I love him and that I’m sorry that he had to die alone. I’d tell him that, contrary to what he believed, he was not worthless, and he made a difference in so many more lives than he realized.

  86. Sarahon 12 Sep 2008 at 9:41 pm

Mitch Hedberg! Hearing his new comedy album that’s made up of a show just a few weeks before his passing have made me miss him all the more.

  87. Jewellon 12 Sep 2008 at 9:57 pm

    Freddie Mercury!
He could teach me to dance, and maybe we could go run around and sing.

  88. Kimon 12 Sep 2008 at 10:04 pm

My cousin. He died far too young.

  89. Juleson 12 Sep 2008 at 10:26 pm

My best friend’s mom’s boyfriend who died just over a month ago from a very unfortunate and unexpected diving accident. His death was unnecessary and even though she wouldn’t be able to touch him if Ned brought him back to life, just having him back would be better than not having him around at all. He made such an impact to everyone around him; it’s sad just to think that he’s not around anymore…

  90. ACon 12 Sep 2008 at 10:43 pm

Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau. We need a politician like him around these days.

  91. Shannonon 12 Sep 2008 at 11:13 pm

Well, I’ve never lost somebody all that close to me, so I’m going a little more light with this.

I’d bring back Heath Ledger. I think he was a great actor with alot of potential and I think its a shame he died so young. Plus, with a daughter about young Chuck’s age when she lost her father, there would be some nice symmetry there.

  92. Pie Loveron 13 Sep 2008 at 12:19 am

Ummm, I’d have to say that Well first it would be awesome to meet NED! But to have him bring someone back to life for me would be amazing! So one person would definitely be Walt Disney; he could make so many more amazing movies and it would be AWESOME to meet him! And if I could have a second option it would be Anastasia or Amelia Earhart? I’ve always, always, always wondered what happened to those two amazing women!!! Ok wow! This is hard I’d also want to meet my Grandma that died before I was born, I’ve fealt so close to her even though she’s gone and really want to meet her someday!

  93. Davidon 13 Sep 2008 at 12:23 am

Douglas Adams. Since someone else already suggested Jim Henson and I think he’s another sort of suitably whimsical public figure that died relatively young and before getting the opportunity to wrap up not only some of his personal quests (halting the extinction of endangered animals or the pursuit of new tech gadgets) or stories (like the sixth book in the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy Trilogy)

  94. Debbieon 13 Sep 2008 at 12:35 am

I would ask Ned to bring back my first grade teacher, Miss Finelli because I never thanked her for teaching me to read. It is because of her that reading has always been a very important part of my life. I can’t pick up a book and not think about her. Being able to read has taken me to so many places and allowed me to do so many things. The most important thing, however, that reading has allowed me is the pleasure of teaching my children to read.

  95. Jasmineon 13 Sep 2008 at 12:45 am

I would have to say John Lennon, mostly because I love The Beatles and it would be interesting. I also thought that the first or second comment that said George Lass was a good idea. I loved Dead Like Me. Though, it would be weird because she causes the death of people and he brings people back to life. Maybe not so weird…

  96. Elisaon 13 Sep 2008 at 1:17 am

Remus Lupin or Nymphadora Tonks because they didn’t deserve to die…

  97. A Bullet in your What?on 13 Sep 2008 at 1:38 am

Dorian Gray. Who wouldn’t want to talk to the most vain and cunning man of all time?

  98. Lilyon 13 Sep 2008 at 2:01 am

That is one very difficult question. They are so many people, I would want to bring back. They aren’t much that I could survive losing again after one minute, though. It just wouldn’t be enough, they’re would be to many things to ask them, things I wouldn’t think about in the moment and would be beating myself up for not asking afterward.

So I guess that leaves me with my old crossguard, Pierre. It might sound strange, but all, but one of my grand-parents died when I was a toddler. The grandma I have left and I have a strange and difficult relationship. I do not see her often. Anyway, as I was saying, Pierre was the crossguard of our school. He was an old, kind and lonely man. Every day, after school, we would talk. He would give me advices, gossip and all together be very kind to me. Every christmas and end of the year, I would give him a gift and he would afterward tell me what he did with it and how glad my gift had made him. So I saw him as a grand-father figure and he was one of the rare good things about school for me because you see, I was often bullied. Then of course, I grew up and had to change school and at the same time Pierre decide to retire. I never asked him, but I always wonder if I had something to do with the fact that he stayed untill then. He knew I was changing school and he often told me I was the only kid who was nice to him, because most of the other acted like they didn’t see him.

So Pierre retired and I went to middle school and never saw or heard from him again. Now, I am 21 and in college and I still beat myself up for never thanking him and telling him I loved him. I was a child and did not understand the importance of saying those things. Pierre was already pretty old then (around 70) and it was ten years ago. There is a good chance, he died, so if I could have one minute with a person I lost, it would be him, to get the chance to tell him.

Q: If you could pick one dead person (real or fictional) for Ned to bring back to life who would it be and why?

A: Given that this person would only be alive for one minute unless (a sacrifice was made), I’d say that it’d be too selfish to bring anyone back for so little time. One minute is too much a small amount of time for it to be truly productive (except of course to find out what killed them, lol)!

    Dad, obviously.

I might be the only one to mourn the loss of Boone from “Lost” so instead I’ll go with Amelia Earhart, so we can get Ned to ask her what happened to her!! Wouldn’t that be a great Pushing Daises mystery?

  104. Katieon 13 Sep 2008 at 10:57 am

hmm this is a really tough question. i would probably bring back my friend’s mom. She died way too young and my friend deeply misses her.

as for tv characters, i’m going to have to second Jack Bristow. I was so upset that he died (along with so many others in those final episodes). I think Sydney would have benefited from having him around and be a grandpa for Isabel and Jack!

  105. Baileyon 13 Sep 2008 at 12:01 pm

Putting aside personal wishes of who to bring back to the dead, I think Christoper Reeve deserves to be brought back. Even as a paraplegic, he invested his time into finding a way out of parallysis. Even though many people disagree with stem-cell research, it can’t be overlooked what Christopher Reeve has accomplished. He definitely died prematurely, followed by his wife, which left his children orphaned. They deserve to have their father back, and he deserves to be back. Even though it was just a character he played, Christopher Reeve was a true life Superman.

  110. Scooter McGavinon 13 Sep 2008 at 2:17 pm

I would bring back Bernie of Weekend at Benie’s fame because the trilogy needs to be complete with Bernie exacting some revenge on Johnathan Silverman and Andrew McCarthy for all the shenangans they pulled in the first two movies.

I would love to meet Einstein again, first to tell him how wrong he was about quantum and second so he can clarify once and for all that he is not a religious person. And maybe he’ll have another insight or two to share. He’s just an awesome person.

  112. Brian Hermannon 13 Sep 2008 at 2:59 pm

This is tough. When Ned brought Chuck back it was very hard for him to leave her alive. Knowing that someone else would loose their life he did not do that act lightly. For Ned to help me it would have to be worth it.

It would have to be a dear friend of mine who battled all her life with illness and finally lost that battle not too long ago. This was a person that meant something to allot of people. Someone who’s return would warrant the loss of another life. Which as we all know would be the result of Ned’s touch.

  113. Sarahon 13 Sep 2008 at 6:17 pm

On a personal note I’d say my dad.

On a less selfish note I would say Queen Elizabeth I because I think she was fascinating and there are so many questions surrounding her life that would be interesting to learn about.

  114. Caseyon 13 Sep 2008 at 7:45 pm

If I have to be serious, I would choose my grandmother, who died in a car accident while on the way to see me at a volleyball game. I have only just been able to get over the feeling of guilt, and it has been over four years.
For my own personal reasons, I would bring back River Phoenix, as he was an absolutely spectacular actor who died too young.

  115. Sydon 13 Sep 2008 at 8:54 pm

Ambrose Bierce. It would be fascinating to talk to someone who disappeared “to be a gringo” in Mexico and was never seen again, if only to find out what happened to him. I hear he was pretty funny, too.

  116. Karion 13 Sep 2008 at 8:59 pm

I would want Ned to bring back Buddy Holly. He was gone too soon and had so much more great music he could have brought to the world. Of course, Ned would have to bring him back to life circa 1959, because it would probably just be icky to bring him back now.

  117. Tinaon 13 Sep 2008 at 11:49 pm

I’ve been sitting here like Pooh Bear all day, “Think, Think, Think, Think. ”

I would have to say that I would want Ned to bring back Chuck’s Dad for that one minute. That way he and Chuck could have a proper goodbye. Everyone should have one of those, if it’s possible, as many on the board have said. Ned would be able to say how sorry he was(though I’m not sure it really was his fault, but that’s a different post).

  118. Jessicaon 13 Sep 2008 at 11:51 pm

That’s a tough one. The first person I can think of (so not necessarily my best possible choice but the one for now) would be Marissa from The OC so that she could share some more selfishness and terrible acting with the world … and end up with Ryan.

  119. Sonalion 13 Sep 2008 at 11:55 pm

I’m going to keep this about fictional characters instead of getting into my personal ones.
Chuck’s dad so she could say goodbye (even though I get why he said no to doing that).

Rousseau from Lost. I know there’s plenty of other characters who bit the dust on that show, but none has pissed me off as much as Rousseau. Sixteen years! By herself! Finally reunited with her daughter! And then just like that, BAM, she is no more. I’m bitter.

  130. CoLtOnon 14 Sep 2008 at 6:47 pm

I agree with the comment above! I would have Ned bring back Richard Harris (the first guy to play Dumbledore.) He really was great, not that Michael Gambon isn’t amazing, but I don’t like when they change actors like that. Not like they had a choice:)

  131. D-anaon 14 Sep 2008 at 6:48 pm

Ooooooooooo FUN! I LOVE PUSHING DAISIES!!! I would have to say Heath Ledger, he didn’t deserve to go, he was such a great actor!

  132. Mollyon 14 Sep 2008 at 6:49 pm

Okay, I know that this might be treading on Treva’s answer right before mine…but I think I would bring back Albus Dumbledore (the character, although I did love the first film Dumbledore too!). Or maybe Severus Snape - that man certainly had a few issues left to resolve!

  133. G.on 14 Sep 2008 at 7:12 pm

I don’t want to get too heavy by picking someone from my own life so I’ll go with the posters who picked Heath Ledger, not only because he was a brilliant actor and I’d have loved the chance to see his Joker reappear in future Batman movies, but because he was just too damn young! :(

  134. AngieBatgirlon 14 Sep 2008 at 7:23 pm

Real: My Grandmother. She held our family together and without her, it’s fallen apart. And I really miss her.

  135. RJon 14 Sep 2008 at 8:44 pm

I would say John F. Kennedy.

No particular reason, but I think it would be good for him to come back for a minute.

  136. Andrewon 15 Sep 2008 at 12:11 am

If I could pick one person for Ned to bring back from dead I would definitely choose President George Washington. If Mr. Washington were brought back to life, I would explicate the current political situation in America and ask him if the way the country is presently goverened agrees with the ideals he and the founding fathers had for this country. Hopefully his advice for a better America fits in the time spand of a minute.

  137. Stephanieon 15 Sep 2008 at 2:21 am

Initially I thought that the person I would want Ned to wake would be a family member, but I know that we honestly wouldn’t be able to stand losing them again, no matter how much we miss them.

So I would say Charlie Chaplin. Untop of being a modest person and charming comedian, his skill in writing, directing, and composing never seizes to amaze me.

  138. Arion 15 Sep 2008 at 2:21 am

Jonathan Larson, author of RENT… I’ve been a Renthead for over ten years and I’ve always wondered what he would think about his little show that was supposed to run for only a couple weeks downtown exploding the way it did after his death.

  139. Jenon 15 Sep 2008 at 8:51 am

Matthew Cuthbert of Anne of Green Gables; I was always sad to think about the loss of such a kind man. I’d love to hear what he’d have to say about finding joy in a quiet life.

  140. Josephon 15 Sep 2008 at 8:57 am

I would like Ned to bring back Abraham from the Old Testiment and ask him to pronounce the Grand Creator’s name.

  141. Raeon 15 Sep 2008 at 9:19 am

Uhh, is he only bringing this person back to life for a minute? I assume so but I wasn’t thinking that way at first. Hrmmm.

I read through everyone else’s so I wouldn’t be repeating. I was thinking Shakespeare but I’m not sure what good he’d be in just a minute. He’d probably spend it being freaked out by this new-fangled world.

Fictionally, there’s no one I’d want to bring back for just a minute. If I could have them for longer than that it’d be Fred Burkle but then again her fictional world is no longer being shown on a TV near me so that’d be silly.

I’m waffling between Edgar Allan Poe and Mary of Nazareth. I think Poe would dig Ned’s ability and that it was used on him. That said, I don’t really have anything to ask him… maybe how he died but that’s not really that much of a mystery so I’d mostly be doing it to see his reaction to the circumstances.

So Mary of Nazareth it is! And people may now start hating on me but, whatever, I’m a cynic and I’d rather hear the truth from Mary than trust the word of others. I want to know if she really was a virgin and if she truly believes she was knocked up by God. Which, fwiw, is totally different from believing your son is a miracle from God and having faith that he’s meant to do great things.

  142. Jesson 15 Sep 2008 at 11:17 am

    Lucille Ball.

She paved the way for women in comedy.

I’m going to go with a fictional character and say Charlie from Lost. I was depressed for days.

  145. Alysonon 15 Sep 2008 at 2:14 pm

I’d have to go with Leo McGarry from the West Wing — it was so sad when he died. There’s no one else I’d choose to be my Chief of Staff.

  146. rockerbabyfi12on 15 Sep 2008 at 2:16 pm

Mine isn’t even a person! I would love to have my childhood kitty, Belle, back. A cat in my household had her when I was five and I named her after Belle from Beauty and the Beast. I can’t think of a famous/fictional person I would want back, and I have lost anyone in my life who died prematurely (and when it’s your time, it’s your time, right?), so Belle is the way I’d go.
It’s funny, because we really were just the same. I’m kind of stand-offish around people I don’t know and it’s hard for me to get close to someone…just like how I would be the only person Belle would come to or sit on the lap of.
And it’s hard to imagine a cat as clumsy or spaztic, but that’s just how she was, which was a perfect match for me!

She’d be my very own Digby! Only…a cat….and I could touch her. lol

  147. rockerbabyfi12on 15 Sep 2008 at 2:18 pm

Jimmy Hoffa! If they find him to bring him back, half the mystery is already solved, then hearing what he has to say would be the icing on the cake (or sugar on the pie crust?)!

In real life, my dog Penny who was my best friend, if that doesn’t count as a person, then it would be my best friends Dad who passed away a few years ago, so she could say good bye.

Fictional…Boone from LOST…cuz he was HOTT!!

  163. Anastassia Cookeon 17 Sep 2008 at 3:35 am

If he could bring back someone I know, it would have to be my grandfather. I never got to tell him how much he meant to me before he passed away, or let him know how many amazing memories that time spent in that old house of his made for me while I was growing up. If only he could have known how much I appreciated him and all he was..
I would love to be able to tell him I love him, and say sorry for the mix-up with the music I had really wanted to have played at his funeral. If we could just sit together in each other’s company and listen to that one song, then that would be all I’d ask for.

As for someone I’ve never known, I would love to have Brandon Lee back for a time. He was a beautiful actor whose life was cut far too short, and I think he deserves a little more time in the land of the living. If only it were so simple!

  164. Noemíon 17 Sep 2008 at 12:07 pm

My first pick would have to be my dad, he passed away when I was 12 years old and there is some much that I never got to tell him.

However, if I were to pick a famous person, I would pick Judy Garland. I would love to have a conversation with her. I am just sure she would be so fascinating!

  166. Hilstoon 17 Sep 2008 at 9:30 pm

Amelia Earhart. Of course before bringing her back to life you’d have the extra hurdle of figuring out where her body went. I’d ask her how she died. A spy for the government, running away with a lover, on the LOST island with Jack and the others. I want to know!

  167. Hangerooon 18 Sep 2008 at 1:09 am

  169. Kendra Jacklynon 18 Sep 2008 at 11:18 pm

I would have Ned bring back my Nana (my Grandmother’s mother).

I never really got the chance to get to know her personally because she passed away when I was very young.

I’m now twenty-one years old, and for most of my young adult life (probably mid high school), I have always felt some kind of connection with her.

I have seen several pictures where I am sitting on her lap, with her arms wrapped tight around me, but I wish I could remember why exactly I was so drawn to her. She didn’t live near me growing up, and I only ever really saw her on special holiday occasions…

But something about her smile, her face in pictures, and certain things I have heard about her strength and her life really make me wish I could talk to her again, just for five minutes…

I feel like maybe she has some answers/wisdom for me…and maybe I’m a little bit of her reincarnated? My Mom sometimes thinks so!

I have a few choices…Martin Luther King Jr. because I think he was an amazing person and leader. If he teamed up with Obama right now, there would be no question who the next president would be.

I would also like to bring back John Ritter…I still enjoy Three’s Company even after so many years. He was truly talented.

If Ned could bring back a show, I would want him to bring back Moonlight. They only had one season, and it was amazing. And I miss my hot vampire…

I would say Jesus but since he already came back once so technically I think The Piemaker’s powers would not work on Jesus. Given that, I would say Paul Revere.

The night of Paul Revere’s Ride has become blurred in the historical mind and much like Pushing Daisies we have this fantastical vision of what actually happened on the now legendary night.

I would have Ned, our Piemaker, touch Paul Revere alive to reveal the truth of that historic night. How his friends William Dawes and Samuel Prescott helped to spread the warning and who actually made the full ride. And Clarify how he spread the alarm through every Middlesex village and farm, since Revere at the time considered himself British and surely would not be shouting “The British are coming,” as a warning.

I think if Ned could have a minute with Paul Revere we could all gain some historical insight and Bryan Fuller may also gain some inspiration for a new Pushing Daisies episode.

Wow, some really personal and heartfelt responses here which we were not expecting… that makes picking a winner THAT much harder. Don’t forget you have until tomorrow to comment then we’ll announce a winner.

Charles Dickens. So we could find out once and for all the answer to The Mystery of Edwin Drood.

I’d pick my maternal grandmother because she was loving and non-judgmental, and I’d just love to spend more time with her. I miss her lots.

Bring back to life and quickly kill or bring back to life and kill someone else? eh?

Well, I’ll pretend it’s bring back to life with no repercussions. And I’d say, Chuck’s dad! It’ll have lots of effects on different people. And I want to see what he was like. :)

The Winner of the Season 1 DVD pack and Jews For Jesus Shirt prize pack is…

    (drum roll)

Bryan (posted: 9/12) for picking Paul Lynde! Paul Lynde was a genius comedian and his personality and character would fit so well in the Daisies community.

If anyone dare debate Paul Lynde’s comedic genius, please note the quotes from his time as center square on Hollywood Square (from my youth).

Kath and I want to thank everyone for their comments and especially to those of you who poured your hearts out about your lost loved ones. It was amazing to read but how could we compare your personal loss and award one winner? That wouldn’t be fair to anyone.
